Such a shame that Mismagius does not have the Ghost/Fairy typing in the real game. I mean, it makes sense and all (trickery, etc)

Back to the topic...

Mismagius is given near perfect dual STAB coverage which makes it a prime candidate for a sweeper. The fact that it gets nasty plot and a beautiful special movepool means that it is quite flexible. It can even run a trickscarf/specs set successfully.
105 Special attack, while isn't the greatest, is still good. The perfect coverage and Nasty Plot really help in patching the stat up, anyway.

Levitate + Ghost/Fairy typing give it immunities to ground, normal, fighting, and dragon, which will present itself lots of setup opportunities.

That being said, Mismagius does have its fair share of problems. It would have fierce competition from Thundurus, who is also a Nasty Plot sweeper, and Gengar, another specially oriented ghost-type attacker. While its typing is its greatest asset, it is also its greatest downfall, making it weak to both Shadow Sneak and Bullet Punch. Combine that with its pitiful 60/60 defenses, and it will be severely hurt by even neutral attacks. Its frailty means that it cannot act as a spinblocker. 105 speed, while still great, is not so good anymore, especially with all the mega pokemon running around. The fact that it gets no priority (except sucker punch, but really?) makes it unable to contest with speed ties (such as Mega Pinsir, which can 2HKO with quick attack).

Though its frailty still a letdown, it won't stop Mismagius from becoming a very powerful pokemon.

Thank you all for the great discussion, we are finished with Mismagius. Here is the next slate:
  • Levitate Metagross (Super Mario Bro)
  • Psychic / Fairy Uxie (alexwolf)
  • Harvest Florges (JayHankEdLyon)
  • Roost Empoleon (Seiterman)

You have 24 hours to vote. Only vote for one theorymon, and the theorymon with the most votes wins. Don't forget to bold your votes, otherwise they won't count. In the case of a tie, we will vote again for the two theorymon that tied, with another day time limit. Start voting!

Here is the competitive merit behind each theorymon:

Levitate Metagross: Metagross can now counter Mega Pinsir, Sand Rush Excadrill (thx for the correction bwebber), Landorus, Gliscor, Diggersby, Landorus-T (without Knock Off), and Mamoswine, all significant threats in OU, while also being immune to Spikes.

Roost Empoleon: With Roost, Empoleon can finally stick around long enough to check the stuff it wants to, as well as win the war of attrition against opposing Defog and Stealth Rock setters with its own Stealth Rock and Defog. Notable threats that Empoelon checks or counters are: Latios, Latias, Manaphy, Clefable, Azumarill, Greninja, Talonflame, Genesect, Starmie, Tornadus-T.

Harvest Florges: This one speaks for itself, but here are some of the possibilities: Rest + Lum for instant max health recovery and status immunity, leaving it with three free slots, unlike Sylveon which has two. SubSitrus with Moonblast, Toxic, and Wish. SubCMSitrus with Moonblast + Hidden Power Ground and a physically defensive spread.

Psychic / Fairy Uxie: Uxie can put its new immunities / resistances / neutralities to good use with its great bulk and amazing support movepool. It can switch into Dragon-, Fighting- and Ground-types like it's nothing, and support its team with Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, U-turn, Heal Bell, Memento, and dual screens.

Levitate doesn't change anything for Metagross in regards to its matchup with Excadrill, since Mold Breaker bypasses that.

Anyway my vote goes to Roost Empoleon

Levitate Metagross: You have made Bronzong a very sad Pokemon.

Roost Empoleon: As a flightless bird who unlike Dodrio actually can't learn Fly, Roost on it basically breaks the flavor rule.

Harvest Florges: Honestly, Florges would be better off with a Grass typing so it can abuse its own Flower Veil. If you want a good reason to do this over Harvest, it now absolutely counters Rotom-W due to an immunity to WoW and a resistance to both of Rotom's STABs coupled with the Sp. Def to wall it for the next year.

Psychic/Fairy Uxie: Not only does Psychic/Fairy Cresselia make more sense, it can do almost everything that Uxie can and better (significantly more HP, and it only lacks SR and Heal Bell. The only important mon between the two's speeds is Excadrill, who 2HKOs Uxie but not Cress).

That being said, I'm voting for Levitate Metagross because it is the least terrible of the four. It actually has some merit in OU, and I suppose nobody was planning on using Bronzong anyway.

There are plenty of Pokemon that learn Roost but can't learn Fly, such as Venomoth, Beedrill, and Dunsparce.

Also, Uxie has a lot of support options that Cresselia doesn't, namely Steath Rock, Memento, U-turn, and Heal Bell, all of which give it a different supporting role.

Hopping on the bandwagon with Roost Empoleon. I've always loved this Pokémon and it looks like the most fun of the four.

Would have voted for Empoleon if not for the fact that it is already facing 4mss as it is, and Roost will bring about an even greater 4mss for it.
Because adding a Fairy typing literally makes everything better, there is nothing much to discuss about Uxie as well.
Hence I'm casting my vote for Florges because Harvest + Sitrus makes it a fantastic WishPasser because it is harder to wear down, and gives fewer free turns compared to other WishPassers.

Let's see Harvest Florges. With Harvest, Florges becomes a much more reliable wall, and I'd like to see what it can do.

Psychic / Fairy Uxie

A Physically defensive mon of this typing would be beautiful
