Congrats, Meta!

I too would be racing towards the top 100 with my Chandelure (and updating my registration post often) if I only had the time to do this, but school's taking priority this week. ;)

btw Deoxys-D is aweshum :3

Would have loved being first, but i'll have to settle with second. I will say that the last battle I had before I reached the ranking of 94 was quite stressful because I knew I would start tilting from frustration if I lost. Here's the team I used:

Yeah, I somehow made it with on real way of handling Terrakion or max Speed Volcorona. And yes, 4/6 of the Pokemon on my team could be used as my Dark Horse Pokemon.

Alright, I've updated the Hall of Fame with our first two qualifiers. Congratulations, MetaGross66 and Berserker Lord! The two of you are free to pick another Dark Horse Pokemon and go for another victory, if you so choose. However, please keep your old Registration Form in tact (perhaps in hide tags) for reference purposes. Just keep registering new Pokemon alongside of it!

As a general inquiry to the public, what would you like to see in the Hall of Fame? I currently have links to their Hall of Fame Registration, images of the Dark Horse Pokemon, and their full teammate sets. I was also thinking that each entrant could provide a personalized quote for me to post alongside their achievement! Maybe say something about how your team functions or a few words of wisdom. I'm pretty versatile when it comes to this stuff. Have fun with it!

And as the OP rules state, Metagross, Mienshao, and Deoxys-D are NO LONGER AVAILABLE as registered Dark Horse Pokemon for this month. Sorry if you missed out; better experiment with else until next month! The competition is getting fierce.

It was pretty nasty, but I did it. Went on tilt twice; hate laddering. No johns though. I guess I'm third?

Very nice, guys. The Hall of Fame is looking great; another piece of information that deserves to be displayed is their ladder rank / score. Also, a log replay of their team in action would be awesome if the successful challengers could provide some :d

wow..this is a great thread. this reminds many people that there are other pokes aside from scrotom and ddnite.

agree on ^ to at least post a battle log from the hall of famer to teach noobs like me on how to use your darkhorse pokes..

still struggling with my milotic..i'll revise my team and ladder some when i come home.

really looking forward to January stats lol

Guess I'll try this...

And congratulations to NoJohns as well! I've updated the Hall of Fame with your work. Keep working at it! I've also added a quote, date of arrival, and peaked ladder points to show off their work. If the three of you were to upload a battle log, that would be something I'd throw up there too.

Since I do love me some friendly competition, I've added an extra facet to the Hall of Fame. Your ranking within the Hall of Fame is based off of your peaked ladder ranking points! So despite MetaGross66 making it in first, Berserker Lord actually holds the throne for having slightly higher points. And in the case of a tie breaker (equal ladder ranking points), the first user to enter the Hall of Fame will come first. However, any member of the Hall of Fame is more than welcome to keep laddering with their Dark Horse Pokemon to earn a higher seat in the Hall of Fame. So MetaGross66, Berserker Lord, and NoJohns, you three are free to continue laddering with your Dark Horse Pokemon AND fill out another Registration Form to start laddering with new Dark Horse Pokemon.

As for everyone else, keep up the hard work! We've still got plenty of time left.

One idea would be to allow the HoF-ers to submit a single replay of the team in action (maybe using pokemon.aesoft). They could choose a representative (and interesting) match in which the darkhorse pulled its weight. If they made a high ranking with that team there should be a few such matches. I think it would be neat to be able to see that in the first post but it would be optional.

By the way, shouldn't the dates in the HoF post should be 1/4/2012?

Very nice, guys. The Hall of Fame is looking great; another piece of information that deserves to be displayed is their ladder rank / score. Also, a log replay of their team in action would be awesome if the successful challengers could provide some :d
Uhh Berserker Lord stole my only log. I only save logs of battles that I lose and deem worthy (to learn off of them, etc).

Sorry about that dude. It was amongst the logs that I picked through that I thought were worth posting. I will post some of my logs where I lost though so I can critique them myself and others can too.

Well, I guess it's time to talk about how my team came to light (Maybe i'll make a RMT, so a teambuilding process can't hurt.)

Well, the team starter was not Metagross, but instead Sunny Day Heatran. I had thought about using Sunny Day Heatran when I wanted to use Heatran, but I was annoyed that I would be forced to use Life Orb+Hidden Power Grass just to hit Water-types. I had actually gone and done a whole bunch of calcs to see how Heatran would fare against Water-type attacks in the sun, and how much Solarbeam would deal back in return. The calcs seemed extremely promising, so Heatran got on the team right away.

Next, I considered what Heatran was cockblocked by, and the simple pattern was Special walls and Dragon-types, especially Dragonite. I figured I would deal with Dragons later on in team building and focused on the special walls. This allowed me to also use a Pokemon that I actually used before and loved to use: Choice Band Metagross. It had everything I could have wished for: priority, great bulk and typing, and insane power with Meteor Mash.

With my two-punch offensive core made, I realized it was destroyed by pretty much any strong Earthquake user, so I had a plethora of Pokes that could have worked. The fact that I was using Sunny Day really ruled out Rotom-W, and I also wanted this Earthquake immunity to have some good bulk so it could survive a few mispredicts and use its resistances, so Gengar was trashed. that left really three options; Dragonite, Salamence, and Hydreigon. Hydreigon was chosen because it had good bulk combined with great Special Attack and was not weak to Stealth Rock.

After my three-part core was finished, I was not sure as to where to proceed. I Had U-turn on Hydreigon, so I thought that adding another U-turn user could only help. I didn't want to use Scizor because i already had Bullet Punch on Metagross, and I already knew my team was Volcorona weak enough. Thus, Mienshao earned the fourth spot on my team. Hydreigon could easily mutilate Mienshao's counters, and Mienshao could run through Hydreigons.

The next thing I added was Breloom. There wasnt any real good reason I remember besides being able to royally fuck over Voltturn cores and to provide Sleep.

Lastly, I needed a Stealth Rock user in order to actually make this team threatening. At the same time, I realized how much Dragons could just tear my team a new one because of its general slowness. I managed to slove both problems with one Pokemon: Mamoswine. It could easily revenge kill Dragons with Ice Shard, and setup Stealth Rock as well. It also had plenty of offensive presence, which was never a downside.

After building the team, I took it for a test drive and almost immediately I found the one fatal flaw; It was just too damn slow. Fast sweepers who weren't weak to Ice Shard or Bullet Punch could just rip right through the team with no effort, and Fighting-types could just spam their STAB without any fear. Fustrated, I knew there wasn't one single solution to both problems so I focused on my Speed issue. I needed a Scarfer, but I couldn't find one that I thought would work. Eventually, I went with Haxorus, and it preformed marvelously. Haxorus took the place of Breloom because Breloom was the obvious weak link from my testing, and I could already handle Voltturn cores with relative ease.

As the observant may note, 4/6 of my team is made up of potential Drak Horse Pokemon, but I only chose Metagross because every single other people already knew were great, and Metagross was just shoved into obscurity.

It seems the middle of the day is the best time to do this. I went up a couple thousand places with just a few battles. I'm stopping for now since I'm in the top 1000.

Since Berserker Lord did not register Mamoswine in his registration form, you can still aim to reach the top 100 to be recognized in Hall of Fame!

My team is doing pretty well - Virizion provides me useful special defense to my offensive team, as well as a good check to Landorus and Tyranitar. Alakazam, in the other hand, serves as a reliable revenge killer, thanks to Magic Guard + Focus Sash. It's Speed and Psyshock is one of the major reason I added to my HO team, since it can check Gengar, Latios, and Starmie and can also finish off weakened Volcarona that tries to set up on my other mons.
