The Pokemon Gold and Silver Remake Theory

How do people dig these things up? Whatever.

The only real "hard evidence" I think there is is the reference to the red Gyarados in the beginning of DP. This could either be just to show you when the game is taking place, in relation to the other games, or it could be a blatant "this is what's coming out next". Or Nintendo could just be screwing with us. :\

Is a second wave of games possible within the DS' lifespan? I don't know, but it could be done...

2 waves of games were with the GBA, no? I'm sure Nintendo could easily do it before the next handheld.

That was what I was thinking. There is a bit of a difference, though; the GBA was released on June 11th, /01, and R/S were released on March 7th, 2003 (North America). The DS was released on November 1st, /04, and D/P were released on April 21st (21st? I know it was April...) /07. So, the R/S were released about 20 months after the GBA came out, but D/P were released about 30 months after the DS came out. That's quite a difference, but I still think that Nintendo/Game Freak could do it. The DS is still doing well. If they don't, I'm expecting a new generation of Pokemon as a launch title for whatever next handheld is in the works.

2 waves seems totally possible.

The DS doesn't seem like it'll be replaced anytime soon.

You're pointing out simularities, which doesn't mean there's gonna be a remake. But those references do.

I think gamefreak is already working on a remake.. just a matter of time before we get the info about it..

I think its cool how we can see whitney/pryce/jasmine when were in a contest.

Also, why wasn't this in your video, pokeGS(or whatever your name is)

I think that Johto may make an appearence in Platinum.
This would explain the name because Platinum comes from the word platina which means "little silver" in spanish.

the johto data really is the strongest argument in the video. The rest were... lacking. Besides the functions why are those towns/routes similiar to eachother... because of country-side appearance? yeah...no I don't buy it. Besides every game has a sort of mystic town. Ecruteak, lavender, celestic, and that odd gravesite place in R/S/E.

Although I am hoping for a remake, I think the johto data is the concrete evidence... then again it could be just a safegaurd for nintendo just in case they do make a remake.

This might not be anything, but in the beginning of DP, the male character is asking Prof. Rowan how it feels to be back in Shinoh. Maybe Rowan was in Jhoto and in the remake we get to see him?

Also, Platinum is a precious metal, not a gem, and doesn't fit well with Diamond and Pearl. It does fit with Gold and Silver, however.
Apparently there was no hinting at Johto in the last magazine article. Either it's not in there, or they're keeping it a big secret.

I really doubt Johto will be included in Platinum. Too much lost hype for mot mentioning it early.

"Oh, by the way, Johto is in the game too lol. Sorry for not telling you"

Do you think that if Johto were to be included, that they would mention such trivial thing like Volkner not being the 8th gym leader? To me, it seems it would be first on their hype lists. Perhaps solely behind Giratine, if anything. There will probably be new areas, yes. But Johto? I doubt it.

The reason they went with Platinum is probably because it sounds better then Opal. Lol, Pokemon Opal. Which do you think cookie cutter standard 8 year old Jacob is going to want? Opal or Platinum? Besides, it doesn't have to fit. Diamonds are a type of stone, and pearls are produced via mollusk. Why not throw a metal in there?

I would love to see g/s remakes, but I still like d/p so I am impartial. I do thik there will be a remake though. I wonder when it come out...

When I saw Jasmine I was like "Wow. HUGE reference to G/S/C!"

I really felt that was teasing us... I really don't know whether they'll make remakes or not.

I noticed this wasn't on the list, sorry if someone else mentioned it already:

The Pokeballs used in the Pal Park are colored gold and silver. Reference no?

But I don't know if they'll make a remake. But if they know how many people will be willing to buy it, of course they'll want to make one.

Most likely in the future, we'll all either be really surprised, or really disappointed.

It probably depends on how FR/LG sold. If those remakes didn't do well, they probably wouldn't do it again. I don't know how popular it was though.

I really have no idea if they will make a remake. If they do, great, but it will probably be in quite a few years. Also, if I were Nintendo I would make a game similar to how Pokemon XD was, because that was a big proffit for them, and Nintendo cares about making the most money they can while maintaning the huge fan base that they have. If they don't feel that the remakes will generate much of a profit, than they won't make them.

While I, unlike many others, enjoyed Colo and XD, I don't think they sold too well. Did they?

The biggest profit mainstream pokemon game for Nintendo are probably:

1. New region
2. G/S/C Remake
3. D/P Remake
4. Wii RPG

Personally, I think it was a really big mistake to remake D/P before G/S/C. I can imagine many people not paying the $40 for the "upgrade". Same region, few different things. Fun!

EDIT: Actually, I played Colosseum yesterday. Need something to do while on the treadmill, and the TV was right there. Went for a jog and caught a half decent Suicune.

Hey, do you realize that if they remake this game, it's possible we'll have Extremespeed Dragonite again? (it was an extra in Crystal)

woah woah woah, the first also goes along with crystal not fitting with Gold and Silver.

Everytime this comes up I don't get it. To me, references back about a different region isn't a hint about a remake, I thought they were just trying to make it seem like a global thing or something.

Keep in mind, Nintendo tends to release remakes prior to selling the third game of a trio. Think, Fire Red and Leaf Green came out before Emerald, but then again that was only once.

I loved Curse, and Steelix would absolutely destroy things. Bronzong doesn't really need it, does he? Already a top OU poke, he doesn't need to sweep.

As much as I think this could happen, we have to remember that FireRed and Leafgreen were created in conjunction with with XD to make all of the G/S/C pokemon available to future generations. So, in that sense, there is a good chance that a G/S/C remake would not come, however, Nintendo still does like to get its money out of these types of things.

Honestly, think about it. The, "DSGS didn't come out before Platinum so it's not coming out because FRLG came out before Emerald" thing doesn't prove anything. Nintendo doesn't "Usually" release the remakes before the third game; they've done it once.

All the hints in D/P give them the opportunity to make a G/S remake, but doesn't mean they will.

I give it less than a 50/50 shot at them making a remake.
