Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v4

In all seriousness, Solgaleo would be too much to handle, but if it gets unbanned for whatever reason I'm running ID CM Stored Power Body Press tera Fairy, what can check that? I also think all the other Ubers would be too much for the tier. Palafin, Annihilape, Solgaleo, Lugia, Archaludon, Baxcalibur, Chien Pao. None missed in OU.

Neither Solgaleo nor Lugia get Stored Power. Say it with me. They don't learn Stored Power.

Solgaleo, while probably still overtuned for OU, would make for a much healthier suspect than unga boonga Palafin that shits on everything slower since it doesn't have the insane nuking ability Palafin does and can't do the Taunt Bulk up self-sustaining shit Palafin can do. The only thing a Palafin drop would do is contribute to the elimination of bulkier styles in SV OU, which is not a good thing.

As such, I will not contribute to the 500K total for an SV OU suspect as Palafin with Tera legal is an incredibly dumb mon. Without Tera, Palafin would be a fair mon, but with Tera, it is straight up a broken mon and one of the worst drops OU could get, and thus, I am adamant that this test must not happen as it could set back tiering action for months if not the entire generation if it is freed.

Mb, I could have sworn to have seen it in the wiki while reading his moves. Must have seen Cosmic Power or something

“Giratina-A would be a based addition because it’s a bulky Pokémon balanced by bad defensive typing and unreliable recovery that would add another viable Defogger not blanked by Gholdengo”

You sweet sweet little optimist.

Giratina @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 16 HP / 252 SpA / 240 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Aura Sphere
- Destiny Bond

Have fun with Specs Kyurem 2.0.

This would not be a real set as it's much weaker than Kyurem while not having Pult's advantage of very high speed, better coverage, U-Turn, and either Infiltrator for Substitute users or Clear Body for Webs.

Giratina-Altered would also be bad for the meta as Great Tusk isn't ever spinning with this fat pig around. It would centralize the meta even more around hazards and hazard control.

i haven't exactly been having fun with specs kyurem 1.0 but this wouldn't exactly be competition. it's more "slow fat specs dragapult", the damage output isn't exactly crazy

The issue is that Specs Dragapult is already hard to switch into and “fat” is dramatically underselling its ridiculous 150/120/120 bulk. It’ll be the king of 2-for-1 trades, and SV doesn’t need any more strong breakers.
Calling Ghost/Dragon a bad defensive typing is insane
I’m paraphrasing arguments for its legality. If anything, arguing it has strong defensive utility only proves my point more.

Anything that’s weak to Knock Off is a bad defensive typing

Also Deoxys Speed, Iron Crown, Pecharunt and Sinistcha, but I didn't want to crowd the image.

Just donated 3k to the Palafin cause

We're currently in a fairly Hyper Offensive metagame, I believe Palafin can offer some diversity as a threat that doesn't fit very well on these teams (momentum sink) while acting as a strong revenge killer in the format. The main set it was banned for is honestly pretty ass in the current metagame, Bulk Up + Taunt + Drain Punch + Jet Punch quite simply just does not cut it in this format. Very interested in seeing what it could add to the metagame as a new Gliscor answer, as well as potentially propping up rain a bit.

Highly recommend watching the new Pokeaim vid for those currently thinking of different suspect options.

My current Unban/Ban preferences go for: Palafin>Tera Blast>Kyurem AGAIN

Not really a formal list, but I would say stuff like Tera Blast in the metagame, retests like Palafin or Solgaleo dropping down, or Pokemon being tested like Kingambit. We aren’t going to veto something unless it would just be a giant waste of time, but there are only so many things that would be productive

It is time for Palafin to receive justice, Tera to be justifiably retested, and Volc to finally be freed. OU IS BACK!

Finchinator likely already revealed what he considers fair game to be suspected, which are Palafin, Solgaleo, Kingambit, and Tera Blast. That first Tera suspect we got will probably still be the last we get for SV OU. Volc will not return unless Tera Blast is banned. Finchinator personally put in nearly 189K reacts, which is nearly 38% of the 500K total, to testing Palafin, so that's the only thing that has a chance of being suspected.

but if the people want tera gone…

but if the people want tera gone…

Finchinator has done surveys that include action on Tera, and support for action on Tera decreased continuously with passing surveys and was like 25% for the qualified pool of survey takers the last time the question was posed. The appetite for banning Tera just isn't there among the SV OU playerbase, and that 25% wasn't even just for banning Tera outright but also banning Tera Blast, so support for banning Tera is even lower. It's safe to say that barring a huge change in playerbase sentiment that there will not be another Tera suspect.

if i had to guess, once this whole thing is over there will be some sort of shareholder-meeting-type deal where all the people who donated likes to the suspect pool will get to vote on what gets suspected, and their votes will be weighted by how much they spent. if this is how it works, that means the suspect is going to be either palafin or tera—i personally want gambit, but the palafin faction has over 300,000 likes and the tera faction has upwards of half a million (if they all actually show up and respond). so we can kinda already guess it's gonna be one of two things, unless i'm wrong about how the suspect gets decided

Way late to Rillaboom posting, but consider the following:

:sv/Rillaboom:
Rillaboom @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Grassy Surge
Tera Type: Grass/Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Seed
- Grassy Glide
- U-turn/ Knock off

What if boosted Wood Hammers didn't cause Rillaboom to kill itself or make contact with the opponent?
....That's it. That's the whole crux of this set:smogduck:

I thought it up five minutes after I got off from work.

I had been under the impression the Tera suspect already won, so I just gambled all my points. Now we keep seeing the Palafin votes getting pushed. Is the problem just that the voters need to confirm? I feel way out of the loop.
