I don't know if this has been suggested. Could you add the Pokemon's Stats?! just by putting the arrow of the mouse over the Pokemon and it shows the chart of how much Atack it has,SPAtack,SPDeff during battle?! If you know what i mean.

That would be cool.
 
Will you be allowing people to play 6V6 matches, Youve have already mentioned its possible, sure why not build your own metagame =P
 
That'd be fun if we had a league of 6 on 6. That would be freaking crazy. The most hyperoffensive thing ever. Explosion FTW? We'd see a crapload of Ghosts, fast sweepers, choice items and priority attacks, not to mention Scizors.

And yes, showing HP as a % would be much more helpful.

Actually I reckon in 6v6 everyone would just use water absorbing surfers, electric-immune dischargers, airborne earthquakers etc.
 
I wonder if it would be possible to include a feature to disable chats? I like to simply battle, without talking. That's one reason I like battling on the ds with mic turned off; you just battle, no sh** talking to take the fun out of it. (at least, for me) If this is implemented, it could obviously be toggle-able so those who enjoy the chat could still use it.
 
I want to make sure that the item "mail" is implemented into Shoddy Battle 2. According to smogon, when targeting a pokemon holding mail, trick will fail. This is significant and should be implemented.
 
I don't know if this has been brought up or fixed.. Trick/Switcheroo is supposed to fail when the user or target is without an item, yet it doesn't.

The post above about implementing mail reminded me of this.

This is wrong. It has been tested and proven that it DOES switch when the opponent has an item.
 
The answer seems to be "When it's ready."
Granted, there haven't been any updates to the mercurial repository in weeks, but that doesn't mean it's ready.
(it would be kind of nice to hear how things are going though)
 
Will there be access to a GUI for coding? I've heard that the sourcecode could be changed in order to create a different metagame on one's own server, and I wanted to try this myself, but I can't handle jawa >_>
 
I would like the following:

1. The ability to have a tournament organizer, so that tournies dont have to be declared in the main chat.
2. A readout of various effects that are up
3. The abillity to click on an opponents sprite, and see the smogon anaylsis.
Oh, and leg warmers, I feel cold...
 
I was looking at the implemented teams, and if these are for a bot to face you, then these need some work, and only team 7 is EV'ed.
 
And for the Ladder, can you put on NU, Little Cup, and Ubers? It's always tough trying to find an uber battle, and it's near impossible for me to find a Little Cup match. I also battle NU, but always have to settle for the UU ladder. (In which I get whipped). This would be much appreciated. Thank you.

But, I hate the fact that if one wants to take a break from Shoddy for a few days/weeks, one loses points for inactivity. Its a royal pain to spend hours brining one's ranking up, just to be penalized for taking an extended break.

There are probably specific issues circumventing this.

As the OP says the chat will be much more like IRC. Colin said on page 2 that:

We can go on the "Away" status to stop receiving random battle requests, but reading on and on about pointless things on the server and not being able to block such users can be a real pain in the Froslass. So, if you don't want to see the opponent talk, you will be able to simply block them.

There was an update a few days back (after this post), but I think Colin has been concentrating on all the great changes around the Smogon forum, and will probably continue as soon as he is able.

1. Would be best done by a bot that would not be part of the shoddy code.
2. Many things are viewable in SB1, and I thinkSB2 will expand upon this.
3. Could prove annoying especially on slower internet connections (my shoddy often freezes for a few moments when I open a browser), and its easy enough to just have smogon open and type in the Pokemon you want to check mod battle.

This is not part of the shoddy code, but a feature that is set up by the person who runs the server. If a large number of people show interest in a metagame then it is probable that the Smogon SB2 server will cater for them (so long as its an official metagame, doubt we will be getting a random ladder any time soon). However, this issue is not relevant to the SB2 code nor this thread.

The program is internationalisable (there will be a file containing string literals that can be modified to translate the program).
Yes, it will be available in any language that there are people willing/able to translate to.

Ah well, I read about the first 5 pages.
Everything seems to be going up for the program.
6 vs. 6 will be fun.
I only wish I could be more involved. I am a regular 14 year-old with little access to tech and probably won't be able to go to any real life tournaments anytime soon. Sucks

There is a reason for this. If this weren't the case, my 2400 Ladder Rating would never have gone down and good luck beating it, granted it was a glitch. If it didn't gradually go down the ratings would be more like a record book or the high score at an arcade. Why credit someone with a rating if they can't hold it?
 
If I have already changed all the sprites in Shoddy Battle, will I be able to use the same sprites, or will I have to change them all again?
 
Will it be possible to team up with another player's 3 pokemon and battle one other person or two other people who also carry 3 & 3 pokemon? I would love that!

I really like how customizable this is. I hope one day the engine is used for an honest to god fanmade RPG. (That, you know, isn't one of those crappy eclipse-based MMOs)

When is the release date for SB 2?
As I said before, the general consensus is "When it's done".
