Also, Elcheeso, I don't realy like the afro thing - that's not your fault, though, 'cause the one that made that afro was either moron or blind. :P
 
But the afro is the source of his power! But yeah, idk. I still had a few things to touch up but I just wasn't sure whether the changes I made to the regular afro break the "scratching must be minimal" rule for the contest. ;-;

Here's the original next to the second two I've made, first one is just the obvious tail change + some shading differences and the last... well... is even more obvious. It's what's going in if the scratching I've done on the former is too much, even though I hate it. The horns look like they're overlapping the claws and it just looks dumb.

Ummm... Scary?... I don't know what to say, realy. Except, can you make the 3rd one with the tail of the 2nd one? I think it'll be better.

As for the sprites- they don't really look like pokemon- they don't really express the same emotion that pokemon do. The light scource is od, and the shading doesn't really match it too well. Also, I would make part of the outlne black, as it doesn't show up at the bottom. They have little depth, and that's not normal for pokemon, or guitars. They are also quite bland. there are no patterns or anything attracting, really. I understand you're new but hey, we all need to go hrough this sometime. :P

Todris: Very good repose. About the guitar mons though, there's actually a vague rule to making things, especially inanimate things, "look like Pokemon":
Rule one: Give it "monster eyes". Why Voltorb and Magnemite apparently look like Pokemon is because of their expressive eyes. Usually, they're kind of big, with small pupils. Like Battack here. :) The cloak dithering and stuff aren't perfect but still.

Rule two: Also, if possible, give it a monster mouth. Look at Rotom Forms for reference.
Rule three: mix the guitar concept with something else. As Albino said, it's a bit bland. Look how Rotom turned a washing machine/refridgerator/fan/lawn mower/oven into badass monsters. Because it's just awkward to slap some...awkward eyes onto something, add some extra stuff onto it and call it a Pokemon. Why Voltorb can qualify is not only because of the monster eyes, but also because of its round, flexible shape as opposed to a guitar's awkward shape.

Well... if you're up for it, I'd like to see mankey punching pinsir in the gut like in my battle ffa pic since it amuses me.

If not (since I know it would be a pain to do), I'd like to see drifloon fused with ho-oh or lugia, preferably with drifloon as the base, but I'll leave that up to you. Drifloon fusions are almost guaranteed to be awesome!

Pinsir-Primeape is doable, but...scratches take me a seriously long time. I'll need another week or so :< I'm sorry.

Hoho! That's awesome and adorable! I love it.

I wouldn't stress about the pinsir thing (it's actually a mankey in the pic), if you're not up for it, it's cool. It's just an option if you're looking for something to do. :O
