Challenge The Scramble Challenge - Mark 2

TheDarknessOfLoyalty
I looked through the available TMs when I was making the challenge and I thought it was very doable since you could actually evolve into Nidoking almost immediately upon obtaining your Nidoran M assuming you picked up the Moon Stone from the Ruins of Alph by using Flash. Once you get Nidoking you can immediately fill 3 out of 4 slots with the Elemental Punches since you can buy those from the Goldenrod Department store. However, I didn't realize that Blizzard and Thunder were so goddamn expensive to buy from the Game Corner, or that Thief and Hidden Power weren't available into much later in the game (since in later versions they were always available so damn early lol). How about if I just remove the evolution requirements? Then you can evolve it more or less immediately and move availability will be a non-factor. The idea really was that you'd actually never have to deal with limited attacking options since you could just evolve so quick (it's why I only had you get one move for each evolution), but it turns out getting those early special moves was a lot harder (well, really just grind-ier) than I anticipated.

Still waiting on my final Pokemon. I'd hope that you or Hydrattler might oblige :P. I'm thinking at this point it'd be nice to have something obtainable before the second gym so I'm not just soloing the first quarter of the game with an unrestricted Mareep (since Narcolepsy's restrictions don't really kick in until Castelia... unless I'm not supposed to be able to cure status until I get the Rest TM, which I doubt was what chaostothemax intended). Here's the link if you need it.

icy780 take a Weedle. Nickname it "Rare". It must always hold a rare item. Must solo Siebold's Starmie as a Butterfree. That's all!
PS. Nuggets, Fossils, and RareCandies are all rare, and others.
Weedle does not evolve into a Butterfree.

icy780 Take Ninja the Froakie. Ninja wants to not be seen by its foes. As such, it must learn Quick Attack, because it moves to quick to see, and Shadow Sneak, because it sneaks through the shadows, and never forget those two. It may not use sound-based moves because noise blows its stealth. It also may not learn Hyper Beam, because the light would blow its cover. It also must have Protean, because it can change its color that way.

To evolve into a Frogadier, it must learn a Dark-type move, so it can become black. It must always know a dark-type move. To evolve into a Greninja, it must learn Toxic, because Toxic is an ancient technique used by ninjas (or, at least, Koga says it is a 400-year old technique in pokemon Red and Blue, and he claims to be a ninja in pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver). It may never forget toxic either.

That's the thing. I'd have to do excessive money grinding... And honestly money si the only thing I have never done Grinding for in a pokemon game, it's too boring compared to level grinding. Anyways... I believe i have a fitting mon for you.

Take Vioral the Volcarona (Note: You can likely get her just after you get Copier, looking at mon locations)

Vioral is a shy Volcarona, evident by her hiding out in the Relic Castle, seemingly afraid of most mons in the same egg-group (Bug) for reasons she seems hesitant to say. To gain her trust you'll need to make her feel useful to you in and out of battle, as such give her fly and use it at least once when she comes out to battle. Due to her Isolation, however, she doesn't know much about type-matchups and will willingly use Fly against even Boldores and and other such resistive mons, in a desire to be useful to you.

However Vioral soon realizes that this desire came from her fear, and knows that fear is going to be detrimental to the team if it cripples her so she fianlly decides she wants to get rid of it, making a point of wanting to take down at least Clay's Excadrill or Skyla's Skarmory. (Your choice) While this partially solves her fear it makes her rather attached to you, and will refuse to leave your side from then on and, as such, will make a point of wanting to get back into the fray if switched out by a phasing move.

The lack of fear also brings out a desire she harboured since she hatched: She wants to dance, as such she wants to dance for the Elite 4, Quiver Dance at least once against each E4 member and she'll be satisfied that you know her well enough. However the moment she knows a Dance-based move she'll feel insulted at the prospect of forgetting the dance, outright refusing to let you overwrite it.

Big problem though: No matter what you try she refuses to go near water. She's willing, albeit reluctant, to fight water-types so long as there is no water around. No matter what, the moment she spies water she will hide in her ball and refuse to come out, no matter the source. The number of badges you have will determine her bravery in the event of this, should have conquered the 8th Gym this fear is greatly reduced by her respect of you, but it's still there. If you let her fight in the battle against the Water-Gym leader she'll panic and only use Fly, if she defeas a pokemon in this fashion it makes her realize that while she may fear water, it cannot reach her if she is able to fly.

So in Summary/Explanation:
  • Give her Fly, and keep it. Volcarona may not be physical orientated but it's a HM, and Vioral believes HMs to be what is useful.
  • Use Fly at least whenever she's in battle, no matter the foe.
  • Help her gain the courage to face her fears by letting her take down Clay's Excadrill and/or Skyla's Skarmory
  • She wants to dance and once she has a dancing move she doesn't wanna forget it! So make her Quiver Dance at the E4. She is, after all, wanting to impress the best!
  • She's hydrophobic. When you catch her she'll not fight near water, each badge after getting her increases that so 4th badge would be a few turns, 5th, a few fights etc. This is lifted about the 8th badge, but use your judgement on her temperament.
  • Beat a mon of the water gym with fly and that fear is gone.
Fitting enough? I do have two other possibilities if Vioral doesn't quite cut it for you.

icy780 take a Weedle. Nickname it "Rare". It must always hold a rare item. Must solo Siebold's Starmie as a Butterfree. That's all!
PS. Nuggets, Fossils, and RareCandies are all rare, and others.
Am I supposed to use Weedle or Caterpie? You said Weedle, but then it must solo as Butterfree.

As soon as I get a reply to that I'll be starting my challenge. If anyone wants me to give them a pokemon I will, just say what your challenge is.

Here's my team, I'm going start getting them together now:

Dumb the Chespin

Dumb does not understand type-matchups. As such, it may not switch out of anything due to a poor type-matchup. Dumb also doesn't understand the concept of some moves being better than others. As such, whenever you get a TM it can learn, or it learns a new level-up move, it must learn it and forget a different move. It also may not re-learn a move it already knew, and then forgot. When it uses an attack, you must randomly choose which move to use.

Suicide Cup the Abra.

In the Other Metagame called Suicide Cup, Abra's evolutionary line is one of only two Pokemon banned, the other being Shedinja. As such, Abra wants to get its revenge--on you, in this game. Before evolving, you have no restrictions. However, as Kadabra, it start to make your life very miserable. It may only use the moves Teleport (and only in Trainer battles), Taunt, Thunder Wave, Substitute (and must switch out immediately after using Substitute), and it may only know one attacking move, which must be 50 BP or lower. It must lose at least 50% of its health before it starts using that attacking move, furthermore. To evolve into Alakazam, solo a gym leader whose type is not weak to that one attacking move. Upon evolution into Alakazam, it may only use attacking moves 40 BP and lower (hint: I think Frustration is the only one Alakazam gets).

Squib the Fennekin

Being magic-less, Squib can't use any kind of special and most of status attacks (list of usable moves: Scratch, Tail Whip, Howl, Flame Charge, Toxic, Protect, Frustration, Double Team, Giga Impact, Facade, Rest, Power-up Punch, Cut). Being a child of hate, he will never love anyone, so you cannot use Return - as a matter of fact, he must always knows Frustration and as soon as you get to Laverre City you got to present him to the lady who checks its Friendship - his fate will be determined by what she says (ONLY the first time you talk to her):

"It's amazingly friendly toward you! It must be so happy spending every day with you!" OR "You must really like your <Pokémon> and always keep it by your side!" => He achieved a happiness that he never thought it existed - and he doesn't understand it, so he gets scary and run away from you... forever [You get to throw him away and your maximum party size will be 5 for the rest of the game]

"Well, I think you and <Pokémon> will be an even greater combo someday!"OR "It's a little bit friendly to you… Something like that. => The bonds you are creating make him even angrier; to show that the lady was wrong, he will not obey you for the rest of the time you are together [Choose randomly the moves he will use]

"Hmm…I think you have a lot of time ahead of you to get to know one another better." => He doesn't want to know you better - to show that, he will always shows its frustration so that you can understand how much he hates you and everyone else [Must always use Frustration as the first move of the battle]

"Don't tell me! Are you just letting it get knocked out in Pokémon battles?!" => He despises you. And that is perfect. No restrictions

Oh yes: more than you, he hates, of course, his kin. Because of that, make him solo Olympia AND Malva. :)

Derpgle the Smeargle

Take a Smeargle and name it Derpgle. DERPGLE is a derp that is too derpy to know when he probably shouldn't sketch a move. Because of this, he must always use Sketch before he uses any other move. Derpgle might be derpy, but he sure does like nature! Every time you enter a new Route he must lead your party until you encounter a wild Pokemon, which he then must solo. Because when you're as derpy as Derpgle is, loving something means accidentally killing it when trying to play with it. Derpgle loves to draw new things, so he must learn Sketch every chance he gets to, replacing his oldest move with it every time. Finally, Derpgle wants to help, but is too stupid to know when he's more of a bother than a help. Because of this, he has a tendency to randomly pop into battle whenever he feels you're in need of help. We're not sure what he perceives as "needing help" though; he just pops into battle about 1/4 of the time for no discernible reason. Once he's
in battle, he's too derpy to realized he's outmatched. Because of this, he cannot switch out until he wins or faints. For all his issues though, Derpgle is just too darn cute for you to leave fainted, so you must immediately stop what you're doing and revive him whenever you exit a battle with him fainted (if possible). Just remember, Derpgle loves you!

Ninja the Froakie

Rare the Weedle/Caterpie
It must always hold a rare item. Must solo Siebold's Starmie as a Butterfree. That's all!

TheDarknessOfLoyalty
Yeah I get that it'd be too grindy now. You won't have to do any grinding if you take my offer to strike the evolution requirements though. You can just use physical moves until you evolve Specialist (which you should be able to do right after you catch him). The Elemental Punch TMs are only 3000 poke each at the Goldenrod Department store so you should be able to put all of those on Specialist right away without any grinding.

As for Vioral, I really do like it but I fear that challenge might be too easy. Volcarona is a very powerful Pokemon and the restrictions you've put on it might not be enough to counteract that. I also really in general dislike restrictions that force me to use a certain move every time I enter battle, though that's not necessarily a deal killer. Also, I'm not entirely certain that you can obtain Volcarona before Clay or Skyla. What I do know is that it will be long after I get Copier; you have to access the section of the ruins Volcarona is in by going through the higher level section of the Relic passage, rather than going through the Desert Resort. There's a reason you encounter it at level 35. In any case, it might be better to go with one of your alternatives you mentioned.

If you could I'd like it to be a Pokemon I can get very early in the game so I don't end up just soloing the whole start of the game with Narcolepsy (who isn't even restricted until I get to Castelia!). Something from before the second gym. Due to the ridiculous amount of variety in BW2, you should have plenty to choose from at least!

I had the Volcarona in the Relic Castle prior to reaching Nimbasa City. Jus' Saying. But hey I'll give you a different one. It's rare I get the chance to give Luc to someone 'cause he's so... odd.

Got it Birdcrest. I'm not sure how long it'll take to get exactly everything I need, but my next post will probably be when I beat the first gym.

I've noticed a couple problems with what people gave me. First off I don't believe Froakie can have have shadow sneak. Only Greninja gets it, but that's at level 23. Also with the Abra I have, if I want to evolve it to Alakazam its attacking move must be lower than 40 BP. You mentioned Frustration, but if that's the case then I could just abuse the crap out of it and make Frustration decent.

Also what's the rule with EV training on this?

Because of the release of Pokebank i can finally restart my White, so lets go with that

-Can trade but rather not use it outside of evolving
-Fairly challenging but nothing too frustrating
-No specific nature restrictions (things like "must be -Atk" or such is ok)
-No more than 2 of any type
-A surf/fly user would be nice but isnt required
-In the event i dont have a starter as one of my 6, i'll roll a dice to determine my starter
-If anyone feels like trolling me stunfisk would probably be a good choice

thats basically it i think

- Foongus named Gus!
- Cannot particiapte in Double, Triple or Rotation Battles.
- Must have 2 ways of inflicting status on opponents at all times ASAP (other than Effect Spore)
- Cannot use draining moves or use any other method of healing while in battle
- Effect spore must afflict 10 trainer owned Pokemon before GUS! can evolve, including one Gym leader Pokemon

-Beat 5 Trainersfor Kiggy to recognize your superiority
-defeat 20 mons using passive damage from either Burn or Fire Spin to Evolve into Lampent
-Will'o Wisp and Fire Spin cannot be forgotten once learned
-Solo Iris without passing level 50 To evolve into Chandelure
-Solo Grimsley to prove the power of his ghostly flames!

Hmmm... I shall give you Holden, the Archen. After being revived, Holden realizes that the world has changed so much since his time on Earth. Every pokemon looks so phony and different, especially those newfangled Pokemon that look like they are man-made objects. Therefore, Holden must bet any pokemon whose design is based off of a man-made object (a full list: yamask line (coffin), trubbish line (garbage), vanillite (ice cream), foongus line (poke ball), klink line (gears), litwick line (candles), golett line (wind up dolls)) Holden has such a fear of this new and crazy world, but he must vome to terms with the fact that people (er, pokemon) need to change in order to grow. He will realize this after he evolves after beating Clay's gym. Once he evolves, the beat all man-made pokemon ban is lifted, but now Holden must only be able to beat one pokemon per battle (unless he is the last alive poke) because he still needs some time for soul searching. Oh, and his moveset must only consist of rock or flying moves, because pretending you know how to masterfully use moves of other types is phony.

I've noticed a couple problems with what people gave me. First off I don't believe Froakie can have have shadow sneak. Only Greninja gets it, but that's at level 23. Also with the Abra I have, if I want to evolve it to Alakazam its attacking move must be lower than 40 BP. In that case, have Froakie learn Smoke Screen, and then replace it with Shadow Sneak ASAP.

Also, it assumed that a challenge has no restrictions in a certain area unless it directly says so.

Accepted Cinderkitteh, but would you mind making a summary of it for me to c/p into my post.
Holden the Archen:
-May only use stab moves
-Must beat any pokemon with a design based off of a man-made object
-May evolve after Clay's gym is beaten, after evolution the beating man-made object restriction is lifter
-After evolution, may only kill one pokemon per battle.

Gym update #3

Beat the third gym with Real! Now he can Mega-Evolve! Had quite a bit of trouble with finding Sweeper the Crabink, whom I then promptly named "Swee" by accident. It also doesn't know any special moves yet. Anyway, now I have all my pokemon, which means full-force scramble! I can now go on to the fourth gym and challenge Ramos... Better get to training Pampered, he hates that gym and will face it with all his might!

powergo1 take Annoyed the Basculin. This Basculin hates that Pikachu, Charizard, etc. are so overrated, so it must always know Frustration and learn it ASAP. Also, because Elesa is a fashion model and fashion models are so popular, and because Elesa uses Electric-type Pokemon, Annoyed must solo Elesa. (If Basculin can not be caught in the wild before Elesa, use the Basculin-Minncino trade's Basculin, which does not have to have the nickname).

powergo1, take a Blitzle and name it CHAAAAAAAAAAARGE (with as many As as you can fit). This Blitzle fancies itself a member of the calvalry of old, and as such loves the glory of the charge. As such, it must have at least 3 moves with the word "charge" in their name ASAP. (Charge, Flame Charge, Wild Charge, Discharge, Charge Beam. He must also solo any trainer owned Pawniard and Bisharp you come across, because everyone knows that horse is superior to foot! Finally, have it lead the charge against every elite 4 member, ensuring that it KOs the lead Pokemon of each one.

Good luck and have fun!

Still waiting on my final Pokemon for my Scramble! Rules here! TheDarknessOfLoyalty , you can still give me that other option you promised but at this point if someone else gets to it first I'm going to take it.

powergo1 Take Reshiram the Tepig. This Tepig thinks it is as strong as the Legendary Dragons. As such, it may never switch out from a foe (it may switch out between battles, though).

Also, it wants power. You must teach it Head Smash, Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, and Blast Burn ASAP. Before it can learn those moves, it must always know moves with as high of power as possible.

In battles, it refuses to use a move of a type the foe is weak to, unless all of its other moves are resisted (with the 4 highest-power moves, Shedinja and Froslass only). It also refuses to use any moves that boost its stats or lower its foes' stats, because that is unneeded to win (and yes, moves with a chance to do that like Rock Smash can't be used as well).

It thinks that all Unova starters are part Dragon-type. As such, it may not use Head Smash against Emboar, and it may use Blast Burn against Serperior.

When you get to N's Castle, it must solo Reshiram. No one else on your team may be sent out against it. Once Reshiram has been beaten, you may catch it with someone else on your team to continue the game.

Jimera0, I give you BurnOut the Tepig. This Tepig is (sadly) different to other Tepig as it runs out of energy rather quickly, meaning that it is exhausted, and cannot battle. Therefore, Tepig can only be in battle for a)Until it KOs it's foe, or b) 3 turns. If it cannot do either of these, it must switch out asap, and cannot compete in the next battle, including wild battles. It is seeking to overcome it's problem, and believes it can do it by doing this list of challenges: 1) It must solo Cheren's Lillipup, within the 3 turn limit, then it can evolve. 2) You can equip it with a Charcoal that can be found in Castelia city, which give it more burny energy, so it can stay in for 2 battles against different Pokemon, or for 6 turns. However, for it to be equipped, it must solo Elesa's Zebstrika. Then, to evolve, it can either: a) Defeat Clay's Excadrill, or b) Lead and defeat the opponents Pokemon at the 1st PWT tournament (the one with Hugh, Cheren and Colress). When it evolves, it feels something inside of it, a burning sensation. It realises, with joy it has overcome its problem! The previous turn limit is lifted. It is so happy about this, you teach it Fire Pledge, and it uses it whenever it comes in. Just so you don't stop using this, have it Solo Iris' Hydreigion. That's all.

(N.B if BurnOut is the last Pokemon able to be used, the turn limit is lifted, but you must heal at least one of the other Pokemon ASAP)

powergo1 Take Scout the Patrat. Being a scout, he must always be first to go out, to perform his scoutly duties (except for the E4, where he will allow CHAAAAARGE to lead). Once he learns Detect, he may never forget it, and must always lead with it, because he needs time to scout your opponent. As a Watchog, he must solo Lenora's Watchog, because Scout is the better scout.

Summary:
-Patrat named Scout
-Must always lead, except in the E4
-Must never forget Detect
-Must always lead with Detect
-Solo Lenora's Watchog

Good luck and have fun with your scramble!

Alright, seems pretty good but I got a few questions.

First of all, BurnOut will be my only Pokemon for the first couple routes. What do I do if I run into the turn limit before I can pick up Narcolepsy? Secondly, I'm a bit confused about when the "cannot compete in next battle" condition applies. Does it only apply if I can't switch out for some reason and outstay the 3 turn limit and switch out, or does it apply every time I use up 3 turns/KO something (or even every time BurnOut battles)? Or is it something else I'm not completely understanding?

Also, I'm a bit confused about how the challenge progresses and want to make sure I got this right. So I can evolve for the first time after soloing Cheren's Lillipup, and then again after either defeating Clay's Excadrill or the PWT right? And I can attempt these over and over (via resetting) until I succeed? Also I'm not sure how the 3 turn limit applies to the solos (especially since you specified it must be within the limit for Lillipup but did not mention it for the other solos). The PWT in particular confuses me. Am I supposed to solo the whole PWT or just lead with BurnOut and win? How do Burnout's restrictions apply during the PWT (especially since BurnOut must lead, since if I literally would be unable to prevent it from getting into battle in that case).

Basically I just need a whole lot of clarifications so I actually understand how you want the challenge to work.
