The Everything NHL Thread

Kesler tries to embellish a stick to the face and knocks Quick over, Burrows scores and the goal counts. Man the Canucks are good.

i was going to say "there's no denying the moon landing!!!" but that would have had the opposite impression of implying "Eraddddddd, you're an idiot," which is what i wanted

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KIIIIIIIINGS

I think it really helped that we had a strong first quarter, including those two 5-on-3 power plays. Vancouver could've had the upper hand the entire night otherwise.

Referees have been so shitty this season. Slightly impressed Vancouver didn't win because of how shitty a job they tend to do.

Felt really good for Richards in this one. Win or lose the series, I think it's a big deal moving forward for his place on that team for him to be a bigger factor in the playoffs than he was during the regular season and he sure got off on the right foot here. Richards is a little dirtier than most of the players I tend to like but I appreciate forwards who play well in both ends with enough skill to be point-per-game-type guys and he fits the mold. I think he was definitely the skater who had the biggest impact in the game(though I'd have given Luongo first star), happy for him, especially given the way the Flyers treated him and Carter after they signed long term deals expecting the same loyalty from the franchise that they were showing by locking themselves up at pretty reasonable cap hits. Would love to see LA win a cup before Philly, even though it won't be this year for either team, I think.

Man that was a bad game. So many pointless penalties killed the Canucks' momentum and that Bitz hit was incredibly stupid. Hopefully he gets suspended. On the bright side, Luongo was spectacular and definitely shut the haters up with that performance. He looks determined to change his reputation as a choker (which is undeserved imo). I don't think the Kings looked all that good, they just looked better than they are because of the lack of discipline by Vancouver. If Luongo can keep up his level of game and the team takes less meaningless penalties I think the Canucks can definitely take this series pretty comfortably.

Shea Weber might be suspended!!

wait, just fined

Stop embellishing, there hasn't been any fighting. Aside from some good hitting, Marchand and Beagle had a quick disagreement, that's it.

Bad officiating going against a D.C. team? I'm shocked. Bad officiating going in favor of a Boston team? Now I've seen everything.

Nah, it's not that bad. Just a lot of things that should/could be called against Boston that haven't. They're letting Washington get off a bit too so it's not so egregious. Pretty mad about the call against Holtby when he's been being interfered with all night.

Capitals look great defensively and Holtby has been for the most part solid. Definitely a tough match up for the Bruins.

Caps offense came ALIVE in the 3rd.

EDIT: HOLY SHIT CALL SOMETHING! Three man gangbang on Semin and NOTHING!

EDIT: Meh. Well played game by Holtby. If the rest of the team hadn't waited until the third period to show up we could have won. Would have helped if we could have held Boston all game and not been penalized for it. Or if our 7 foot tall goon could swing his stick around like the sword Excalibur. Seriously though, I think Boston spent more time holding our sticks than we did.

Vancouver-Pittsburgh was the consensus Cup final and they both could be out round 1.

Also Giroux is pretty good player.

I hope the rumors of the Coyotes having a buyer are true, I mean seriously a playoff caliber team that can't get a serious buyer to keep them here...granted, the pissy politics of the state and city aren't making it any easier, but still >.>

Seriously, how do shit teams like the NO Hornets in basketball sell for $388mil, but they can't find someone to pony up $300mil tops to grab a playoff contender in the NHL? Hell the lame Dodgers sold for a pretty overpriced $2bil...

The rumor is that the buyer is offering to buy the team at a 40m loss for the NHL, when the NHL promised the other owners they wouldn't lose money on the team, when there are groups outside of Phoenix who have offered up to a 60m gain.

Pretty obvious what's going to happen here.
