Wasn't it on a Flash Sale earlier? Maybe my mind's playing tricks on me again. But yeah Shadow of Mordor is soooooooooo gooooooooood
 
yeah, finally got Shovel Knight and Transistor too

between that and Age of Wonders 3 that's pretty much everything I was looking for out of the sale. Shadow of Mordor was tempting but I can't in good conscience buy it for $30 after it was on sale for $20 before, and I just bought a bunch of other stuff recently anyways
 
I bought Plague Inc and played that a fair bit, but most of the sales have been kinda shit this time around. Nearly everything on sale I already have :(

Just as a side note: Origin is having some good sales too, Command and Conquer Ultimate edition (Every single CnC game) for £12.50...
 
Game of Thrones looks like a cartoon for babies when compared to The Witcher series.
Glorious boobs, bloody action, eyes get poked out, people get burned alive, murders, drinking, tattoos, demon-sex, softcore porn "romance" scenes, brothels, dice playing, arm wrestling, fist fights...this game has everything!

Except for the whole "combat flowing like a river of bricks" and "interface designed by someone high on acid" problems..
 
I don't suppose it's gonna go further on sale, but it's 7.50 and half off already so whatever.

Freedom Planet is the best game I've played in five years. And a week ago Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was the best game I played in five years; I've had some good luck with great purchases.

Freedom Planet is basically a Sonic game if it was made by Treasure (makers of Rocket Knight, Ristar, Dynamite Heady, Gunstar Heroes, etc.). The game is an incredibly clear homage to Sonic, but frankly, it's the Sonic game we have wanted ever since Sonic & Knuckles... and it's better than we could have ever hoped for.

  • The game currently features 3 playable, vastly different, and immensely complex characters, they each even get a unique level to play through. And we're supposed to get 2 more for free sometime in the future.
  • In particular, the main character Lilac feels like a revolution to play. Her movement and attack options flow together so well it's almost like a character action game in 2d, but with the speed of a Sonic game.
  • Each character gets a massive 12 levels to play, ranging from 10 to 15 minutes each on a first play through. Due to the game's original setting, the levels actually feel new and unique, something Sonic hasn't pulled off for a long time.
  • The game is crammed with boss fights, often with more than one miniboss per level. Many are Treasure-esque collections of sprites, not a bad thing, while recurring enemies always bring something new to the table and enhance the story. Also this game gets fucking hard! I died almost a hundred times on my first run, it's pretty great.
  • The game is stunning with its sprite work, backgrounds, and music. Absolutely the kind of effort we need to see more indie games taking (think Shovel Knight if you've played that).
  • The optional storyline is an homage to sonic stories and the characters can be grating, but it's actually surprisingly ok. If you give it a chance it goes to some unexpected places, and has a bit of complexity with the different factions in the plot.
For a not totally finished game (you have 2 full storylines to play through and a classic mode for another character), it's astonishing how good the overall package is. If the two incoming characters retain the same level of quality, I could see this as being the best platformer ever made.

Y'know what, here's what made me buy the game;

Witcher 2 definitely isn't a perfect game (probably the most obvious flaw is that the combat was designed for controller but the menus were clearly designed for M+KB) but it's an above-average RPG on the whole and better looking than most next-gen games despite being more than 3 years old now, for $3 it's a great buy
 
Yeah I played it on the 360. I don't find the combat as bad as people claim it is though, and I began appreciating the game a lot more when I decided to dive deep into its lore/plot by reading the in-game character descriptions (all of which are in Dandelion's pov which I find is brilliant considering he's my fav character), and when I decided to read the witcher books.
 
I guess I'll pick up Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, $30 isn't too bad for a game only a few months old and it's not going to get really discounted more until like summer in 6 months.

It might go cheap in the Easter sales, but again thats a few months to go...

I ended up buying Sim City complete collection on origin the other day, 50% off so 12.50 for the game and all the DLC's is nice.
 
Unrelated to Steam Sales, but related to Shovel Knight, it's on the 3DS store with a 33% discount going on atm. Obviously you can tell what I've been playing because of my avatar.
 
I dunno if people are still looking for games, but Nidhogg is available for $3.74 for another 24 hours or something. I've wanted this game since last January, but couldn't stomach giving a full $15 for it. But at under five bucks, it's a phenomenal buy. Extremely addicting gameplay and easy to pick up with any friend that may be around while you're at your laptop. It's a riot.
