Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v4

I only lurk in this thread and only play casually now, but wanted to talk about Scizor (mostly to change the topic).

Scizor @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Fairy / Water / Fire / Steel
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe (or a fatter spread if you need to survive some KO benchmarks)
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Close Combat / Knock Off
- U-turn
I really like this one! Here's a Scizor set I was using some months back on a grassy terrain team that felt hilarious in its own way:

Scizor @ Normal Gem
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Quick Attack
- Bullet Punch
- Acrobatics / Knock Off

a set designed entirely around being an end game sweeper and/or a bait for a Steel resist for a grassy terrain team. Gem boosted SD boosted etc quick attack absolutely rips, and lets you tear thru steel resists. The power boost might not seem super amazing but it lets you do absolutely hilarious things like OHK Ogerpons not rock themed and sometimes straight murder moltres's if they're a bit chipped

Acrobatics is there for when gem is consumed, but i feel like knock off might be better overall for ghold predicts. Which additionally, you can usually bait shadow ball to get another swords dance up or similar.

Why do I keep seeing Power Trip Corv and why did it just 6-0 me? I’ve seen more Power Trip Corv than defensive in recent history.
short answer: yung crowbar :corviknight:

longer answer: Most people are expecting corv to wind up being setup fodder, and bulk up is generally played around by predicting a body press and switching to something like ghold. Power trip (unsurprisingly) wins pretty hard against ghold and it still has options like BP to play around phazers like ting-lu. Although it generally doesn't much appreciate special electric or fire attacks from mons such as bolt or valiant (does valiant still run tbolt?) but it makes up for this mostly through surprise factor. If you know your opponent is running power trip corv you can play around it but... you don't because most people don't run power trip corv.

nah, this has potential to be something substantial, just gotta wait n' see
You're actually killing us with all the hype. Prepare for Lugia, Palafin, Annihilape, Solgaleo, or whatever mon like Rayquaza Arceus or Necrozma Dusk Mane that people want to drop to OU nowadays I guess.

Anyways we should definitely add full-on gambling to a simulator that survives partly because it makes almost no money and has lots of children playing on it. That would be a good idea.

Finally, to combat Corv's rising usage, why not run a rocker that threatens it out, and guarantee rocks? To do that, why not run Hisuian Arcanine with Boots? (It's good trust me.)
U-turn Resistance, intimidate, and the ability to spread burns and para while also possible beng ok speed control with espeed could actually be good with it being pretty customisable and have pretty decent role compression. I've been testing this set:
Arcanine-Hisui @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flamethrower
- Scorching Sands

What about AV Glowking with Flamethrower to stop Corv's usage? Glowking is a very used Pokemon, the best specially defensive in the tier in my opinion, with a great versatility of moves and 2 main sets played right now in OU:

Slowking-Galar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 192 Def / 68 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psyshock
- Sludge Bomb
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower

Would using Protective Pads for this set work too? You could have teammates that deal with removing hazards

I deadass have no idea what will be tested next based on the tweet lol. What shit has a "movement" behind it? Quick Claw? Tera Blast? Palafin?

If it's Gholdengo because of the stall monarchy's complaints against it, I will be extremely disappointed. This pokemon is the number 1 most honest Pokémon in the metagame, holding the tier together against key threats like Zamazenta, Iron Valiant, and Slowking-Galar, while having an honest stat distribution, and clear flaws, such as a vulnerability to Ting-Lu and Samurott-H, as well as many other Pokémon such as Kingambit, Great Tusk, Dragapult, Cinderace, and even lower tier Pokémon like Garchomp.

As for the meta, anyone else find the DDers to be increasingly annoying? Now that Dragonite and Roaring moon are running more Tera types like Ground and digging deeper into their movepools it's noticably harder to pin them down.
the only things I could see being that insane with a movement behind it are

1. A tera suspect
2. Lugia Quicktest
3. Palafin Retest
4. Zama Retest
5. Urshifu Retests

Tera Blast has a movement but I doubt its enough to send OU into a frenzy, any of the 5 things on this list would though

Gonna be honest, this whole thing still looks like an elaborate troll. Until I see some movement and words that aren't "Nah, relax, this is cool. Trust me on this", i'm not gonna lose my mind over this announcement.

It isn't an unban since that was confirmed. Tera Blast wouldn't "gamble OU's future", while a Tera suspect test would feel like more of an excuse to put this dead discussion further in it's grave. Maybe this is some sick nasty Tournament thry have planned, in which case, sign me up. I'm ready to get my ass kicked by someone magnitutes better than me and use it for character development. But until I see something more concrete, i'm just wondering why i'm supposed to be excited for this

i have a theory that it's literally nothing and finch just wants to see what delusions OU players will come up with if they could do one thing to try and fix the meta without going through standard suspect procedures.

what could possibly be more insane? Because something absolutely insane would have to happen to send OU into a frenzy

He is actually unbanning unrestricted Baton Pass in order to make Toxapex and the big Stall (Haze, Roar, Unaware, etc.) better. Big Stall always has to win.

Edit: I am actually in favor of this, since all the Eeveelutions are good Baton Pass users, especially Espeon.

Till are one (and this thread starts being civil)

:Cobalion:
Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 16 SpD / 240 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Flash Cannon

Today i have done something horrid, whether or not i’ve brought this up is something i do not know, but i do know, is that we should be running experiments for this to test if its a bulky sweeper that is fine with being forced out or am iron boulder level fraud.

regardless, its important to note that it so far matchups AMAZING against kingambit, matchups well against Darkrai, galarian slowking, corviknight and weavile, but has bad match ups against zapdos and pelipper and gets demolished by moltres but this is from speculation and two tests, so i’ll update you on this sheist

oh god not espypass

gotta love how espeon and scolipede were some of the biggest offenders in getting baton pass banned

i have confirmation that it is in fact something. in fact, i know exactly what it is, but i'm not telling, it'll be more fun to see everyone's reaction when it happens
