Gene whateverthefuck is the worst homer in the history of homers. I could not believe how he defended everything about Brett Favre's role in this shitfest. If Brett Favre says he is coming back after this, then I hope he dies in a tractor accident.

First day of Free Agency, folks! And the results are already in... LOL REDSKINS, EAGLES, BUCS!

Who's next?

Jets picked up a solid guy again in Bart Scot. This will help Vernon Gholston develop too.

Even if I assume the Jets will fuck up the draft (expected as Jets' fan), I'm excited for next year :)

Hopefully we can get this Brett Favre fiasco behind us.

I'm just happy my the Saints re-signed Vilma.

Now we're pursuing CB Ron Bartell, S Gerald Sensebaugh, and OT Kalif Barnes (which doesn't make any sense to me at all).

Really? It seemed like a pretty poor deal to me considering that Thigpen looked competent enough at the end of the season to justify letting him continue as the starter. That said, they didn't give up too much for him (and Vrabel). I think the fact they need to pay Cassel's now-large contract (due to the Patriots' franchise tagging) is a bigger worry than the price the Chiefs paid to get him.

It was a horrible trade without money considerations involved, so I think this move pretty much signals this NFL season following the NBA, though of course the NFL always has more flexibility with the low amount of guaranteed money.

the Chiefs are lucky they only had to give up a second round pick (#34 overall) to get Cassel (and also got Vrabel as part of the trade). the Broncos had a deal set up that would send Cutler to Denver as part of a three-team trade with the Bucs. New England would have received Denver's first round pick (#12 overall), Cutler would have gone to Tampa, and Tampa would have sent first and third rounders to Denver.

The franchise tag makes this trade unappealing for KC. While I think Cassel is an upgrade over Thigpen, Thigpen played very well down the stretch last season, and should have been given a legitimate opportunity to run the team this year (given what KC had to give up for Cassel). Also, KC did not have an extension worked out with Cassel before trading for him, so now Cassel has some leverage. I would have only done the trade had Cassel agreed to an extension that paid him peanuts for the first year or two (to offset the $14.whatever million he's getting this year)... or if they could renegotiate the $14 million number down by like $5 million in exchange for a big extension... but since Cassel signed the tender, I don't think there's anything anyone can do to reduce the $14 million he's getting this season.

the chiefs have a ton of cap room. it's an expensive 1 year tryout, basically, but if cassel performs like he did last year, the chiefs will lock him up to a long term contract.

plus the chiefs still have the third overall pick, another opportunity to get a big impact player or trade down and stock up on solid picks (which is what they should do imo)

that's what i think anyway

I honestly have no idea what he is thinking going to a team coached THAT poorly...unless the logic was 'hey I can walk all over him'. I was shocked when a team like Panthers with Steve Smith in his prime did not pursue him, and I am shocked a team like the Colts did not pursue him now. Someone with an already pretty electric passing game wanting to make it ridiculous should be delighted to have him, whiny asshole or not.

I haven't talked to a single Bills fan who doesn't like the pickup.

I'm one of them as well.

One year, $6.5 million. That's not a bad deal to get that kind of talent in T.O. I gotta admit, this may be a worthwhile gamble; and since it's a one year deal, you can cut the man at anytime if he causes a huge distraction to your team.

DM you know better than this.

Trent Edwards ALREADY has confidence issues.

TO has shit on every QB he's ever played with.

He might be just fine year 1, but year 2-3 it will be a disaster just like it's been for every other team in the NFL.

I don't understand why any team in the NFL other than Oakland (who don't care about chemistry) or New England (who have unbreakable chemistry and team cohesion) would want him on their roster.

He's good if you need a good receiver to boost your core group of receivers for one maybe two years when a team is rebuilding, but other than that he is somewhat of a dead weight.
