SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

Here's a look at the model in Blender.

Design isn't emphasizing the coin enough for me, especially since the rest of it is an extremely simple design. The coin being hidden behind the rest of the body when looking at the front doesn't help in that regard, and I don't really feel that the two designs reflect each other.
In any case it sounds like the coin might be the cell version as Khu mentioned the thing in the trailer being a cell, if they are the same.

I'm curious how much of a tie-in there's going to be with Go, given its origins. Given that there's apparently a coin fetch quest akin to the Zygarde cells in SM or the 108 Spiritomb souls in PLA, maybe there'll be some way to acquire coins for that quest from Go as a promotional thing? I'd rather it didn't be a Meltan situation where you need to use Go in order to evolve it, but I think presenting a second option for acquiring coins for Go players while also directly promoting SV compatibility would be a good call and also pretty fun.

In terms of the design itself, I don't really have any strong feelings on it at all. I'd rather see it in motion + its 2D art before making any judgments on it, but I think it's kinda charming as is and I'm eager to see more of it and its evolution.

This is probably due to the khu calling it nothing but a coin mon, when its more than likely based on a myhtlogical creature or folklore. Kinda colored peoples perception of it

cute new mon. i'm glad it's just a little gremlin who collects coins rather than a floating sentient coin, though i'm really surprised it ended up in pokemon go. didn't khu make a big point about how you collect coins for this guy in-game? i'm hoping it doesn't end up as another pokemon go exclusive.
It's in Scarlet and Violet for sure, we have footage of it.

Nothing about this is probably meant to be accidental. Jacq is also in the files and since this is meant to directly relate to the Coin pokemon the intention is probably a reveal event

It will probably be something like "Jacq is researching these Mysterious Coins, they might be related to a Pokemon." And then the Pokemon shows up alongside coins popping up all over. It won't be named so you just start encoutnering the mystery weirdo, and the goal of the event will probably be collect X coins either just finding them or beating the pokemon (but not catching) and at that point they'll probably reveal the pokemon and name in full on the website.

I'm kind of meh on the coinmon right now. i don't necessarily like it but I don't dislike it either. Though my mind could honestly be changed in the future when I see it in motion/read its dex entry or whatever.

Going back to Terastilizing and its potential, as well as how the meta will change with some OU staples being absent. First, I want to highlight some Pokemon I think will get banned cracked with Tera Types

8B5FFCA3-5A0D-4C4C-B6B5-AA46F47E8A8D.png

Normal (Toxtricity) @ Throat Spray
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 16 Atk / 252 SpA / 240 Spe
Rash Nature
- Shift Gear
- Boomburst
- Drain Punch
- Overdrive/Snarl

This thing is special Dracovish with Normal Tera as mentioned before. Targets hit neutrally or frail resists are getting OHKOd by STAB Boomburst boosted by Punk Rock off base 113 SpA. SG Toxtricity, a classic set back in IoA OU. It covers all of the Rock, Steel and Ghost types. Ttar? Drain Punch. Ghosts? Snarl and Overdrive. Corv? Yeah like that thing is gonna risk dying to Overdrive. Defensive ghosts are rare in OU across each generation, and our only defensive ghost introduced is Aegislash. Defensive Rock types in OU are rare, only Ttar and Rhyperior ever really made an impact in SS OU. Steel types are common place, but there is a problem.

Most of the good steel types have been thanos snapped from SV. More on that later.

So yeah, unless SI wouldn’t be surprised if this gets banned or it becomes one of the reasons tera types get banned in singles.

38A9BB1C-3FFE-47EE-BC58-B00A964FFD49.png

Fire/Grass/Ghost/Fairy (Volcarona) @ Life Orb/Lum Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest/Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower
- Giga Drain/Tera Blast
- Psychic/Roost/Bug Buzz

The moth gets improved every gen. Gen 6 introduced Defog. Gen 7 made Defog distribution wider and gave it Z-Moves. Gen 8 gave it Boots in exchange for HP Ground. Now Volcarona can finally not be 4x weak to rocks. Rocks were holding it back before. Even with the introduction of Boots, Volc missed out on LO, Lefties, and Lum Berry. Now it can hold these items and change its type. If it gets banned I wouldn’t be surprised.

Volcarona’s stats and movepool are so good that it can roll with most Tera Types and be cracked, but the four I chosen highlight its potential the most. Fire jacks up its STAB to ludicrous levels. Mons like Lando who could take a hit and chip it with Toxic now fold to Tera Fire Flamethrower. Tera Grass gives it STAB Giga Drain, surprises Azumaril and rain teams. It also complements Fire perfectly, covering all their resistances besides Dragons. Ghost is my favorite as it lets it use a Sub-QD set to sit on Blissey. Also Ghost STAB is one of the most spammable as of Gen 8. Also Bug Buzz cause Dark Types. Fairy cause its a busted type and it also complements Fire STAB and Psychic coverage.

Normal (Dragonite) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant/Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Fire Punch
- Roost

Let me put this in perspective. Tera Normal Dnite has a stronger E-Speed than Arceus. Thanks to Gen 9 we now have Extreme Killer Lite. The introduction of Boots gave it close to a free opportunity to setup in conjunction with Multiscale, but it had an issue with its STABs not being strong enough to sweep on its own. Good but needed support, nor did it carry whole teams. Dnite now is the carry. Perfect coverage with E-Speed, Fire Punch, something to hit Pult. Also the utility of strong priority also lets it act as a Rkiller, which is gonna be incredibly useful, especially in the early meta where everyone is running offense and trying out the new toys. Probably one of the mons on here that won’t get banned, but will be on the radar.

Give Gumshoos E-Speed you cowards

7DC5B305-C069-40D3-AA85-1800CC5BD308.png

Dark/Steel (Toxapex) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Knock Off
- Haze
- Recover
- Toxic/Scald

I highlighted the offensive potential of Terastilizing, but the defensive potential is just as good. Being able to pick and choose your counters for a specific target sounds unheard of, its like having 7 team slots. Stall gets a huge buff from this unfortunately. Pex has dummy bulk and Regen, meaning it can change its type to pretty much anything the team needs. Take Pult for example. Specs Sballs are stupid. Terastilize into a Dark Type and your team has a dedicated Ghost resist now (also STAB Knock kek) A Steel Type with Regen and reliable Recovery. Why not? Plus you now partner up perfectly with Slowbro. Yay more bs Regen cores. :row:

They already messed up by bringing Pex into SV and now they have granted Pex the gift to check whatever it wants. Very cool GF.

188D64DE-F442-42DC-AB74-8A6142B8B1C1.png

Normal (Noivern) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Flamethrower
- Roost
- Taunt

Lowkey heavily buffed with Tera Types. This thing is Exploud if it was given crack and steroids at once. Reliable recovery, faster than Torn, Taunt, Flamethrower, and bulky for something this fast. Its either gonna be a top OU threat or get banned five months into SV.

7F60A5CD-B8FB-4CE8-AE35-4ACC65857A10.png

Ghost (Dragapult) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Tera Blast
- Sucker Punch
- Dragon Dance

Hey guys wouldn’t it be funny if Pult had reliable physical Ghost STA…..

Here is a small list of OU staples not in SV. It includes but is not limited to

B6F3FC67-6F8E-4177-AD3B-84C2FCD800F4.png

As much as I am glad we don’t have to worry about Tran anymore, we also have to deal with Volcarona’s bs. Defensive fire types like Heattom are gonna be able to find a place with it gone. Alot of mons checked by it are improved such as Weavile.

8DFEB96F-9CA2-4436-8923-5749079DFE42.png

Melm left a big gap to be filled by offensive and defensive steel types.

4B0C2E0F-8A37-4F04-BD42-25980345A49E.png

The biggest change imo. Opens the door for other fairy types to fill in the gaps left behind by Clef. Also dragons, fighting types, and dark types appreciate having fairy types that can actually be worn down lmao. Hydreigon and DD sweepers get a huge boon from this. RIP Bozo XD.

DC4EC858-8F2F-495E-A641-BE96A44DF8DF.png

Second biggest change. For ten years it was OU’s premier grass and steel type. The hazard setter. The leech seeding machine. Today, OU sees light again. Many water types stone walled by Ferro are relieved. Steel and Grass types that were inferior to it now can potentially taste OU viability. Rain goes through a mix between a buff and a nerf. Being both its best ally and obstacle.

Forretress is coming back to OU BABYYYYY!

0f6244b7-7355-4668-8562-6c48c572b957-png.462482

Kart being gone is for the better. Kart with a good offensive typing is something we shouldn’t have to think about. Outside that, Corv can now run more SpD, and Breloom does not get outclassed anymore.

7B4033FD-A55F-428D-8034-C8E8DF4DD1CB.png

Other offensive fairies and psychic types like Hatterene and Gardevoir definitely appreciate it being gone. This mon was dumb anyways.

C8DB5D1B-FE55-4361-A304-3BBA67477D92.png

Other fighting types and water types will be able to fill the gap it left behind like Azumarill. Also stuff like Weavile and Ttar get better, so a big plus. Other bulky wa

BD27BCC3-4399-4FEB-8126-B810A41C4598.png

Every physical attacker not named Blaziken or Gzap sings joy to the world that the Swolesquito is gone. I could name the mons improved by its absence but there are too many.

59203384-6D27-4E15-B04F-C9B2F88F82A8.png

Tera Fire/Ice Koko would’ve been a problem. Weavile gets improved again with having one less thing to outspeed it. Notice a pattern?

D5835E38-1ADD-464B-B556-6642EF7EE511.png

Has a pretty irreplaceable role, but Pokemon like Slowking and Gastrodon will be less popular in OU.

AA765B34-3689-48AC-8E70-40AD31538FA9.png

Typhlosion-H is in the game, so its best not to have it completely outclassed. Tera Type Blace is a scary thought. Gengar and other ghosts can take its place as Pult’s partner on Ghost Spam.

BF8F5C0B-9FEE-49CB-8EB3-EA9FA976944C.png

Sand loses speed control, a wincon, and hazard control. Unless SV introduces another mon with Sand Rush, Sand is looking to be nerfed this Gen. Its probably for the best that we don’t live in a world where Drill can OHKO Corviknight via Tera Fire/Electric.

7C10E7AE-B06F-43E4-8510-65076D192ABC.png
68CB73C9-1C3C-42C9-80B9-7FD1445BBA47.png

No Alolatales means no Veil. No Alolatales means no good hail setters. No Arctozolt means no good hail abusers, assuming Cetitan sux. Grimmsnarl can make a comeback with both it and Koko being absent to set up screens.

8F024993-6E9D-4289-B216-50F7121E19DD.png

Bulu and Rilla are gone, however Khu suggests that we look forward to another Grassy Terrain setter. Rilla being gone buffs rain and stuff like Azu.

60D1EFFC-20A6-4074-8E46-AD83B1C715D1.png

Fat and Stall teams get a boon with it gone. Other bulky CM sweepers can take its place such as Hatterene or CM Vaporeon (If you know you know). A certain Dark/Ice type is improved with it gone.

908157EA-1B05-4D92-BDBE-15D618E0D03A.png

Fighting types and Fire types have less competition, and more open team slots on HO.

4ADA9259-89AD-4880-BC82-A7AD06850E90.png

Toad was a rain team’s secondary rain abuser and ground immune. It being gone opens the door for other Swift Swimmers to see OU success. Toad had a golden time in SS. Being a premier rocker in Pre-DLC and a staple rain cleaner even in the power crept Crown Tundra, it definitely can rest easy knowing it made an impact.

0544A242-574E-42FC-BF0A-4EE80A9D3468.png

Awesome. Pult is the fastest thing in the tier now (so far).
