vague/strange games that you like

Wario's Woods is the only one that comes to mind. It's a puzzle game where you have to blow up these creatures by matching colors with these bombs that slowly fall.

Super Mario Land/2 Six Golden Coins on the Game Boy were my first Mario games :)

Mischief Makers is also fantastic.

ohohoh i almost forgot everyones favourite strange game, Katamari Damacy

Oh I forgot about Metal Walker, a GBC rpgish thing by Capcom where you fight your way through an island of evil robots using a robot of your own, and it can transform into about 10 different forms.

Also the combat system is based 90% on bouncing off of walls to ricochet into your enemies and propelling them into other enemies, traps etc.

Im not sure if its obscure enough but Arkanoid comes to mind.

Always loved that game. Not so much the many variants that were made after though.

Sheep, Dog n' Wolf was an AMAZING puzzle game for the Playstation, featuring coyote and some other characters from looney tunes.

Sheep i think it was called on the PS1, you had to use your sheepdog to herd sheep to the pen, and it had paint vats that you had to herd your sheep into to get them the right colours to jump over gates and stuff. Brilliant fun.

electroplankton is the first one that comes to mind
wasn't exactly a game, but either way: still strange and fun

Space Station Silicon Valley for N64

best game ever? oh, its fuckin up there

Yes Yes YeS YES YES YES YES YES YES!

Glover, Rocket Robot on Wheels, ummmm BattleTanx! (Looking it up to make sure I got the name right I find that it had a sequel.... how did I never get that!?)

You can tell I'm an N64 fan.

Edit: As for most frustratingly fun game, Chameleon Twist, considering I played it with no memory card and so had to restart every time.

Edit2: And as for somewhat recent games, how about Custom Robo Arena? Did no one buy that at all?

Bumping this for a new odd, game that I recently got on VC

Comix Zone

Knights in the Nightmare, good concept, fun strategy rpg play.

Megaman X command Mission is another game I think very few people have played, that game was almost impossible for me because I never wanted to grind.

OK, I have am currently playing through Professor Layton and the Curious village; and I can admit that it is one of the best games i have on my DS.

Any good ds fighting games that you would recommend Smogon?

I had Jade Cocoon too! It was kind of a Pokemon ripoff admitedly. But being able to merge the monsters to create totally new ones was cool. Imagine if Pokemon had that - those sprite fusions people do would actually start to become real. And if the baby got the movepool of both parents, and the best stats from both...imagine breeding shuckle and blissey to get the best wall ever. (Yeah, not in the same egg group...but you get the idea).

Indestructotank (flash game) is great.

3rd World Farmer is another flash game. It's IMPOSSIBLE, you try and get something good like a tractor then there's a war and it gets blown up. (Of course the game was written to make a point).

Liquid War is cool.

The PS1 game of the Italian Job is pretty good. It's based on the original film, and is along the same lines as Driver. Just be careful when you put the CD in, you don't want to blow the bloody door off!

Terracon is a great third person shooter on the PS1. The neat feature is that the ammo for your gun, 'genergy', is also used to turn wireframe 'meshes' into solid objects. Collecting genergy to make objects is thus a fairly large part of the game.

No discussion of odd games could be complete without mentioning Abe's Oddysee. Serious whacky setting there, and some interesting gameplay with making the NPCs follow you.

When you guys list a game, either explain what it is, why you like it, or both. A list thread does not promote any type of discussion whatsoever.

I loved Phoenix for the TI-83+. It filled my boring college classes with awesome. And of course, Gardening Mama and Picross for that 5 mins available to game now. :(

I wish I could find other games that you can play for short amounts of time, then just quit and it saves automatically (or very short save time)

Edit2: And as for somewhat recent games, how about Custom Robo Arena? Did no one buy that at all?

I played the original Custom Robo for the Gamecube, but I didn't know there were others.

Not sure what constitutes an odd game, the OP is very vague.

Scribblenauts: How is game where you can use basically everything not crazy and awesome?
Patapon: You play as the little unown-like creatures' god and command them with a drum.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness: Story just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Btw, the gameplay is almost exactly the same as the game Azure Dreams for the Gameboy Color.
Final Fantasy X: All the Final Fantasy games have a pretty weird story, but I think this is the weirdest out of the ones that I've played.
Lost Odessey: Again, pretty wierd story. Haven't finished it yet.

Older games:

Jazz Jackrabbit: A very old game for the PC were you play as a green rabbit with a gun. I think there's supposed to be a plot but the game never explains it. You beat a turtle at the end.
Gearheads: Another old game for the PC. You sent various wind up toys across the screen and had to get them to the other side, while your opponent would send them the opposite way. The various toys had different effects.
Lemmings: The traps in this game are quite gruesome.

I liked Professor Laton and the Curious Village and Monster Rancher 2 and 4 as well.

Okay, my favorite game- Gotcha force.

It seems child-ish, with toys fighting (but we play pokemon right!), but its a really fun game. There are only like 100 games of it though, so its pretty rare.

20 bucks no one here has heard of it.

You owe me $20 then. Should I PM you my PayPal info? =)

Snowboard Kids / Snowboard Kids 2 (N64) - Probably two of my favorite games all-time! There is just something about these two games (especially SBK2) that just keeps me hooked. These are racing games with items a la Mario Kart, but in order to get items you have to have some money when you reach an item box, which you get by performing tricks. They are simple games, but really fun! And the story sequences in SBK2 make me chuckle. Music is really good as well, fits the games perfectly. I prefer these x10986111547 times over Mario Kart 64 or Diddy Kong Racing, especially when playing with friends!

Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon (N64) - Probably one of the most hilarious games out there. This is an adventure game, think Mario 64 and Zeda, but much more humorous. There is good action all around, lots of exploring, and you can use 4 different NINJAS, plus you get to fight in a giant robot with ROLLER SKATES! Really, it doesn't get much better than that. Music is awesome, graphics too, and the dialogue, oh the dialogue, you have to play it yourself to understand =P

Iggy's Recking Balls (N64) - Yes, that is the title. Another racing game, but VERY different from anything you have probably ever seen. You basically control "heads" that bounce around an arena, and you have to cleverly use your grappling hook, boost and other skills to climb to the goal. Really, really fun game when playing with friends!

Feel the Magic / The Rub Rabits (DS) - Bahahahah, simply hilarious. Really fun mini games here. Really, play this if you haven't. You will not regret it.

Tiny Toons All-Stars (Sega Genesis)
- Don't look at me like that, I really liked (and still do!) this game! It's a collection of some sports where you get to use your favorite Tiny Toons! There is basketball, soccer, bowling and some other games. In basketball and soccer you pick your team from the pool of toons, and each has their own unique "power" you can activate during the game to help you score. It could be mostly nostalgia, but it's a fun game!

Riviera: The Promised Land (GBA/PSP) - Maybe not THAT unknown, but this RPG deserves more love. It has awesome graphics for a GBA game (there is also a PSP remake, but it's mostly a port of the GBA one), and incredible music. It's different from other RPGs in that you can only bring up to FOUR items (this includes weapons) into battle, and those four are all shared between all three party members! This adds a really different strategic element to the game, since some characters handle some weapons better than others. Of course, because of this, battles tend to be quick, which is great for a portable. The storyline is really good to, with plenty of plot twists to keep you interested.

Brave Fencer Musashi (PS1) - An action/rpg game, with incredible dialogue and voice acting. RPG elements elements are great, with tons of baddies to beat up with your two swords. Awesome level design as well. One of my favorite games! Again maybe not that unknown, but also deserves more love =)

The Disgaea series are also pretty strange, really fun games.

Bleach: Dark Souls
. Even if you don't watch Bleach, this is the best fighting game on the DS. Really. And it's a really good one too.
