I liked that extra damage inflicted on Steelix because it lowered it into range of Scyther's Swords Danced Brick Break. Froslass eats a Fire Blast, Banette and Sableye are almost never seen and are usually just annoyers anyways, and Drifblim is a problem but still doesn't like Thunder Wave.
Fire Blast is just so useful to have because Steelix can't recover health. If you inflict 45% damage to it, all it can do is hope the Leftovers recovery stacks up or get Wish support. It also helps when Steelix is Roaring your entire team around, as a Fire Blast will often put it in range for another member of your team.
Also, I have a set to post.
"Offensive Clefable"
Clefable @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 100 HP / 112 Atk / 120 SpA / 176 SpD
Sassy Nature (+SpD, -Spe)
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam / Thunderbolt
- Double-edge
- Softboiled
The EVs are kind of tailored to my team because this was my "special wall" of sorts, but a Quiet nature and less SpD would probably be more beneficial overall.
Anyways, this set I've been using has been destroying teams. The only safe counter is, ironically enough, other Clefable, who is usually 2HKOed by Double-edge (too bad they're faster and can Softboiled!). The best part is, most of what will be switching in can't 2HKO Clefable in return.
Thunderbolt is an option over Ice Beam to hit Omastar, Relicanth, and Kabutops, though you're left more open to Nidiqueen and Claydol.
I'd like feedback on it. The EVs are pretty arbitrary to be honest.
