I've been thinking about something someone posted quite a few pages back...if the Patriots do go undefeated, NFL pundits will talk about it for the rest of our lives and many will view it as the greatest season and greatest team...ever.

I guess before, I'd never really realized the history we COULD see unfolding before our eyes. I mean, we may never see this again man.
better!

I've been thinking about that for a while now. They talk about how this might be the greatest football team...ever. Also that Tom Brady is having the best season a QB has ever had. This is a season that might be remembered for ever. And we have the pleasure of watching it.

I feel the same way when i see Adrian Peterson run. I know i'm jumping on the bandwagon, but watching him run i don't feel like anyone is going to bring him down. Did you see him freeze the guy on Detriot. Unbelievable.

Its also the same thing when i watch joba chamberlain in baseball. I can't help but feel that we are coming into greatness.

Actually the REAL IRONY here is that we all said that to show much of a hypocritical idiot of a fan you were. We don't really give a shit how much Favre sucked, we just knew that you would resort to attempt the reasons we gave previously, therefore you are now admitting that Favre did get shut down as well as AP, or AP didn't get shut down and nor did Favre. Either way, you're a hypocrit and regardless of what you say, anyone with half a brain here knows that no one gives a shit how poorly Favre played.

Well you obviously give a shit because you were one of the first to point out how bad Favre did.

@Steeler- I also feel that way when i watch Brett Favre tbh, not that any of us want to get into the greatest quaterback ever debate, because no one would have a legit argument as paper alone is not enough to determine who is the best. I won't say Favre is better than Starr, because i've never seen Star play.

To rub it in your your fucking face. Admit he did bad and just shut up, nobody will blame you for supporting your team just stop doing it like a douchebag.

I like how you can conviently leave out the fact that AP was over 4 yards a carry, and I believe over the average YPC when he got taken out.

Favre had a passer rating below 9, there is a huge difference.

Care about Favre? Hardly. The fact of the matter is that all of us are on mIRC every Sunday talking it up about football and the fact that we only care for Packers to lose is cause of your ignorant biased reasons as to why Packers are the greatest blahblahblah. Yes, you impact our online lives that much for us to take joy that the Packers lose.

In fact, there were even people in the chat who wished to see your priceless face the second Favre was shown injured that play, so just because I bring everything to your attention first does not mean that I care worth a damn how well Packers do.

Do everyone a favor shut the hell up about the Packers already. You'll do EVERYONE much more help. Jesus christ.

@JTH
I already said Favre did shitty, if your going to flame me read my damn post. I like the fact that you leave out that Favre played for 15 minutes. You always use this average shit and don't realize that he got 40...40 YARDS. There's no need to rub it in my face? I know what happened thursday, Of course i saw the game, it's not like i had a date. I've been through denial now and slowly I am starting to come out of it. Yes the Packers are 10-2, we lost. But the fact of the matter is your just being a moron. Just leave it! I said Favre sucked the first quarter, shit happens! And it did. I never compared AP's performance to Favre's, just some of the comments that people were making to me back then, and then now, pretaining to how it doesnt matter if someone in injured, you still shut him down.

You know it's easy to try to turn everything around, but you can view it like this and get what i'm trying to say:

For the amount of time he played, AP was not shut down.
For the amount of time Favre played, he was shut down.

What is getting overlooked each passing week in light of the Pats' undefeated season, the Cowboys, Colts and Packers and the Dolphins' winless season is how the Bucs and the Seahawks are quietly having an admirable resurgence.

People are so quick to crown the winner of the Cowboys Packers (Cowboys) as the ones "to lose to the Pats," but I don't think it is that clearcut. In fact, I think Tampa Bay can take the Cowboys on very well.

The Seahawks never go away I swear. Even last year, people were burying them, and they end up getting to the divisional championship.

They still have a a lot of talent; the only problem has been health, especially of Alexander.

I honestly disagree, and strongly. Alexander was having a weak season, and after he went down and they were teetering at .500 (4-4) it seemed like they were done. But first Hasselback stepped up his game and played like a franchise QB, then Morris showed up and started tearing it up on the ground. Injuries won't sink this team, especially not Alexander's, because (sorry to say) he isn't affecting any game outcomes anymore.

But I agree about the Bucs, what a great story that is. I'm glad Garcia is finally getting some credit somewhere after leaving San Fran, he showed flashes of his brilliance in Philly last season before they dumped him, and now he's showing them what they missed out on. And considering the dearth of QB talent across the league right now, the depth TB has at the position is just astounding. They're a solid contender.

The man who gave Alexander is MVP season is like somewhere a few hundred miles to the east blocking for some random rookie though...I wonder how that's turning out...

Also Hasselback is like top8 QB this year. It's funny how ridiculous that position is doing tbh

Yeah I like Tampa Bay over Seattle just because of that Defense. But I like the Vikes over anyone except GB\dallas\Tampa atm in the NFC.

So a DB -idk his name- from the Steelers guarentees a victory over the pats this week. Kind of sounds like Porter lol. Also who's better Steelers or Jags?

Steelers/Jags would be a toughy...I dunno man. Both have great rushing attacks and solid QBs. And stout defenses...

I'm obviously biased, but I think the Steelers have the better defense/scheme and a better QB. Garrard isn't exactly a caretaker, but he isn't a huge playmaker either. I don't think he has more than 10 TD's this season, but that could be wrong. Not to mention he was out for two (?) games...I just think Roethlisberger makes a lot more big plays for his team, which both the Steelers/Jags will need in two weeks...as those defenses aren't going to easily give up any long TD drives.

Santonio Holmes needs to get healthy like now kthxbai

Personally I'm just glad the Patriots' two near-losses has shut up everyone bitching about running up the score.

Still, hopefully the Patriots will resume their regularly scheduled opponent stomping. These nail biiting 8:15 PM games are making me lose sleep.

Hmm?

I thought I was commenting on how resilient they were to struggle through injuries (Weren't people like Peterson and Trufant hurt at various points as well?) and still look like a good to great team.

I don't really buy Morris as a #1 back, sadly, so they're going to have to address the RB position in the future, but Hasselbeck's still got a few good years left in him, the rest of the team is relatively young, and Holmgren is a great coach.

Definitely at least 3rd in the NFC, and is more than capable of winning the NFC.

I wouldn't bet much on Tampa or Seattle. If you take a look at their schedules they haven't beat anyone that good. (The same can also be said for the Giants.) I really wouldn't be surprised if both Tampa and Seattle lose first round in the playoffs to wild card teams.

The two wildcard teams will most likely be The Giants and The Vikings.

Tampa has a great defense but the weak point of their defense is against the rush. The giants are ranked 6th in rushing offense. The Vikings are ranked 1st. Tampa's hopes against the Vikings would lie in Joey Galloway catching the deep ball since the Vikings are ranked last in passing defense. The Giants have the best pass rush in the NFL so the deep ball would be alot less effective.

Seattle on the other hand is a different team. A strong passing game with one of the best receiving cores in football but their running game is missing. There defense is the perfect example of mediocre. The best part of Seattle's defense is their pass rush which is really good and is often over looked. But their rush defense is not close to good enough to stop AP or the running back tandems of the Giants. The biggest advantage Seattle has in the first round is home field. They are 2-3 at on the road and 6-1 at home. But the Giants are 5-1 on the road. The Vikings on the other hand are 2-4 on the road.

Seattle has a very good chance at beating the vikings. The Vikings secondary won't be able to match up with the 5 receiver sets that the Seahawks will run. But if they face the Giants i think they will lose.

Don't count on it. The reason you don't hear people bitching about blowouts is because they're not doing it anymore. They got figured out, their weaknesses have been exposed and exploited, and now they're going down.

Not that I disagree with anything your saying, but things turned out all right for the Packers, 10-2. Not to bad for the pats either. Maybe more teams should just screw this ball control "philosophy". I mean, if it works, sure it's great; win the game 14-0. Nothing wrong with that tbh. Infact it sort of works fairly well for most teams. Vikings, Chargers anyone? By all means IF it works i would support that. However, i think ball control should not be a teams primary offensive scheme. More so a fall back plan if your quaterback has a moment or the weather is crap. I think that airing it out more and a west coast style is a much more effective strategy. Screen passes are fun, and so is play action. Im not saying you have to pull a mike martz here, its great to still have a running game established. But i really think passing should be your primary offensive attack. Championship teams are getting much better at stoping the run. Its just to easy to bring down a SS and just own the crap out of the running game. I feel as if there is a huge lack of decent cornerbacks in this league, and you need more than 3 to cover decently.

Mr. Packers is probably right for once, but I'd chalk up part of it as the rules continuing to get more and more friendly for QBs and WRs year after year not to mention the fact that your average WR is a few inches taller than a CB. But you gotta work with the talent you have and if that's Moss/Stallworth/Walker there's no problem throwing it 70% of the time. When you have Neal blocking for LT back there, then of course you're gonna run the football more.

Balance is important, though, regardless of your focus. Detroit ran the ball THREE times last week, no wonder Kitna is by far the most sacked QB in the league. It's not like they even have a bad running game, Jones is a good back and Jones/Bell/Duckett all together are a pretty decent committee. They need to run the ball more if only to keep the defense honest and keep their QB out of the line of fire so often. The Cowboys and Patriots do a good job throwing in some runs, plus Green Bay since Grant became the starter. The Chargers went out and got Chambers to stretch the field so opponents can't simply stack the box on LT and double Gates every play. These are teams that play offense to their strengths but have good enough balance to prevent the defense keying in solely on that aspect of their game.

They still have a a lot of talent; the only problem has been health, especially of Alexander.

Alexander's a washed-up bum who was never really that good in the first place.

And considering the dearth of QB talent across the league right now, the depth TB has at the position is just astounding. They're a solid contender.

Don't confuse having a lot of QBs as having good QB depth. "Depth" usually entails they also don't suck, granted Luke McCown looked pretty decent last week.

I think Bell has been active for most of the season actually. Regardless, Jones and Duckett are good enough to have a solid running game, especially now with Williams probably out for the season.

Man I just have to post this because of how awesome my predictions always are. The MINUTE it happened I said that that was one of the worst, if not the worst, ever trades in NFL history. Now, I may have been overreaching, since Matt Schaub did not turn out maybe as horrible as like Ryan Leaf, but seriously, Matt Schaub for David Carr was such a horrible idea.

From the Bill Simmons column:

"TEXANS (+3) over Bucs
The Matt Schaub trade might be headed for the "worst trades of the decades" list: Atlanta's season was killed because the Falcons were stuck without a decent QB when the Vick thing happened, and Houston's season was killed because they gave up two second-round picks for a guy who's apparently made out of paper mache. Has anyone else killed two teams in the same year? I'm making him my 2007 Anti-MVP. Meanwhile, every sports bar in the country had a Double McCown going last Sunday in the late games -- Josh and Luke lighting it up in victories at the same time. And you wonder why I bought earthquake insurance for my house."

I just wanted to say that the Pittsburgh defensive back that GUARANTEED a win over New England AT HOME is a god damn fucking retard. If anyone can beat the Patriots before the season is over, its the Steelers, but honestly, I feel this kid is going to be eating his words after this weekend.

I'm impartial to the Patriots. I don't want them to win the super bowl but I'm not necessarily rooting against them. I do, however, love some of the players on their team.

Everyone fucking hates Belichick, which is awesome. He doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks, which just adds to the hilarity. He can be such an ass and further shoves it down your throat by beating you.

A lot of people don't like Tom Brady, which I also think is funny. He has the statistically best football season ever on his shoulders, fucks super models, and looks like Leonardo DiCaprio.

And I just like watching Randy Moss play. He's a god damn freak of nature, his natural talent combined with his perfect physique make him so much different from any other receiver to play the game. Have you seen him just reach over two defensive backs covering him tightly to catch the ball? It's insane.

I agree, when I first heard about what Anthony Smith said, I thought this guy was pretty damn retarded. I mean yeah, I like our chances against the Pats, but guaranteeing a victory is pretty ignorant on his part.

I hope this doesn't give the Pats fuel to play even better or pile it on or whatever.

<- Wow this is so cute. Funny thing is after a few more weeks it's not going to mean anything so idc tbh. Don't tell me every other QB in this league hasn't had a bad day.

Brett Favre named sports illustrated Man of the year. WOOT

I think one of the reasons the pats struggled as of late is because no one was talking big about taking them down. So i really look at Smith as being an idiot. Its also unfortunate that there is a week between the ship and the Superbowl, alotting plenty of time for dallas (t.o) to talk. Sort of reminds me of the superbowl that the Packers lost. Elway and his boys were talking ALL week about how good the Packers were, and Shanahan planned that. Perhaps if dallas can do the same, the pats will lose.

GB vs. Oakland has been a pretty historical Match-up...espcecially the last 20 years. Of course, We beat them in the superbowl, but that was just to long ago for me to care. In 1993 Leroy Butler leaped into the crowd for the first Lambeu Leap after Reggie pitched it to him on a Pick or fumble, i forget. Brett Posted an excellent game 2 days after his father passes away on MNF. In this game, Charles Woodson will start agaisnt his former team, who's pass defense is actually fairing well without him. This is the first time Oakland has come to GB in 13 years. I think its pretty much going to be all on the ground. Its ironic that since week 8 Ryan Grant and their back (idk his name) have the most rushing yards in the NFL. I think we will come out running the ball, its supposed to snow anyways, and with Favre hurt, i dont think that we will see another 300+ passing game.
