Also tecnically all of that was from the "technical limitation" that they only had space for 1 super button on the ds screen.

I also do think it's a safe assumption tbh, but we are basing it more on a technical limitation from 10 years ago and our idea of balance rather than facts.
 
Man I know it's out of nowhere but it's 9 in the morning and I'm still baffled as to how much they fumbled my man Malamar. No Power Trip, no Stored Power, lost Superpower, its big-brained noodle-armed Mega gets Close Combat and higher Attack than Sp. Attack... What do they even want us to do with it lmao. I really hope Champions/gen10 gives it some cool toys, otherwise it's almost as stupid as Mega Pyroar (but that one can still be saved by the ability).
 
That's more up to ZA having smaller movepools I think. Poor Aurorus got freaking gutted for example. Lost even freaking Ancient Power.

About Mega abilities, a funny ability for Mega Gatr could be Disguise. You get at least one free setup turn! Not as good as Mimikyu obviously, since it lacks any immunities.
 
I know it's usually futile to suggest this, but maybe we try to not clog up an orange islands subforum thread with posts full of theorymoning calcs about a move and/or mega that might get rebalanced when they get released in an actual competitive game. For all we know the current calcs will end up being as useful as all the theorymoning about Legend Plate Arceus.

Yeah, I know it's been brought up already but the analogy to Legend Plate Arceus could apply here to Mega Zygarde and Nihil Light too.

There's even a chance that Nihil Light might not even be in standard PvP or the classic battle system, much less the Mega Zygarde that exists in this game. The Legend Plate straight up isn't obtainable in SV despite technically being in the game data.

So all of this theorymonning might end up being for naught when the time comes for these new Megas to make it into classic battle system and official PvP, especially with Zygarde.

Make a Legend Memory for Silvally too, guy may shoot up in viability lol. And perhaps a Legend Drive for Genesect, so Techno Blast turns into the most favourable out of Fire, Ice, Electric or Water, and thus there is a reason to use it.

There is already a reason to use the Drives in Genesect, it maked it immune to Trick and is an item that can,t be Knocked... This would be relevant in OU, where half of the meta has Trick or Knock. In Ubers, where Genesect always resides, half of the meta (Arceus, Primals, Zacian, etc.) has an unknockable item, so poor Genesect can,t get a break.
 
I forgot that Absol was the first mega rogue you run into. I wonder if that's part of the reason it's getting another mega in DLC? I can see there being a mirror situation where you have to defeat Mega Absol Y towards the start of the DLC. Maybe you even use the other Mega Lucario?

I think Game Freak considers Absol to be an iconic mega, as much as Lucario or Charizard. It was one of the first revealed when the mechanic was announced (alongside Lucario, Blaziken, Ampharos, Mawile and Mewtwo) and it was one of the first to appear in the anime. Not to mention the fact that your rival uses it as their mega in X/Y. I'm not surprised at all that it, Lucario and Garchomp would get another mega

Speaking more selfishly, I never liked the original designs for Mega Absol, Mega Lucario or Mega Garchomp despite how much I like their base forms, so I'm glad they're getting a shot in a game that (overall) has much better designs for megas than X/Y did. If only they would have done the same for Heracross

malamar already gets stored power, and superpower isn't in za lol

I'm sure they'll cook something for malamar and that's why it's stats are so bad, they might do a blastoise/heracross and give it the moves it needs to function (power trip) in champions. If you really wanna cope, the reason it gets a big special attack boost is because they'll give it psycho boost lol

it's all fun and games until Megachomp Z turns out to be Volo's new ace (Togekiss isn't in the datamined dlc returning mons list but shhhh)
