On PBR, you have random encounter thing, and honestly,
you most likely fall on a 10 years old who just wanna test his super Giratina combo out,
and tries to cut you to death.

So to potentially counter such crap, is there an in-game "No Uber" system?
[Perhaps similair to the Battle Tower in DP.]

Eh. I was going to get this game purely for mini games since it looked like a stadium typed game. Sadly not.

It will depend on whether or not my wi-fi works at home and my desperateness for TMs.

By the way, is there an auto-level when you have a guest over?

'Some reason, they don't match the "anime" ones.

So no, I just think he needs a new accent.

Nah, they're correct. Why? The announcer was the narrator from the first anime series x) You can turn him off though. But I wouldn't recommend it, because then the battles would be just as boring as they were in Colo/XD.

I've only done two random battles so far, but both of them had prediction skills and used had Mew as an Uber. It can't possibly be as bad as some people are making it out to be, could it?

Except the so called narrator back there didn't speak any Pokemon's name,
except for Pikachu's sometimes.

On a bit of a different note, IGN gave it a 5 out of ten.
Kinda shameful for the first Wifi and the first Pokemon game on the Wii.

I have to admit I'll personally buy it only for 3D Wifi battles & effects [and of course a much cooler character, not to mention the random battle thing which is just great] and for stuff like the VoltSurfing Pikachu, but I seriously hope they weren't expecting some fancy plot.

The entire story mode thing, and the fact that you're pretty screwed without a solid DS team does sound rather annoying, though.

for people debating over 50$... if youre into pokemon you will buy it just cause you get to battle in 3d its cool , i dont care if you think its worth it or not its damn cool lol and the wifi is fun, single player is pretty fun too. is it truely worth 50$? no, did i buy it anyway and will a ton of other people? yes

so really unless youre a teen with no job and 50$ is a lot to you, pick it up if youre on a smogon forum youre a pokemon fan and you will like it

My first fight DCed after I OHKO'd both of his starters on the second turn.

I haven't gotten too many fights. In fact, my only loss was against a pretty odd. I tried to switch my Electivire in for the Motor Drive on a Jolteon, but that was their lead Rain Dancer. After that, I got swept by double STABed Surf on a Swift Swim Kingdra.

i guess 50 dollars isn't much of a barrier for most of you pokemon fans, but it just bugs me that nintendo, as IGN puts it, makes us "pay $50 for yet another iteration of the same console cop-out"

they could have at the very least given a decent 1 player story mode.

It has a decent 1 player mode that is plenty challenging as you progress. I'm actually glad they cut the story out and went with the action after Colosseum/XD, which made me throw up a little with it's shadow Pokemon garbage.

Overall it's basically a battle frontier, and the guy who did the IGN review was spot on with some things and a presumptuous idiot with others. Like when he declares the online battles aren't fun because there's no ranking system. MOST online games I play have no ranking system, or one that's disregarded because it's abused by exploiters.

Col/XD were awesome simply because that was the only place where one could easily get the Johto starters. Otherwise, one must embark on the absurdly tedious journey of getting all 200/202 entries in the Emerald dex - three times. Yes, the story sucked, but so what? Just get someone else (Chunsoft comes to mind due to their pretty cool PMD story) to write the stoyr, volia. But here in PBR, if you don't have D/P, it doesn't look like much fun.

yes, i got the game. i was a bit disappointed with the wi fi and no auto level up all your pokemon. i also would of liked a pokedex thing that would let you see all the 3D models up close and rotate them. Im happy they finally got shiny Milotic right in this game.

I'm happy and pleased with it, but then again it seems like I was better informed than most people. Its been known since before the Japanese release that this was just going to be a stadium game. It was never hinted at anything more. I needed it for 2 things. Wi-fi battling and a tournament system. I wanted to be able to battle other people with out having to exchange friend codes. It does that. Sure, the majority of people I play have ubers, but who doesn't like kicking uber butt with non-ubers.

Secondly, I need a system for running local pokemon tournaments. With PBR I get that too. I can run tournaments through it and it makes for a better showing than a bunch a people playing on DSs. With PBR people can actually watch the battles, and I don't have to worry about internet failings and what not. To think the game was going to be more than it was made out to be is ignorant.

Is it just me, or is the Neon Colloseum easier when you use Rental Passes?

I tried it with my regular party, got mostly CPU Pokes, and my team wiped the floor with me...

Only problem is the people you randomly find suck. And you can't set the game to automatically level your Pokemon to 100 like on the DS. This is really underwhelming for me =/ The graphics don't help. Some of the models look like they were ripped straight out of the N64 games.

That because some of the models ARE reused :E

I find the game a bit insulting honestly... How stupid do they think we are? It could at least have been made a la Pokemon Stadium, with cool minigames and other features, but no. The only factor that could make me even consider buying this piece of crap would be the random battling, something that should've been in DP to begin with... Does anyone know what the retail price is? For the full 50$ this would be the greatest ripoff known to man. I'll wait for some copies to show up on the bargain bins. It's a sad, sad fact that this game will probably sell a million copies.

Considering all the bad things I've heard about this game, whether or not I get it now comes down to one question:

If I play online against a friend (not a random battle), can I set rules, such as 6 vs 6, sleep clause, no Explosion/Destiny Bond/Perish Song on last Pokemon, etc? And do online friendly games auto level your Pokemon if they don't meet the requirements?

I'm surprised that almost a third of the people don't plan on it.......

Why? It's not like it offers anything particularly exciting. I like Pokemon, but not enough to play 30 bucks for a game and another 50 for pretty graphics(scratch that. Dawn looks like a zombie, and Ocelot's head got beat against a wall or something) and some random WiFi.

One common misconception is that the Stadium and Colleseum games had nothing to offer but 3D battles, so I guess Nintendo went and lowered the bar. Which I fine I guess. Most of you are probably getting it for whatever rewards you can get (Electrive and Magmortar, Surfing Pikachu with Volt Tackle, etc.) so I'll just wait for you guys to trade 'em over to me ;)
