I could've gone today if I had $70.
Needless to say, I don't have $70.

FUN FACT: The defending champion Chicago Blackhawks must be one of the only teams in league history to go from a title to one and done in the playoffs.

Guys I can't tell if Stallion is a fairweather NHL fan can anyone help me figure out if the answer is in this post
playoff tickets for $70 wtf
Rafalski...
I'm not sure if overrated is fair when you consider his age; he was fantastic for the Devils and most of his first two years in Detroit but not everyone ages like Lidstrom... I wouldn't be too surprised if the Detroit brass encourages this retirement since I'd agree he's definitely not worth his cap hit anymore. Good player and a smart guy though, would be kinda sad to see him go.
That said, Kronwall is playing #1 minutes for the Wings more often than not nowdays and it'd be nice not to lose both Lidstrom and Rafalski as we transition. Ericsson was kinda competent this year but it's also a contract year for him so probably he won't do that again for another couple of years, it'll be up to people like Kindl and Smith to carry this blueline into the future(both of whom I think will be solid NHLers, at least) should Detroit not be able to pull some sort of trade off this offseason because the free agent crop is going to be awful.
If Lidstrom were to retire here and leave Detroit without both him and Rafalski this could be an awfully bad year for Detroit even with the extra 12.2m to spend. The real killer for Detroit is another year of Hudler at 2.875... you could take off that 2 and it still might be a bad deal. Really interesting cap situation over the next two years with Lidstrom and Rafalski coming off the books though, take off Rafalski(6.0), Modano(1.75), Draper (1.583) and Osgood (1.416) this year and probably Lidstrom (6.2), Hudler (2.875), Bertuzzi (1.937), and Holmstrom(1.875) and it's kind of strange to think of what this team could look like in 2013-14... that's 23.636m off the books and probably cap increases will bring that up to at least 25m in space with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Filppula, Cleary, Kronwall, and Stuart still signed... Howard, Helm, Abdelkader, Miller, Eaves will probably need minor raises to stay on the roster but it's kind of interesting. the first four forwards are all definite Top 6 guys and the other 5 if resigned only leaves them really needing 2 top 6 forwards, 2 top 4 D, and a couple energy skaters and a filler defenseman if they can turn Kronwall/Stuart/some combination of young guys and free agent signings into a respectable blueline.
as much as i'll miss Raf, this might actually be a blessing in disguise. If the Cap goes up to 62.2, the Wings have 20+ million in cap space. They WILL be huge spenders in free agency. I came up with this gem on capgeek that will make Canucks fans cry alot.
