Scrafty

I find the opposite-any skarm just switches in and starts raping it to death, or whirlwinds it out. Eventually, it's the last pokemon, so i just spam strong attacks.

Taunt is better suited for stall, like Jellicent or Skarmory, not for Scrafty. Scrafty is better suited to boost up once or twice with DD or BU before tearing shit up. A stallbreaker Scrafty could work, but there are just too many Pokemon that are faster then it, and Taunt is a very common move in the metagame, so Scrafty would effectively be screwed if its' only attack is Drain Punch.

I gotta agree on this. Not only that, but you're going to miss that sexy almost unresisted, Fight/Dark. Them if you throw IP into the mix, then it really is unresisted. :)
EDIT: Wait, is fight/dark/ice really unresisted ?

scrafty cant really be a stallbreaker because of his low attack.
i think the only viable sets are

lumdd with drain punch and moxie
leftoversdd with hi jump kick and shed skin
(or any mix of those two)

and shedrest bulk up

Isn't ShedRest BU the greatest stallbreaker of all time?

Or dragonite. Or Azumarill. Or jellicient. Or lati@s. Or gyarados. Or chandelure. Or Salamence. Or choice scarf pokemon.

It all depends on the set. But that's a discussion for another topic.

Well tbh, Scrafty isn't exactly one of my favourite Pokemon. It has a great movepool ans so but I've had trouble finding a nice niche for it on my team. Bulk Up+Drain Punch is a great combo but I prefer that kind of set on Conkeldurr. Although ShedRest is a viable set, for meit doesn't pack the raw power of a true Stallbreaker. The main reason for using Scrafty would be it's access to the 'Holy Grail' of Fighting STAB - Hi-Jump Kick, an asset that many would-be Figting types dream of. Namely, those would be Gallade and Heracross. Maybe one day I'll find a reason to use this PokeGangster competitively.

Well for one thing, Scrafty and conkeldurr serve completly different roles, scrafty uses his bulk up and drain punch defensively, like curselax while conkeldurr uses his bulk ups to simply smash through things. Dont forget it has access to dragon dance and moxie, with just enough speed to use it. getting 354 speed after a DD, enough to outspeed tornadus, Now HJK is massively powerful with a life orb, crunch gets nearly perfect coverage with HJK while ice punch would take care of gliscor. Also, scrafty needs his team support. Things such as dual screens from uxie to be able to set up against more threats, The bulk up set enjoys physical walls that resist fighting such as weezing and gliscor to take attacks for him.

I personally think you are just not finding the combo of team support and moveset thought, just keep trying.

I love Scrafty's Types Dark and Fighting. It's new, and it adds to my all-out Fighting-Type Team.
(If your curious, this is my Fighting-Type Team):
Lucario, Scrafty, Poliwrath, Infernape, Mienshao, and Breloom
My Scrafty is below:
Zikian, Male
Ability: Shed Skin
Nature: Relaxed
Item: Leftovers
Focus Punch
Bulk Up
Substitute
Crunch

I loooove Lum DD Scrafty on my dual screen team.

It's so brainless. Set up screens with Espeon, bring in Scrafty, DD once or twice depending on what gets sent in - and sweep.

This is outclassed by Conkeldurr. While Scrafty in general is by no means outclassed, subpunch is done way better by Conkeldurr who gets Iron fist Focus Punch, 101 Subs, AND higher base power. All Scrafty gets is... stab crunch.

I used DD Scrafty with Shell Bell and HJK, and it works surprisingly well. Heal Bell support is a near requirement, though.

Conkeldurr only gets Iron Fist if you're talking the DW tiers, because it hasn't been released yet (none of the DW abilities for Gen V Pokemon have). Still, it does have higher HP and more power thanks to its much higher base attack.

That doesn't mean that Scrafty doesn't have advantages as a Sub-Puncher though. It can actually take special attacks without crumpling and comes with an immunity to psychic type attacks, which might not have meant much last generation but means a fair bit more in this one. Shed Skin means that if it gets nailed by Toxic because of its low speed (something Conk and Scrafty share), it isn't resigned to dieing from it. Finally, Crunch is sometimes a better option for dealing with Ghosts than Payback, seeing as you can actually go first if you happen to be faster, and it doesn't have reduced power on the switch.

Overall though, is Conkledurr probably a better Sub-Puncher? Yeah, probably. Does it completely out class Scrafty? Not really, no.

Perhaps user Jimera0 meant that no competitively relevant Dream World abilities for Generation Five Pokemon has yet been released!

Anyways, do you guys run Jolly on the DD set to outspeed Haxorous through Tornadus, or Adamant?

Dargon Tail can be interesting on Scrafty. If you predict a Whirlwind/Roar from a a slower Pokémon, you can phase it out first; and it also helps break Bulk Up wars, though those are a lot less common than Calm Mind wars.

Then again, with Dragon Tail you're giving up Ice Punch for Gliscor or Rest, and that'd suck a lot if faced against Acrofling Gliscor.

AcroFling Gliscor is a thing of the past; Dragon Tail will beat it unless it's the last Pokemon. And you can plan on having an ample number of boosts before that even happens. Losing Rest is going to hurt a little, but I'm trying the "Bulk Up/phaze all day" strategy in OU with Throh sans Rest and it's not playing games at all. Scrafty could probably put in some serious work with a set like that too, especially being able to at least see some of that HP back with Drain Punch.

But there's also the matter of Scrafty being significantly easier to break through because of its worse overall defenses and Fighting-type weakness. This might work against it more in battle more than I'm anticipating. Need to put this on my 'to test' list.

Hey howdy hey

this is my first time posting here and wanted an opinion on a scrafty set I thought of

Brave nature +Att, -Speed
goal is to be slow as possible, to ensure the payback boost and have a sub that survives
@Leftover

Substitute
Focus Punch
Payback
Thunder punch/ Ice punch or Bulk Up
EVs are not sure
but I am thinking 252 HP to bulk it up as much as possible the rest either in attack or split between defenses based on ability

the last move is based on its ability,
with Moxie I feel like it doesnt need to beef up its attack and defense, and does rely its survival ability so go with the elemental punch of your choice and need

if its got shed skin then bulk up because its a reliable way to beef yourself up and really hit hard, plus shed skin makes you unafraid of the status effects, if it gets toxic-ed then it should be able to remedy that in a turn or two or three, so it wont just sit there dying, it can wake up early if hypnosis is about, and should be able to regain full attack if a will o wisp is about

I would appreciate if anyone has any comments on this I havent tested it yet but I am currently breeding the pokemon and would be happy to report on it when done

sorry if this is outta place again first post
thank you all
