Jeff Van Gundy is like the only choice %___%

I like how everyone now condemns the Jason Kidd, but when it happened, I was one of the few people vehemently condemning it. I said that Harris was a better defender and EVERYONE including several in this thread bashed me (either here or in #smogon, probably here) ;D

I don't think I was posting here around that time but I never really liked the Kidd trade from the start. And I would have agreed with you, I actually made posts on this on other basketball forums where some people actually did agree with me.

Giving up Harris and Diop hurt the Mavs. Harris gave them a point guard with the size to guard big point guards like Baron Davis and Deron Williams. and the speed to stick with Parker, Paul, and Nash. Diop was a pretty good defensive big man and he gets his fair share of blocked shots too. He's a career 2.9 blocks per 36 minutes, and he had an average of 3.5 blocks per 36 minutes, league leader Marcus Camby had a 3.6, back in 2005-06.

Kidd is no longer the defender he used to be. He's much slower now and with that shaky jumpshot, the defense can sag off of him too and close his passing lanes. He's a future HOFer, no doubt, but I think his value is a bit blown out of proportion at this stage of his career.

Ding ding ding ding....I agree 100%.

I also agree the Mavericks trading for Kidd was a bad move, he was sort of off to begin with (and old), and that probably did doom the Mavericks, though I don't think they would have gotten past the Hornets anyways, who are also on a roll. I also don't know why they fired Avery, I mean he's pretty solid overall, even if the team can't deliver playoff wins in the last 2 years.

I'm sorry about that. Hope is what makes the games interesting though. That and you're probably a real fan. No shame in that. :)

C'mon ATL, smash Boston good! Even if you guys can't win the series I want to see the look of dispair on the Celtic faces just like in game 4. That'd really make my day.

Oh and go wiz!

Yeah it was really a toss-up between the two, in my opinion. Statistically, I think Durant was better, but Horford did prove pivotal in getting his team into the playoffs...even if it was in the east.

From what I've been reading Durant has been really gracious about winning the award, though. That's good. He also mentioned that he thought Horford was going to get it and that he'd rather be in the playoffs than winning the award.

I'm glad I got to see him play against the Lakers in the Key Arena before they got moved out. Business trips ftw.

Urgh when will you people get most of the voters now a days don't give a damn about rookie of the year with playoffs results.

Lebron averaged 20.9, 5.5, 5.9 his rookie year.
Carmelo averaged 21.0, 6.1, 2.8 his rookie year.

Carmelo stats are way closer to Lebron than Horford was to KD, AND Carmelo also made the playoffs. If you can that close in statistic, yet achieve better success and don't win it, yeah right.

Plus, KD was the focal point of every single defense they played against. Who else are they going to guard? Luke Ridnour? Hell no. If KD had an allstar in Joe Johnson next to him and Josh Smith alongside, I bet he'd win 37 games in the east too.

Anyway, yeah. I like the Zards a lot more than the Cavs, and before anyone goes "but Arenas gone no Zero no hope", I have to say that this season, Caron Butler completely, totally, in every way outclassed Gilbert Arenas.

Butler is probably a top 5 MVP candidate if he doesn't get hurt. Kobe, Paul, KG, Bron then him (maybe Howard over him). He was averaging something like 22/7/5 with 2 steals and great defense. Imo he's a Paul Pierce type of wing player, except where Pierce is a good defender Butler is a borderline elite defender (borderline because even though he works hard, he doesn't have amazing length or lateral quickness like say, a Tayshaun Prince)

I'm starting to change my mind about Gilbert (in terms of him needing to go) but we need a different coach, and unfortunately, Eddie is showing his annoying tendency to suddenly figure out how to coach when the pressure is on (if you aren't aware, i want him fired and never having another NBA HC job ever again). Not to mention that Eddie Jordan doesn't have the balls to impose a standard of professionalism on the locker room, especially in regards to guys like Stevenson (he works hard, he's a great defender, but if you look at his contract provisions, it's clear the team is worried about his off-court stuff). Also, the whole fouling thing starts with him.

I think with a coach that will hold him and the rest of the team accountable, Gilbert will become a much better player in terms of his fit into a team-oriented system.

Basically, he needs a coach that can get him to grow up a little bit.

so true.. I have the same hope for the Rockets managing to win this at the Jazz and then maybe taking it at home. That would be epic.

And T-Mac would finally break his curse. I think in terms of emotional value, Houston winning would be ideal. It's too bad because I really dig Deron William's game, but I'd love to see T-Mac get out of the first round at least once. He's too good a player to be stuck in the first round for so long.

Well, it's been fun for the Rockets I suppose, but in the end, despite ignoring this fact the whole time, the injuries piled up. Yao went out, we adjusted. T-Mac not healthy? We're used to it. Shane is questionable every game, we'll get through it. Rafer out first 2 games and Rockets out of sync for them, we'll just have to try harder. But by the time game 6 hit around, Rafer going down for the second time in midst of our comeback, that was too much..

And Okur was simply just outheighting everyone. At least this series showed that Boozer is a little pussy who couldn't do shit.

That'll be neat if the Hawks beat Boston...talk about an upset, losing to a team that's just 37-45 in the regular season if it happens.

If the Celtics end up winning against the Hawks, I can still see them beating the Cavaliers, if just maybe. On the other hand, should the Hawks make it through the Celtics, I don't really give them much of a chance against the Cavaliers.

fuck fuck why does Houston always getting injured when things are looking up? Ugh. I'm getting sick of saying "where there is next year.." because of these damn injuries.

good luck to the Jazz, I guess. Should be interesting watching the rest of the playoffs and I'm going for the upset on Sunday if the Hawks can get an away game.

Hehe, go Hawks!

I hope they pull off the upset. So that we'll see another 1st round upset of a 60 win team at the hands of a young athletic team.

Hawks won. And I don't know what you're talking about. The cavs suck balls. Both the hawks and the celtics could beat them, no prob. Jesus. the Cavs. Seriously.
