^ looks great altaria. im glad someone finally agrees that Poulsen deserves to be in the first team. just giving him some time to settle in and play in the first team should give us a solid masherano replacement, and that's what the genius of Dalglish is currently doing.

Otherwise Gerrard has to defend too much. Poulsen is a great player, I thought that in his Juventus time too.

What do you think about the roles of Kuyt and Suárez (you watch PL more than me, I watch Eredivisie more than you).

In summer, a new left back should be bought, then Johnson should be sold, Kelly right back (or just Johnson right back and Kelly on the bench).

Sulley Muntari, another ghanaian international, is going to sunderland from inter. he is a pretty good central midfielder. I would have liked to see a winger instead of another center mid, but I do like muntari a lot after he put in a goal against uruguay.

Suárez gets number #7 in Liverpool (Kyrgiakos already had his favourite #16, Suárez had #16 with Club Nacional de Futbol and Ajax, in Groningen he had #9).

Seems like Suárez will play on the wings looking at this jersey. Good choice, on the right wing he assisted many goals under Martin Jol.

the only way I could accept that Torres leaves right now would be a Chelsea bid 40-50 million £ region (or more ofc) and Nicolas Anelka in the deal as well. The only reason why I, and all Liverpool supporters in general, don't want to sell Torres at this time around is because Suarez was bought to complement him, not replace him. IIRC, Suarez's position of expertise is to play behind the ST, as a secondary striker, and with nobody but a rather inexperienced David Ngog that hasn't adapted to well to the team as a decent striker, I can't see Torres leaving being good for us unless Anelka is part of the deal, but Chelsea are going to have to pay big time if they want him to leave right now..

Torres officially said he wants to leave, and frankly, we should let him leave because he is worth a lot and keeping an unhappy player isn't the wisest thing to do. Torres will be 27 in March, he is getting older and he wants to win some trophies, and we should respect that.

"Aston Villa's Stephen Ireland is undergoing a medical ahead of proposed loan move to Newcastle "

im sure this is good news for lee, ireland is really underrated imo.

Yeah, I was a big fan of Ireland in his Man City days, it's a shame he didn't really click at Villa. I'd rather we signed a centre-back, right-back or striker though because we don't really need a midfielder. I feel we have a really strong midfield already in Nolan, Barton, Tiote, Gutierrez, Smith and Ben Arfa (due back in Feb apparently). Our strikers, on the other hand is Carrol, and then a handful of players who -probably- aren't Premiership quality in Ameobi, Best, Lovenkrands and Ranger. I'd have loved a clinical finisher to feed off of Carrol's knock-downs and scraps. The defense is weaker than I'd like too.

Still, I'm very happy about this news.

makes a change tbh, usualy chelsea get those.
i would rather hae had bolton or wigan so stupid weakened sides dont get used, rather have full strength side out.

NAC Breda - Ajax 0-3

Ajax surprisingly won, and it was deserved. After the quick 0-1, NAC winger Leonardo lost the ball in his own penalty area to Ajax left back Daley Blind (son of Danny Blind, worldwide seen as a top defender in the eighties and nineties playing for Ajax), then Blind passed to Siem de Jong who tapped in easily. In the second half, Mounir El Hamdaoui came on as a substitute and made his rentree (hasn't played since the beginning of December) and made/prepared the 0-2: after a great action of him, he shot on the knee of NAC defender Rob Penders, and the ball went in. It was counted as an own goal, but it could also be given to El Hamdaoui. In the last minute, Man Of The Match Christian Eriksen prepared a great goal of Miralem Sulejmani.

Soooooooooooo

Looks like Torres is gone to Chelsea....

and Liverpool have put in a £30 mill bid for Andy Carroll of Newcastle....

Don't do it Ashley! :pirate:

edit: TOON REJECTED IT YEAH

but Torres is gone. £48 mill in the end, expected at chelsea training ground later today!

30m for Andy Carroll is ridiculous, i know there isn't a lot of decent strikers available but i am sure they could either hold out for Anelka or find someone else half decent for a lot less, then spend big in the summer.

saddest day.

the saddest day.

wouldn't like to be a bouncer on merseyside now though.

Funny how a year ago no one would buy the club for 100 mill... now they're paying a third of that for a lad from Gateshead... absolutely ridiculous.

They could have probably got Fernando Llorente for half of that, he is pretty much the same type of player as Carroll, just as good in the air but is also better with his feet then Carroll.

I don't see why Newcastle supporters are against this transfer, 35 million is a lot. You can get better strikers for that price.

a) It's the last day of the transfer window. Sell Carroll now and we're stuck with Ameobi, Best, Ranger and Lovenkrands for the rest of the season. With Carrol, 7th is a possiblity. Without Carroll a relegation dogfight is a real possibility.

b) Mike Ashley's greed is legendary. We'd be lucky to see half of that money. There's already suspicions that he has only left the transfer to the last day so that he can justify pocketing the money rather than spending it.

c) Carroll is a Geordie and that means a shitload up here. Sell him and buy some Johnny Foreigner...eh, no thanks.

@ the carroll doubters: he's the future of english football and everyone knows it. It's not just a moment of madness on Liverpool's part - Tottenham offered close to 30 million as well last week.

I think he needs to grow up a lot... he's a top player but has a lot of issues off the field that need dealing with - and where he is right now is the right place for him, near his family and friends and with the club he loves... I wouldn't mind selling him in a year's time, but now isn't the right time for him, or us! We still need his goals too, and there isn't a whole lot of Premiership quality around in this window. Most of the journeymen have been snapped up (Keane to Wolves, Beattie to Blackpool, Phillips staying at Birmingham etc).. and all that's left is second rate strikers (see Jay Bothroyd, Carlton Cole, fucking Heskey) or young, raw talent, which we already have. Going into Europe and buying an unknown quantity from some Dutch league or whatever isn't the way forward, especially when we still need to get points to ensure survival this season. That's why I don't want to see him move.
