I'll probably track it down later, but there's a nice joke article on theonion about a night when a whole bunch of players had three point games, and there are a couple line by bettman emphasizing that unlike Sidney Crosby, the other players who did the exact same thing are NOT saving the NHL. I really dislike the Penguins and it has nothing to do with the team - partially because I find they have a really annoying fanbase and partially because i find it incredibly obnoxious how the hockey media inserts on shoving Crosby = Jesus at me.
That said, rooting for him in this series since with Anaheim out the Rangers are my least favorite team available(which is funny since I had three of my least favorite Rangers on my fantasy team), but it's good to see things like Jagr leisurely gliding across the ice since it's probably indicative that they will not get passed this round.
As far as the Red Wings/Avalanche series... "you're not in trouble unless you lose on home ice" gets thrown around a bit and that is probably the deal here, but with that said the Avs need to win all of their home games and then steal one of two games at the Joe, where the Wings are yet to lose in the playoffs this year. I'm not sure I would have predicted Colorado knowing that Forsberg is out because I do not feel that they are a better team than Detroit without him and with five games to go they're down to 2 games they can "steal" rather than 4 and Forsberg being unavailable(especially in game 1) might have turned the tide. Either way, this series is far from over but it's hard to overlook how mediocre Theodore has looked in the first two games considering he was the early front runner for playoff MVP by a lot of media outlets. That Nashville line is pretty silly though considering they won the series, Stall, lol.
Regardless, all of these series are far from over. Detroit, Dallas, Philly, and Pittsburgh got enough wins to have essential home ice for the remainder of their series, but that hardly determines the winner.
