A few things I want to post about, though I don't really care about the Rooney situation. It's done with, as long as we beat Fulham tomorrow no one will bring anything up. So, first thing's first:
vs.
Kuszczak
Brown Smalling Vidic Evra
Nani Scholes Anderson Fábio
Owen Berbatov
--
Amos; O'Shea; Gibson, Carrick, Park, Valencia; Hernandez
Rafael, Fletcher, Hargreaves and Lindegaard are likely still out, while Evans and Rooney are suspended.
Brown and O'Shea aren't on the injured list now, so one of them will start at right back as Fulham have good height with the likes of Zamora and Hangeland. Nani only played a little in the last two games, so he'll surely start. Anderson has been confirmed to feature (though he may not start) while Scholes hasn't played a game for ages due to a suspension and the internationals. Owen should make his second start of the season in the League..
Kuszczak in for van der Sar (let his groin rest before Chelsea). Smalling in for Ferdinand as he'll start against Chelsea again. Valencia, Hernandez, Park, Carrick, Giggs, and Rooney are all likely getting rested before Chelsea (whether intentional or not).
Not entirely sure what Fulham will do. Back Four of Baird, Hughes, Hangeland, and Salcido. I expect a 3-man midfield, Zamora up top. They got their win against Blackpool, so I think they'll be happy to shut up shop and settle for a point at Old Trafford. They might rest some players like Murphy and Dempsey in favour of getting Sidwell and Gudjohnsen some game time. Saving their key players for matches they think they can go and win.
I think Manchester United will win 2-0.
PFA Player of the Year
PFA Player of the Year nominations: Gareth Bale, Charlie Adam, Samir Nasri, Scott Parker, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Nemanja Vidic, Carlos Tevez
PFA Young Player of the Year Nominations: Gareth Bale, Seamus Coleman, Joe Hart, Javier Hernandez, Nani, Samir Nasri, Jack Wilshere
Most of it, I can't disagree with. But players like Vincent Kompany have missed out when he's been outstanding, while it is an absolute farce that Nani is up for PFA Player of the Year and the likes of Bale and Nasri are.
I'll admit that Nani isn't much of a likeable character, but he's been far better than Nasri this season and no one is noticing it.
Nasri: Appearances: 40 | Goals: 14 | Assists: 4
Nani: Appearances: 38 | Goals: 10 | Assists: 18
As for Gareth Bale, I like him a lot, but his 'season' is basically being defined as his two performances against Inter (albeit against arguably the best Right Back in the world right now). He has 1 Premier League Assist to his name, and 7 Goals.
I just feel sorry for Nani because, IMO, he's been better than Nasri and Bale overall this season, not just in regards to end product either - he's been consistently there and contributing, while improving his play acting that got him disliked in the first place. While, like Berbatov (who hasn't been nominated) Bale and Nasri have had spells of being amazing, then dropped off and done nothing for weeks. PFA Awards are so flawed it's crazy. I bet Bale and Wilshere run away with the awards as well.
However, I'm of the opinion that Vidic has been by far the best for his position. If Vidic doesn't win the PFA Player of the Year Award, then they should basically stop putting Defenders on the short-list.
Rant over, onto the Championship :D
It's really exciting at this stage (though it may have been all season, I just generally focus on the end of the season and play-offs). I honestly think the top 5 will probably stay the same now, just not necessarily in the same order. I'd expect Reading to hold on as well, but late charges from Millwall or Burnley might edge them (and I wouldn't count Forest out just yet).
I really want Swansea in the Premier League, but I also want Leeds back because it means more derbies for my Manchester lot :D I'd also be happy to see Norwich and QPR back.. So as long as it's three of those four, I'll be excited. I'm not so fussed about Cardiff, while Reading and Burnley have had their shots not too long ago. Forest would be a welcome return, while my next door neighbour is a Millwall fan so that could be fun.
