Eagles used to be a top team in the NFC
the Chargers had the best record in the league last year
the Giants are one of the top NFC teams
the Redskins have a winning record
the Broncos were at the top of their division
the Chiefs were at the top of their division
Minnesota has the best rusher in the league and Favre broke the record there.
and the Packers and Vikings have always been a good rivalry.
Yeah...They might not win the Super Bowl, I wish they would, but they're a good team.
The Patriots already won the Super Bowl anyway.
Key word you use quite often "were." Lets go down that list of teams you are making out to be some of the best, and remember, last year has nothing to do with this year, case in point: the Chargers. 14-2 last year does not reflect to anything this year.
Eagles: You used the words "used to," which is right, they used to be good, but right now they are 3-5 and cannot score at all apart from that anomaly vs Detroit.
Giants: Sure they are near the top now but everyone had them at the bottom after the first 2 games, they gave up 45 and 35, and since then have not given up over 24. Many attribute it to the new defensive scheme they had in place that the players still had to get used to. Once the first 2 games seem like an anomaly. 6-2.
Chargers have looked average which also reflects that in their record of 4-4. The 4 teams they did beat have a losing record and have even lost to teams with losing records. Norv Turner is a different coach from Marty.
Minnesota: 3-5 even behind Adrian Peterson, they lack a pass offense (no QB or WRs) and have no pass defense (give up 288.3 per game), something gunslinger Favre can take advantage of.
Loss to Chicago is pretty inexcusable, they're 3-5 and seemingly lost their vaunted defense of the past 2 years.
Washington: Finally a team with a winning record? 5-3 is good in the NFC but then you have to look at the Redskins wins, are they validated? Beating the Jets and Dolphins is not something you want to brag about with their combined 1-16 record, the rest of their wins come from sub .500 teams with the sole exception of Detroit who have either blown out the opponent or been blown out themselves.
Denver: Dre Bly and Champ did not look like the shut down corners they are, and they gave up several long bombs form Favre. But the Broncos are still not what they used to be, with their only surprising win coming against the Steelers, another 3-5 team here.
Kansas City: 4-4 but guess what, their wins come from sub .500 teams and the loss of Larry Johnson during the game did not help one bit. They couldn't shut the game out by running with their star so they got into a 4th quarter shootout.
and believe it or not but the Packers had one of the
easiest schedules coming into this year, with them at the bottom half of that chart.
So in short, I am not sold on them at all, but they seem to be winning when they shouldn't, lets see if this continues into the playoffs and the second half of the season, but right now I would be more scared of the Cowboys and Giants right now. Both of whom have something to prove next week.
But I'm not trying to take away from what they are doing, it is great, but you do have to put things into perspective here.
