All this testing has me wondering, what is the way to best go about T.Spikes? Is that a more offensive based playstyle? I wanted to incorporate it into bulky offense/balance, but between HDB and Corv, it gets tough.

The only good T-Spikes setter is Glimmora.
T-Spikes itself isn't really great in bulky teams. Outside of Boots and Defog, Glowking can just come in and remove all of the spikes.

I figured, the stress of keeping the most easily removable hazards up was too much for my reactive playstyle.

I think for Hazards, I tend to run a core of Landorus-T and Samurott-Hisui.
One has Taunt to prevent Defog, one has Encore. Hisui-Rott can also threaten Tusk without fighting moves.

What battle style do you play with that combo? Is Taunt-do good on slower teams?

Why is giratina-a still Ubers?

If you're genuinely asking, it's because it's a box art legendary and by default it belongs in Ubers. It has monstrous defensive stats and a vast movepool. There is no lack of Ghosts in OU and although it might fit there, we don't necessarily win anything from it joining.

The box art legend means nothing now that Zama is in ou, and we gain another hazard remover that can threaten ghold

the consensus is that ghold is not contentious at this moment, and hazard removal is not scarce due to ghold but due to poor distribution. moreover, giratina has too good stats and distribution for it to be able to do whatever it wants and be waaay too flexible.

most importantly, jump over to the ou discussion thread and see how the argument of unbanning gira or any uber goes over there. there is no collective push to unban any uber. the onus is on those who want it to give solid arguments and change ppls minds. with zama the pros outweighed the cons, and even then some people think zama is too much for the tier

Minor question before I respond to something

Does a Poison Pokemon absorb Toxic Spikes if it is wearing HDB (and thus does not interact with Hazards)?

The box art legend means nothing now that Zama is in ou, and we gain another hazard remover that can threaten ghold
We also gain a 150/120/120 Calm Mind user with essentially perfect coverage (Ghost/Dragon STABs plus Aura Sphere), or Rest-Talk Wisp to basically deny Physical Attackers from existing.

Giratina-A has been discussed before as a potential OU drop and consensus has repeatedly landed on it bringing more negatives than positives to the tier even when Gholdengo was in contention as a healthy Pokemon. Zamazenta was dropped and even though it's stuck around, it's been controversial throughout its stay, which says more to how poorly-tuned it is as a Box Legendary while still out-statting a lot of OU than to be a point in favor of more drops..

For Balance teams, is it better to utilize Hazard removal methods, like Defog and Spin, stick to items like Heavy Duty Boots, or apply more.offensove pressure, even on a hazard based team?

Good evening, I would like to advocate for a new resource. Something like "staple Pokémon" and then sort them by playstyle, e. g. Sticky web: Ribombe and Hold. Could help many people imo.

Quick question as I couldn't find it and the metagame discussion thread discussed it: does Covert Cloak prevent burns from Flame Body or para from Static? It would seem to me that it doesn't but just wanted to make sure.

It does not, covert cloak only effects moves

like above, only prevents effects from moves, but if you want something that does that, use protective pads

If a Pokemon with Thief or Pickpocket attacks an opponent with an item that the move would use up/remove, what order do the effects occur in?

EX: Tinkaton hitting another Tinkaton that has its Air Balloon intact, or using Thief on a Dark-Weak Mon with a Colbur Berry.

Replay shows some of the mechanics, hopefully this answers the rest of it (if not please tell me):

- If the Air Balloon is broken it will not be transferred.
- If the Berry is eaten it will not be transferred.
- If the Berry is not eaten or the Air Balloon is not broken then it will transfer like normal, as long as the Pickpocket user has a free item slot. Thief will always break the Balloon unless the opposing Pokemon has Klutz, is Embargoed, or Magic Room is active. (Klutz Example)
- If the Pokemon using Thief doesn't have an item and uses the move on a Pokemon with Pickpocket that is holding an item, the item will be immediately returned to the original Pokemon.

2 quick questions:

1. Does something in Dittos mechanics make it do less damage? It has consistently been dealing ~15-20% less damage than my opponents mon. Confirmed it isn't item difference after leftovers ticks and the like. I also know it doesn't copy booster energy for some reason so it isn't that.

2. Is there a consistent way to tell if magician will steal the item on the same moment it loses its item? I've been playing a lot of throat spray/psychic noise hoopa unbound. It seems to usually steal boots but it hasn't been stealing primarina's assault vest before taking the moonblast in return.

I'm guessing that it's doing the same amount of damage, it's just less as a percentage of HP because your opponent's mon has more HP than Ditto.
