France sells more tickets than Ireland, I wouldn't be surprised if the French team was told the ref would look the other way on some calls.

france go through, thanks to henry handballing it into the net, an utter discrase, yet another cheating incident,m which means referees again.
I hope FIFA got what they wanted, afterall it was them who seeded the play-offs so teams like france could go through, such a shame that entrance to the world cup has been gained by cheating. i still remember ITALY V AUSTRALIA where italy dived for a penalty in the dying minutes to progress, this sort of thing has to stop.
I personally cried when Ireland lost lmao. That handball was ridiculous, and they screwed Ireland there. Ireland didnt lose any game in qualifying, and deserved better than that bs =/

The worst part is that these decisions aren't even reversable. Ireland has to wait for 4 more years till they get a chance again, whereas France undeservedly go through.

Blatter, Platini, FIFA, I hope you're happy. Motherfuckers.

This is rediculous, I'm so pissed off at the result. For Ireland this was rare chance of making the world cup whilst for France they should have deservedly missed out. It'll be interesting to see what pots there will be.

And Erazor why was this result Platini, Blatter and FIFA's fault. Why do so many people hate Platini and Blatter.

Because they refuse to allow Video Replays, even after there have been so many dubious incidents over the last few ears. And FIFA are extremely biased towards the big countries, going as far as seeding play-offs to ensure that big teams don't play each other. And because they're not going to reverse the decision.

Are you joking? The Irish allocation last night was only 8000 in an 80000 seater stadium. More than 20000 Irish fans travelled to Paris last night, full well knowing that most of them wouldn't get in. But they were there supporting them. That's the sort of team that deserves to go to the World Cup.

The game last night should be replayed, with Henry being banned from the World Cup if the French make it through. Oh he should also face a public execution.

Yes Dan Dan, husk was being sarcastic :)

The game shouldn't be replayed. Instead they could just play a penalty shoot-out. And Henry needs a ban. For, say, 10 games or so.

It just leads back to needing video technology for the referees to call upon in the game. Where are Platini and Blatter today then? They're quick to come out and have a go at anything remotely controversial that happens with England.

Oh and while I'm ranting, Ireland having to play an extra half an hour away from home gives France a huge advantage. Should have just gone straight to penalties. Well, the whole seeding for the playoffs was ridiculous as well.

So its already assumed Shay Given would have saved a few penalties , i can't really feel bad when Ireland had numerous golden chances to finish the game. Someone should be giving Robbie Keane shit for wasting a perfect through ball with an amateur second touch.

The way Frace won is shameful, and the defenitive proof that video replay is needed. One of such petitions gained widespread support in portugal, being promoted on the biggest cable news channels and supported by football and life celebrities, apart from thousands of anonymous people (I myself am the #37 signant).
For god's sake, even Henry admitted his actions. If anyone here watched the game, you'll have noticed that instead of celebrating, he sat besides Dunne...

On a lighter note, congratulations to Portugal =D, Greece, Slovenia with a spectacular comeback from a 2-1 in Russia, Uruguay, and Algeria in a heated african playoff with Egyps, after being toe to toe in the groups stage, right down to the goal average.

o not portugal...
still think FIFA are a discrase...
i agree France and ireland would have probably drew, therfore a penalty shootout would have happned, just do that, IFA want match replayed

The point isn't whether Ireland would have won or lost in a penalty shootout. The point is how they were unfairly eliminated. If Ireland lost on penalties, they wouldn't mind.

Football matches should be refereed by men, not by machines.

No matter what the faults of the former...
SO your argument is it doesn't matter if the decision is right or wrong, as long as it's a man and not a machine behind it?
Plus, technologies such as video replay only previde enhanced vision, they do not decide by themselves...

The rule that a refs decision cant be over turned no matter what is basically Fifa's way of getting in the teams they want

that rule is in every FA, UEFA etc, its a dumb rule and they need to do the right thing once in while, after the fletcher card insident after the semi-final of the champions league last year, and the pathetic seeding of playoffs (good teams, if they were good wouldn't be there in the first place )I have no trust in UEFA, wil ldo the right thing
if its wrong put it right, that goes for the FA instead of punishing those who speak out.

The English Premiership has amazed us this weekend after the International Friendlies

Liverpool - Manchester City: 2 - 2, Liverpool again lose points at Anfield and losing both Babel and Agger thanks to the rough playing style of the Citizens

Sunderland - Arsenal: 1 - 0, Arsenal beated by Sunderland without injured Van Persie, who was injured during the International Friendly against Italy

Not happy with Arsenal result. Sunderland away was never going to be easy, but we still should have won, especially when we're already trailing Chelsea. This has badly hurt our title challenge.

We're not implying that referees should be replaced with video replays all the time. Hell, mistakes are part of the game sometimes. But when a BLATANT show of handballing goes through, and eliminates a team, who won't be able to compete for four years, is just not fair to Ireland. We're not asking for video replay on whether is a ball is out of bounds or not every time. We're asking for justice for Ireland, who got screwed over because the refs can't see. We're asking for video replays so that cheating, accidental or not, does not cost a team to play in the World Cup, an achivement that should not be screwed out of a team, who has played hard and fair, until now.

very happy with arsenal result, wasn't surprised at liverpool and city drawing either, liverpool don't win, and city only seem to draw put that together...
