Sticky X/Y Sprite Project

Finished fixing this up. It turned out to be a lot easier than I expected. You're welcome, Galifia.

I've been thinking of making an animation tutorial at some time, it could turn out to be helpful.

Made a start on inkay. I'm thunking about what I should keep as a rare animation...

I think that you should make its downward animation (The one where its hands spread out) loop 2 more times then make the one where its body moves up and its hands press against its body as a rare animation.

Well that pandcham should get its shading fixed on his head. It doesnt really look right on both front and back sprites.

sunny: Yeah, okay, I'll give that a shot.

Anyways, I made a new pancham sprite. I accidentally made the dimensions too big (not the sprite) so you can just see with a link. I personally think it looks sorta fat...

Aside from the palette (would be looking to keep a similar palette to the Pangoro we're using, as there's almost no difference between the two palette-wise), I love that. It looks fine (if anything, the old sprite looked fat, especially in the face area)

EDIT: Edited the palette to match Pangoro...looks even better now imo:

Hey guys, I'm back. When I was playing in PS I realised my Chesnaught sprite had been replaced with another one, which is understandable, as my sprite was far from perfect.
Although I do not want to bash other people's work, I thought the new sprite had faulty linework coupled with erroneus proportions. So I applied the new sprite's palette to my old sprite (because I thought it looked a lot better than my old, dull looking one) and fixed some things up, while also adding an accurate shiny.

Posted the current sprite and the one you put up there just now.

I most certainly disagree with your thought. In terms of proportions there isn't a great deal of difference, aside from the size of the arms (namely because they are at different angles to your sprite). I'd say perhaps the left leg on the newer sprite needs to be slightly thicker, and maybe there needs to be a bit of work on the face in terms of the jawline, but that's it.

I have one rather glaring thing to say about your sprite, though - it has only one eye, when both should easily be visible from that angle.

my lonely chesnaught sprite is always available if you may need it. but edits are probably more efficient. I think I'll get back into spriting, but god I'm overwhelmed with work at the moment.

Here are the split up body parts of the sprites, separated into layers in.xcf (gimp) format ready for animation if chosen to be used~

That's bloody amazing! I love the way you shaded it and the palette you used! If anything, I would only make a few minor improvements, namely making the arms a slight bit thicker closer to the body, and moving the left spike a bit lower on the back sprite, since it doesn't seem to be at the same height from that perspective.
I think I'm ofter way too proud of my work but now I can't really express how much of an improvement this is over mine, definitely don't give up on spriting!

Okay, about your chesnaught (the one on the right), the face should be more prominent imo. The beard should perhaps be made bigger, and the left eye needs to be more prominent. You should change the color scheme of the green as well, to match the chesnaught on the left.

there's the official image. You can also take reference to the left chesnaught for the eye; the left one's left eye is proper, imo.

Well thanks! It looks good now! Now I need to do some qc to the pancham.

I was also thinking... should I make the pancham stand on 2 legs, or is the current pancham okay?

Try making it stand on both legs just because it would probably look more like a battle stance than him doing a pose like that but its still nicely done so far.

I did a QC of Mega Medicham seeing as it has been left out not getting a makeover for quite some time now. The original sprite looked unpolished with the dark, jagged outlines which is quite prominent in the four levitating bands/straps -also in the headgear-. As a result, these bands/straps looked unfitting with the body of the sprite. The sprite looked flat because of these and in combination with the off shading. In general, the changes made did not mesh up well with the DP sprite as well as it could have and looked a bit inorganic. And so, in hopes of remedying it, I made these.

The back sprite looks wonky I know. :c

However, do please give out your comments, criticisms, and suggestions!

On a side note, I am having trouble with the back sprite for Mega Gardevoir. So help is much appreciated! <(;u;<)

I'd say the current Pancham should be alright, if the animation has him stamping that foot down (I think the current sprite animation for Pangoro does something similar).

Hey guys, I fixed up my Chesnaught sprite and started working on an animation, here's what I have so far:

There's acouple things I still need to fix up and I still need to do some rare animation, but I'd apreciate any sort of critique on this rough draft!

I think the color is a bit off on the legs and armor, but good job otherwise.

...don't know what you've done with the colour scheme, because it now looks even further removed from the actual colour scheme of Chesnaught, and it is is still missing the left eye as we look at it. Please don't start animating until we are certain that it is signed off for that, otherwise you're just wasting your time - just because you think you're done doesn't necessarily mean that everyone else here will agree (yes, I'm in a crap mood and I'm getting cheesed off at people not taking feedback on board).

Anyway, let's see what I can do here...(edited colour scheme and added the eye in).

but Manibogi chestnaught is still not ready for animation just yet even after those edits D: It is nice but if there are more changes, you would have to do the animation again

I understand your concern with the palette, but don't act like yours is better, please. Chesnaught may not be peached-colored, but that puke green with highly contrasting shadows is hideous.
Both of your complaints can be fixed in a couple seconds, don't get so fired up like that dude.

I'm not acting like mine is better at all, far from it.
a) Take a look at Chesnaught's official art:
250px-652Chesnaught.png
I have taken all my colours for the palette for the sprite from that art.

b) I've said these exact same complaints before and you essentially ignored them. You might not be so bothered at being ignored like that, but I don't take kindly to that kind of thing - if you disagree with a complaint, say so rather than ignoring it, because that is very rude.
