Very bummed if not completely surprised about my Caps and Devils :(
Went 6-2 in predictions but only got games right 3 times... as far as round two:
San Jose Sharks(2) vs. Dallas Stars (5)
This will be a really good series I think. San Jose is probably a better team, but I am leaning toward Dallas because in spite of playing a team that is supposed to be very physical in Anaheim they didn't seem to get worn down quite as much as San Jose did against Calgary. A few days rest will probably help them as well in the later games of the series. This one should last seven.
Detroit Red Wings (1) vs. Colorado Avalanche (6)
Something about making this prediction seems heathenish but I really don't have a very good feeling about this match up. We won the season series 4-0, but none of those games contained Peter Forsberg or Adam Foote and most of them didn't contain Joe Sakic or Ryan Smyth. Even without the players most people would consider their stars we nearly lost a couple of those games and they were one of a handful of teams that got to us physically(Lidstrom injury, for instance)... this will probably go to game 7, but I don't predict us winning this one seven zip.
But I sure would enjoy it if we did.
Pittsburgh Penguins (2) vs. New York Rangers (5)

AND MOST OF ALL FUCK BOTH OF THESE TEAMS'S FANS
Isn't there some way they can both lose? Like a meteor or something?
Montreal Canadiens (1) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (6)
As the only team remaining I don't completely abhor in this conference I am putting my faith in Montreal, who conveniently I think is the best of the four games remaining anyway. The fact that Boston series went 7 games worries me, but Philly went seven as well so at least fatigue should be even. Power Play should be a huge factor here with both teams being so strong in that department, but while I'm sort of skeptical about the goaltending for both teams I am going to take Carey Price, who I like, over Martin Biron, who I do not. Habs in 6.
There are way too many teams still alive in the Pacific and Atlantic divisions. In spite of predictions, definitely rooting for San Jose, Detroit, Meteor, and Montreal. I'm not a big Sharks fan but I'd be pretty ok with San Jose winning because of Roenick and that would get me up to a 75% chance of a team i am satisfied with winning the cup. Montreal's fans would probably get on my list after winning a cup but honestly seeing what happens in Montreal in the 48 hours after a cup win would be totally worth it.
EDIT: Editing in some NHL.com article stuff because it fits my western conference pick perfectly
The teams have met five times in the postseason, all between 1996 and 2002, with Detroit beating Colorado in the Western finals in 1997 and 2002 — going on to win the Stanley Cup both times. In 2002, the Avs led the series 3-2, but Detroit won 2-0 at Denver in Game 6 and 7-0 at home in Game 7. The Avs beat Detroit in six games in the 1996 Western Conference final before beating Florida to win the franchise’s first Stanley Cup. Colorado also beat Detroit in six games in the 1999 Western semifinals and in five games in the Western semis in 2000. On both occasions, the Avs lost to Dallas in the Western finals.
Okay SO history is going to repeat itself and Colorado will go on and lose to Dallas. My next prediction is already set!
