Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I wasn't asking someone to find it, just pointing out that AR and possibly Pokesav will still need to be used for everyone to exploit this.

I heard in the Emerald RNG thread that you can find out a list of possible SIDs if you have your ID and a shiny that you caught. I was wondering if they only knew how to do that for Emerald, or for Plat also. That was the question above. I understand how the egg RNG changes, and that more research is needed elsewhere.

I'm not sure if it'll work like it does in Emerald because there is more than one seed. :(

And, I have an edit post on the first page now (Second Post) so my guide is now there! ;D

The shiny formula is the same between generations, so if you already have a shiny, you can calculate your SID just the same. Seeding is irrelevant to this.

You cannot turn the game off until you have locked the shiny egg into the daycare, otherwise you will generate a new seed when you restart.

When I insert the Date/Time of hitting Continue, the Nature and IVs of the pokemon and hit Find in the RNG Reporter, nothing is happening.

In fact even when I try random numbers I'm not getting anything out of it.

Does it just take a while to work or what?

Hi I have a couple of questions.

1. Can I turn off to check the IVs of my caught pokemon, or does this screw things up?

2. When it says on the first page that if they are as terrible as those listed reset and try again does that mean that you should turn on and off again?

then if the parents are from different countries, the following formula is iterated up to 4 times

for i = 1:4
PID = PID*0x6c078965+1
if (PID is shiny) >>>break the cycle!!!
end

(I used a pseudo-programming syntax for better explaining)
Does that mean that you'd be more likely to get a shiny when foreign parents are involved?

Because if it does, then does it do that in D/P as well? Since in that blog that said that "something special" would happen on a certain date (the "something special" being the diamond dust) they said something about different language parents giving higher chances of "alternate colour" Pokemon.

Sorry for this not really having anything to do with this discussion.

Hi I have a couple of questions.

1. Can I turn off to check the IVs of my caught pokemon, or does this screw things up? No, every time you turn on your DS you'll get another Seed, so you'll need to catch a high level Pokémon, like Pokémon at route 229 and then Rare candy and check IVs.

2. When it says on the first page that if they are as terrible as those listed reset and try again does that mean that you should turn on and off again? Well not sure if you need to turn off and then turn on, but that's what I do, so can easily check the Time.

Thanks Vliegtuig. Ok, so I just tried to hatch a shiny. It didnt work ._.

A few follow up questions about whether these things would affect the outcome:

1. I had to talk to the lady in the daycare twice
2. Had to take an everstone from on of the pokemon I was depositing.
3. Talked to the daycare man three times

And would these things affect the outcome?

1. Changing the poketch app to the egg checker and tapping it until an egg appears
2. Using a flame body pokemon

And could some please PM me the code for checking IVs? The one I use really screws up the pokemon in your party.

yeah...when using international parents you'll have an increased probability

Well for this part, you can deposit and withdraw as many Pokémons as you want. And everstone doesn't work, because you get a PID, and a PID includes: Gender, Nature, Ability.

And would these things affect the outcome?

1. Changing the poketch app to the egg checker and tapping it until an egg appears You can't do this, because if you cahnge your Poketech, then you'll change the seed.
2. Using a flame body pokemon As far as I know, this is possible!

And could some please PM me the code for checking IVs? The one I use really screws up the pokemon in your party. I have one, I'll send it to you.

@Jonny: Does it matter that the parents are the same languages, but the game is different? For example: English parents and a japanese ROM.

I really don't know...I think it works only with parents from different countries no matter which game you breed on but I can't be 100% sure. Give it a try and we'll know :)

OK, I'm currently breeding on Emerald some parents, will try it later!

Thanks for all the help guys, I'm now sitting happy at home with a shiny abra :) I'll be sure to get some research done with some others on my home forum to see if we can help in any way to further the research.

Strange, if you caught the pokemon it should find it. Are you entering the exact IVs? They need to be exact. If this happens again please post here or in the RNG Repoerter thread and tell me the exact IVs and nature of the pokemon that it did not find.

I will also modify RNG Reporter to give a message when nothing is found so that there is some feedback.

Good question about D/P, I am wondering that myself. At some point I need to try to see if I can get an initial seed in that game and correlate the pid of a bred pokemon to the platinum egg PID list.

I don't think we can do much yet, since we aren't 100% sure how the seed advances based on steps. Also, there are a lot of moving people on that screen which will make it harder.
