Who do you think Arsenal will take a punt on in January? If anyone.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could well be a steal if AC Milan really want to 'cut their losses' and sell him quick. I've always been a fan of his and wanted to see him in a Man Utd shirt. I think he's had limited opportunities at Real Madrid and AC Milan, and Arsenal could be just the right club for him. I honestly don't see 8 goals in 20 games at Real Madrid and 2 goals in 9 games at AC Milan as a terrible return for the money paid for him. I'd also like to see how many minutes on the pitch he got, as I highly doubt it was ever 29 full games to see those 10 goals. Take into account he was gelling into a new team each time, it's hardly bad. If he's given time he could well be the next 'van Nistelrooy' as his goal scoring tally is exceptional - Played: 273 ; Scored: 181

If AC Milan are going to get rid of him as soon as January, then he needs to be snapped up as it could well be a deal of less than £10million. However, I'm not sure if he's eligible in the Champions League this term - he might have played one game in the Group stages for AC Milan, so that could sway Wenger's decision against it if he wants to go far in that competition.

Ajax also wants Huntelaar (He has been Ajax player before), but he doesn't want to leave AC Milan, trying to play more for the WK. However, I don't think he can play much there.

Ajax has better forwards. Pantelic and Suárez. However, a third good one (better than Sulejmani, bought for €16.000.000 from SC Heerenveen, never does something good and complains he never plays). Ajax wants to buy Ryan Babel from Liverpool.

Barcelona offered Ajax €40.000.000. However, Suárez doesn't want to leave Ajax. He is topscorer of the Eredivisie, 18 goals in 17 matches. In the cup tourney, 6 goals in 3 matches. In the Europe League, in 8 matches he scored 6 times. Then I am not talking about his assists. Ajax bought him from FC Groningen for €7.500.000. Ajax president Rik van den Boog said Suárez won't be sold for less than €60.000.000. Suárez doesn't want a transfer, he wants to finish the season 2009/2010 with Ajax. He is under contract until the summer of 2012. Suárez can be a right striker, like he is now, but he is the best as a center striker. Since Ajax bought Pantelic, he is a right striker. Pantelic can be left or right too, but the coach (Martin Jol, ex-Roda JC, RKC Waalwijk, Tottenham Hotspurs, Hamburger SV and now he is Ajax-coach) thinks Pantelic doesn't do too well as a left or right striker. Suárez does well both right and center. What do you think about this player: How much money is he worth? I'd say €60.000.000 isn't even overrated, he is worth €100.000.000 in my opinion. Sounds stupid, but good, he is.

Club-games-wins-draws-losses-scored goals-goals against-city of club
1. FC Twente 17 15 2 0 47 38-15 Enschede
2. PSV 17 14 3 0 45 43-13 Eindhoven
3. Ajax 17 12 2 3 38 53-15 Amsterdam
4. Feyenoord 18 11 4 3 37 29-15 Rotterdam
5. Heracles Almelo 18 10 2 6 32 26-24 Almelo
6. FC Utrecht 17 8 6 3 30 23-16 Utrecht

Top 6 Eredivisie. Of 18 clubs. PSV and FC Twente are lucky: Many 1-0 wins, undeserved, bad playing, and scored in the last 5 minutes. Ajax lost three times: From PSV and Twente (Against PSV, 4-3 with Ajax-hating referee, the winning PSV goal was hands, but the referee thought it was good, Ajax had the right for two penaltys, not given, while the referee saw it, last season he didn't do games with Ajax because he robbed Ajax of wins many times before, against FC Twente same case, same referee, 1-0, third loss against FC Utrecht was the only deserved loss, 2-0, all three away games). Draws against low clubs, Sparta Rotterdam 0-0 in Amsterdam, Ajax was the better club all the time, Roda JC 2-2 draw in Kerkrade, referee case. Normally with 38 points Ajax can still become the champion. If PSV and FC Twente got the points they deserved instead of the "stolen wins", Ajax would be #1.

The reason some clubs have 17 and some 18 games is that some games from last week, Sunday have been cancelled. Those will be played in January.

What will be the Dutch champion. I think FC Twente will be champion in May.

We all know how Eredivisie shows signs of promising strikers, only for them to make the big move to one of Europe's top clubs and flop miserably. £100,000,000? You have got to be having a laugh. In today's market, transfers have been blown out of proportion and Ajax demanding no less than £60m further proves how ridiculous it has become.

£20-25m, in my opinion.

Suárez has a base place in the Uruguayan WK team, he is going to the WK.

No pounds, €, Euro.

It is true most Eredivisieplayers don't do well in other countries.

Suárez is different, think about Ronaldo and PSV. Many clubs willing to buy him offer him a base place he deserves. I have some Youtube links of Ajax games to let you see it. The speaker is Dutch, but you can watch.

Suárez scored more Europe competitions (Europe League and Champions League) goals than Marco van Basten. He is Dutch and had a base place in AC Milan. He has been coach of Ajax until he chose to quit because Ajax ended 3th in the competition 2008/2009 (first and second means Champions league). Martin Jol is a better coach.

I do raise my hand in apology for my confusion involving Euros/Pounds. Still, the price is very demanding for a player in a similar position to that of past failures emerging from the Dutch League.

As for Huntelaah, if any one manager has the patience to re-discover a player's confidence, et cetera, it is Sir Alex. I can't say that he's what we need right now (and I have better options in mind), but his goal-scoring record would fill the void left by Ronaldo.

I am absolutely sure that Sir Alex Ferguson is the man who can make Huntelaar do what he's good at: scoring goals. Like Ronaldo, Ferguson can build a team around Huntelaar, providing him the spaces and changes that Huntelaar needs to score goals. I think this is even easier then building a team around Ronaldo. Huntelaar is a kind of striker that just needs 1 or 2 chances to make a goal. His shots are always under the crossbar and between the 2 goalposts. If creative players like Scholes, Berbatov, Rooney and Giggs can play around him, then I'm sure that Huntelaar can score atleast 25 goals in the English Premier League.

Suárez isn't in a similar position as other failing Eredivisie footballers. The clubs wanting him offer him a base place. Have you watched the video's?

Arsenal need a DMF to cover Song, a striker and a natural winger.

I don't think Arsenal will end up buying anyone in January, at least not a striker but i do think they will end up with Chamakh of Bordeaux, i am not too confident he would be that successful though he is amazing in the air and quite strong, but the defences in the premier league is better and stronger then Ligue 1 and until this season Chamakh does not have that good of a scoring record.

Other options:

Klaas Jan Huntelaar- I actually think he can be a success in the premier league, but I doubt they can get him for less then 15m and Wenger will not be willing to pay that.

Suarez- This kid is very good and much better then any of the other players that came in from the dutch league with a great scoring record(Kuyt,Alves), but he doesn't want to leave and he will be too expensive in the summer. He also isn't the type of striker they need he isn't a target man that you put up front on his own.

Gignac- This one might actually happen, he is not cup tied and i think Arsenal could get him for around 10m, he is strong and a decent player but i don't think he is gonna suddenly turn Arsenal into Premier League winners.

Van Nisterooy- Ok this will not happen but Wenger should go for him, yes he is 33 and injury prone, but healthy is still probably the best goal poacher in Europe. The guy just scores so many goals and he can do it on every level, for me a fully fit Van Nisterooy is better then every striker Madrid have except Higuain who is just edging World class and will be regarded as one of the top 5 strikers in the world within 2 years.

To be honest if i was Wenger i would be more concerned about Barcelona getting Fabregas in the summer, he can only hold them off so long and if Fabregas keeps up his form that won't be too long away.

Well, at least someone recognizes Suárez' talent. Even for a base place and €50.000.000 he won't leave, that has been offered.

Man Utd 5-0 wigan
should have been more, dissapointed it was 5-0, united hit the woodwork twice and spent most of the game camped in wigans half
Portsmouth 1-4 Arsenal
expected really

The team has been built around Wayne Rooney after the deperture of Ronaldo. Managed by Sir Alex and alongside Rooney, Huntelaah, I am sure, would succeed at Manchester United. I just don't feel we need another striker, and there are options out there I would consider superior alternatives to Huntelaah if we were to invest in one.

Excellent result tonight, by the way.

Chelsea offered some weeks ago €22.000.000 for Suárez and a base place. Then there was a rumor in the Netherlands he signed a contract, which was a lie. Luickily. Suárez doesn't want to leave and accepting €22.000.000 for a player worth €60.000.000 would be (...) insane. Suárez doesn't want to leave.

In a game against Willem II (Tilburg), he scored in the 90th minute (4-0) and Suarez pointed to the Ajax-logo on his shirt to show he wants to stay with Ajax.

Leeds beat Man U 1-0 thanks to a Jermaine Beckford goal. Big surprise and pretty hilarious, Man U most certainly should have managed to score in the second half but Leeds did defend well and should have scored more than one themselves.

it was unacceptable to lose at home to a league 1 side with several first team members (including rooney) in the starting eleven. im glad the new year slump occured in the cup and not the league, though.

Happy for the Arsenal - West Ham match to finally be over, was worried for rather a lot of that match, 2-1 is nice though. Getting an away tie against Stoke in r4 will be hard though.

Lol, Man United, although this result might actually help them in the Premier League and Champions League as the players will be more fresh and are less likely to be injured. This makes Norwich seem a better team as they are second to Leeds in League One :).

Without Ronaldo Man Utd are a completely different team, irrespective of what SAF claims. They lack the flair and cutting edge Ronaldo provides. Even when he's off form, his mere prescence allows players such as Rooney find more space and freedom in which to work. Since his departure to Madrid, United have looked lacklustre in both the EPL and CL.

Either way, Manchester United played very bad. Ok, we did miss some key players, while some were given rest by Sir Alex Ferguson, but Leeds United at home should always be a win for Manchester United. Luckily this was a Cup match, not a League match. I hope that we continue to win in the League and show Chelsea who's boss

its not ronadlo missing thats the problem.. its the fact we had all defenders and midfielders missing... if only fergie started with valencia

I think the true test for Man Utd will be the CL clash with Milan. With Ronaldinho playing behind Pato and possibly Dzeko, combined with a depleted/off form United defence I wouldnt be surprised if they had strips ripeed off them. Vidic is a shadow of himself last season and Ferdinand is in a worrysome form slump. Giggs is too old (as we saw in Rome last year) where Iniesta and Xavi played him off the park. While Pirlo, Seedorf and Beckham are by no means young themselves, they are certainly a level above Giggs.
