^wasting thread space, are we, Vratix?

Anyways, congrats to zdrup15 for finally finishing, good to hear Gasosa didn't drag you down too much. :)

Between your's and another one posted a while ago, i'm starting to think that going through the games is made much easier with a Quagsire. Hmm. Maybe that thing isn't worthless.

Between your's and another one posted a while ago, i'm starting to think that going through the games is made much easier with a Quagsire. Hmm. Maybe that thing isn't worthless.

Quagsire almost soloed the first 3 gyms and soloed Clair's Kingdra. And Gasosa was very good after whitney and before E4. Its only problem was its low speed that required a scarf to revenge kill and I needed that scarf to Bolinha the qwilfish too.
Oh and I was in college till a week ago (that explains the "finally").

And i thought High School was bad...

Anyways, back on topic, I'm assuming you only had one Scarf? I'm glad to see that the incorrect mindset of 'Gastly is so freaking fast!!! OMG!!!" that's infamous in LC has shown itself to be wrong yet again, though; Gastly really ain't that fast.

Also, i didn't even know you could get your hands on a Scarf in game. Me an my laziness for playing the 3rd game in each Gen.

Hey, I'll take a challenge in Platinum. I can trade, but I'd prefer not to as I'd need to borrow a friends DS to do it. Don't want something too tough since I want to get through it and use my ID/SID combo for some wild shiny abuses. Also, I really want to have to grind alot before most gyms. Other than that, everything is fair game. Oh, and one slot is saved for HM slave, and one flier required (not needed until I can use fly, so any flier I can get before I get the badge for it is cool).

COKTAL, take a Noctowl for your flier. It must be caught as a Hoothoot in Eterna Forest. As soon as it tries to learn its next move after you catch it, it must forget Hypnosis. Also, Fly is the only Flying-type move it can have once it learns Fly.

@Chateau: I don't want something that's so tough I would have to spend hours grinding to continue (like pokemon X can't evolve unless it solos X, where my poke would be at a big disadvantage). I don't mind a little bit of leveling here and there, but not have to constantly have super tough challenges to prepare for at each gym.

@COKTAL, use a Ralts. It must evolve to Kirlia at level 20, and Gardevoir at level 30. You must teach it Hypnosis and Dream Eater at level 60 and 65, respectively. It's nature must be Trace.

Do you mean it's ability? PS: Going for a male for that one lol. So far I have:

-Noctowl: Only flying type attack is fly. Delete hypnosis as soon as possible.
-Ralts: Kirlia at level 20, Gardevoir at 30. Must learn hypnosis and dream eater at 60/65.

For my HG challenge

HG
-Onix called SolidRock. Make sure it has no rock type moves.
-Marill. Don't give it a nickname. It can't evolve until after you beat Team Rocket in MahoganyTown.
-Mantine named Mantro (yes you need the male symbol). after it learns wingattack, it must always have a flying and a water move on it. both moves must be able to cause direct damage.
-HG bring a Chikorita named "BL Fighter" it must be a Dual Screen-ing. Once it evolves into Meganium its only attacking move must be Solar Beam.
-Caterpie into a Butterfree. Name the bug you pick Picard
-Slugma Egg from Primo. It must sucessfully solo one of Morty's 'mon to evolve. If you don't, and you solo one other gym leader fully, it can then evolve.

I am not waiting for this swarm for Marill. So, Senfroz, since you gave it to me, please give me a replacement. I've been waiting in Ecruteak for a week now for that swarm and it hasn't come. I'd say enough is enough now XD

@COKTAL
Bring a Croagunk named TeaseTail. It may only know attacking moves if it gets stab from them. It must evolve as a result of the fight with Volkner but it does not have to solo him.

-Edit-
@Dexington: You know, arbitrarily wandering around would have given you a Marril by this point.

Oh, ok. I was confused because you said you did want to grind before gyms. Anyway, take a Sneasel named Sniffles. Once you catch it, it may ONLY level up inside the Snowpoint Gym, and then it must solo as many of Candice's Pokemon as possible. If it solo's less than 4, it can't learn any more level up moves. If it solo's only two, it must solo one of Volkner's pokemon to evolve. If it solo's only one, it can never evolve. No retrying.

Trainer: COKTAL
Challenge: Platinum, Scramble
Reason for Post: Addition to team

Mr. COKTAL,

You will be adding a Shellos taken from the east sea. It will be named Shaqueefah, as that is a funny name. The restrictions placed on the Shellos are as follows:
-It will evolve into Gastrodon after soloing one Pokemon from both Crasher Wake and Byron.
-It will know the moves Surf, Mud Bomb, Rain Dance, and one non-STAB move of your choice.
-It must solo one Pokemon from each Elite Four member.

Good Day,

Detroitlolcat.

So here's what I've got so far:
-Noctowl: Only flying type attack is fly. Delete hypnosis as soon as possible.
-Ralts: Kirlia at level 20, Gardevoir at 30. Must learn hypnosis and dream eater at 60/65.
-Croagunk "TeaseTail": STAB attack only. Can only evolve if participating in the Volkner (do you mean can evolve anytime after, or after that particular battle?).
-Sneasel "Sniffles": Can only level up in Snowpoint gym (I'm assuming before i beat the gym, correct?). Solo less than 4: No level up moves. If 2: Must solo 1 of Volkner to evolve. Only 1: Never evolve.
-Shellos "Shaqueefah": Evolve only by soloing one of Crasher Wake & Byron's pokemon. Surf, Mud Bomb, Rain Dance, non-stab filler. Solo 1 E4 pokemon.

So one space left. I'd prefer either one of the starters, or something I can get before Hoothoot.

@COKTAL
-Edit-
@Dexington: You know, arbitrarily wandering around would have given you a Marril by this point.

I did that for 2 hours and didn't get one, then i figured I'd wait for the swarm. And I still wander 10 minutes each day just in case the swarm actually is there, or I hit that <1% chance.

Part 1: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2864110#post2864110

More updates:

I beat Misty after grinding 1 level and my rival on the S.S. Anne without too much trouble. Currently saved outside of the Vermillion Gym contemplating who to give which HMs/TMs to.

Spr_3f_007.png
Squirtle (Nicknamed Potter)
Level 23, Quiet nature
Tackle/Bite/Bubble/Water Gun

Checking happiness after I beat the gym leader. God I hate pushing B to cancel evolution.

Spr_3f_056.png
Mankey (Nicknamed ROFLCHOPPR (full name wouldn't fit))
Level 22, Hasty nature
Fury Swipes/Rock Tomb/Focus Energy/Karate Chop

Gym Leader's Pokemon Critted:
  • Brock's Geodude with Low Kick
  • Brock's Onix with Scratch
  • Misty's Staryu with Fury Swipes
  • Misty's Starmie with Fury Swipes
Fury Swipes helps more than Karate Chop for criticals because of the multiple attacks. I should've kept Low Kick instead of Focus Energy, but I'm gonna replace Focus Energy with something anyway.

Spr_3f_015.png
Beedrill (Nicknamed 9.9)
Level 22, Jolly Nature
Poison Sting/Twineedle/Focus Energy/Fury Attack

Ironically String Shot saved me vs Misty. Beedrill survived 2 Water Pulses and got off 2 String Shots in order to slow it down, which let Mankey attack away with it with Fury Swipes. Contemplating giving it Brick Break.

Spr_3f_020.png
Rattata (Nicknamed Ratz)
Level 22, Jolly Nature
Tackle/Focus Energy/Quick Attack/Hyper Fang

Gonna have to give it Cut over Tackle, maybe Dig just because, Shadow Ball, and maybe Strength over Hyper Fang.

Spr_3f_064.png
Kadabra (Nicknamed Mrs. Mime)
Level 22, Lax Nature
Teleport/Confusion/Disable/Psybeam

Lol standard moves. 4th Abra I encountered (first one ran away, second one I caught and was male but my iPod died shortly afterwards, third one ran away.) MAYBE giving it flash so Rock Tunnel won't be a huge pain.

I did that for 2 hours and didn't get one, then i figured I'd wait for the swarm. And I still wander 10 minutes each day just in case the swarm actually is there, or I hit that <1% chance.
You could get a level 15 pokemon, put it in the front and use a repel. That would prevent Machops and Geodudes from appearing, increasing the chance of a Marill.
@COKTAL, use a piplup, can only evolve at level 20 and 45
Cool, since I've never used a Piplup through a game before. I'll start my challenge once I finish getting all the legends off my current file.

Good idea, I'll try that for a bit.

EDIT: Thank you COKTAL. After almost half an hour and 12 Super Repels with a Stantler at the front of my party, I finally have my Marill.
EDIT2: And thank god, it has Huge Power.

Okay cool. I'm in the last legend battle right now (stupid Arcues won't stay in the ball >.>). I probably won't post a big story line like some people do, but I'll probably update pokemon/levels every 2-3 gyms and before the E4.

Little update on my Leaf Green Challenge:
I haven't played in over a week because I've been busy but I remember what's going on and felt like updating:

Macho Man (Nidorina) level 35
My real Starter. She modestly owns things with Water Pulse and Bite. Can't wait to get to the Sevii Islands so I can evolve her.

Oops (Golbat) level 33
As a Zubat, he DESTROYED both the Fighting Dojo and Erica. Also, he really trusts me and there is something physiologically going on with him that he doesn't quite understand right now.

ChukNorris (Hitmonchan) level 32
Having to know the 3 elemental punches severely limits his ability to respond to many threats. However, his massive uppercut power nearly negates his lack of resourcefulness. Screw brains go Brawn

Paradox808 (Sandslash) level 31
Defense Curled his way into unconsciousness against Erica and Surge. Evolved in the Rocket Hideout, high hopes for some real action against Koga.

Treadshot (Dugtrio) level 34
Triple penetrated everything in the Vermillion Gym and later left Giovanni feeling violated. Feels Inadequate for not knowing Magnitude but Dig does the job. Has a little trouble weathering hits, when he actually takes them.

Fish Sauce (Weepinbell) level 34
Met the requirement for first evolution on the S.S.BILL'S NOT COOL ENOUGH FOR THIS ROCKIN' PARTY boat from a Shellder. Also, weathered a Fire attack from both a Vulpix and a Growlithe and then face rolled them. I could lie and say I'm waiting for her to learn razor leaf to evolve her, but really I just can't say Fish Sauce 10x "really fast." I'm working on it though.

The lack of Variety in my team is a bit of a hindrance on occasion but it does give me a better, almost Nuzlocke, connection to them. Paradox's faint requirement makes him feel like he is my (metaphorical) mentally challenged child but I almost love him more for that, frustrating as he can be sometimes.

Well I'm almost done with cleaning out my current platinum file so I'll be starting this scramble challenge later today/tonight. But this team looks like it will be a fun one to play with, so I'm looking foward to it :)
-Piplup: Evolve at level 20 and 45.
-Noctowl: Only flying type attack is fly. Delete hypnosis as soon as possible.
-Ralts: Kirlia at level 20, Gardevoir at 30. Must learn hypnosis and dream eater at 60/65. Trace ability needed.
