So I was reading the Athens regional and I saw that there was a hotel discount. I checked back to see here if Philly had one but we don't. Just wondering if there will be?

Now tell me, how did I know? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I must be some sort of fortune teller :)

Edit:But all in all, Cybertron is right, those discounts are awful.

Heh, I'm not actually 100% sure if I'll be able to attend this. I'll most likely be involved in a performance at the D.C. Sakura Matsuri the day before. The earlier registration times make this even more of a pain in the ass, I'd have to do a late night drive to NJ/Philly to have a chance >_>;

I am not taking those "discounts", plus in what way are they discounts? I am pretty sure discounts are atleast 15% off while those prices are about 5%...

they are the group rate the pto was able to get because theyre near the event, even though they are pricey

there are probably some other hotels nearby that have a cheaper rate and are just a short ride away from the regionals

You have no excuse. Team Dan is in attendance. Ditch the Con.

If you don't mind somewhat skuzzy places, NJ has loads of motels on Route 73 (which leads straight to the Betsy Ross Bridge) that are 50 bucks or less (Bel-Air Motor Lodge, Track & Turf, etc.), though the bridge toll is 5 bucks when leaving NJ. Note, these are not high quality places (I've only used them for benders), but if you really need a cheap place to stay, they at least suffice. Bel-Air has the added bonus of being staggering distance from a shitty bar ^.^

I just can't wait for the Regionals! Just wondering, to make Top 4 you can only lose once and there are usually 6 rounds? Thanks for answering my questions! I really appreciate it.

The number of rounds depend on the # of players. To get in to the top4 you must finish atleast X-1 though there will be more X-1's, so then it comes down to tiebreakers. Basically don't lose till the last 2 rds, and you should be fine. Cybertron posted a thing on how tie-breakers worked earlier.(i think in this thread)

Or you could lose in the fourth round like me and get lucky.

The guy I lost to in round 4 happened to win the whole thing though, so it turned out alright I guess.

Drcossack is going to defend his turf in masters. I will try (and probably fail) in seniors.

Juniors is doomed.

haha. I feel so bad for Juniors. Babbytron'd.

btw, for everyone wondering: I will NOT be using Sun...or any fire moves/fire-types. I know you're all disappointed.

Hey drcossack I don't know if you realize this, but entei is Fire-type.

Seeing how this is the first year Nationals is open and considering the abysmal numbers we had at Regionals, I'd expect around 200-300 Juniors and Seniors and maybe 500+ Masters. TCG gets around those numbers for Juniors, and a lot more for Masters. I think that once you get to Nationals for VGC, the players are a lot more dedicated and hardcore. At Regionals the past few years, there were such high numbers because of the nice, flashy website that Pokemon designed, along with the fact a lot were there just to check it out and play for fun. A lot of these were people who didn't really know what they were doing, and went because it was close and IRL Pokemon events are always fun. Since pokemonvgc.com links to blocks of text on the Pokemon website now, it's not as impressive or cool as it used to be. (Personally, I really miss this and I wish Pokemon would bring back the website with all the winners/videos/teams).

TLDR I don't think we'll be getting very high attendance numbers at Nationals this year, especially how few people were aware of Fall Regionals. I'm personally hoping we'll break 200+ in each division, but seeing how there were like 9 Juniors at RI...

I'm well aware of this. I'm still not gonna use a Sun team though.

I took one look at it and bookmarked it twice.
well its offical, im going to nats and philly. Dang now thats nats needs no invite there's probably gonna be ten thousand people there.

Also I'm rooting for cossack to win. If he's almost or has never been to a VGC before how can you tell he won't win or that he'll lose?

Trust me, I am not worried about this at all. It's gonna be tough in Masters, and there's no question of that...but I'll worry about the competition when the time comes. Above everything else, I just plan on enjoying my visit to Philly.

I know this is a bit off topic and mean, but Cybertron, Talkinglion, are you actually playing? Didn't you both get second in your respective events?
