Sums up how I felt about Game 2...
If only we could have ditched Diaw or something for Marion...Barbosa isn't performing well either in the playoffs for some reason. And missing Grant Hill as well.
Barbosa just can't get his game going against the Spurs defense and he is an incredibly streaky player so I doubt he really can pile up the points against a defense like the one the Spurs have at this point in his career.
I think the Suns should've just opted to pay the luxury tax all along. They had a really close shot to the title last season and I really think the suspensions handed out to Diaw and Amare cost them last year.
Also some interesting bit on the Suns and luxury tax...
If they've decided to go Mark Cuban mode and just dole out money on players year after year...
1. The Suns would've kept their No. 7 pick in 2004 instead of trading it to Chicago. And they would've drafted either Andre Iguodala or Luol Deng.
2. They would've used their 21st pick in 2006 on Rajon Rondo rather than selling it for cash and a 2007 late first rounder.
3. Kurt Thomas would not have been traded.
4. No need for the Marcus Banks signing since they would have Rondo in his rookie contract therefore no Shaq trade. They wouldn't even need Shaq as they have Kurt Thomas.
Not including the Joe Johnson deal as the Suns actually wanted him back but Joe bolted for the Hawks as they offered more.
Imagine the Suns lineup if they did decide to pay the luxury tax all along. Nash, Barbosa, Iguodala, Hill, Bell, Rondo, Stoudemire, Marion, Diaw, Thomas.
wishful thinking...
