I believe that the most commonly accepted definition of sleep clause is that you must intentionally try to sleep 2 of your opponent's pokemon for it to come into play. So metronome cannot violate sleep clause; the probability of a sleep move is very low. However, I believe that it would be impossible to come to a really good ruling on assist choosing sleep. Under normal battle conditions I would probably say no, assist does not violate sleep clause because normally only 1-2 moveslots of 20 available will have sleep moves. In the extreme situation (that will never happen) where a sleep move is all assist can choose (the rest of your team would have to only be composed of sleep moves...), then I suppose it should violate sleep clause, but the line between the first and second situation is impossible to draw in my opinion...

This is all moot with shoddy's implementation of sleep clause; it only applies to 'gentleman's agreement' style enforcement.

@ cold'eye: Medicham basically needs scarf to be effective. It can finish something off, but then your opponent gets a basically free switch-in to set up or punish you in some other way. Generally not worth it, same problem slaking has. Also, how are you going to switch it in except on a team member's death? If you think it's too good for NU, once the NU ladder goes up, by all means exploit it to hell and back. Or do the same in the UU/ OU ladders now; if it's truly good, other players will start copying you.

@ supermrjmt: If an item gets used in a link battle, it's not actually used up, you get it back. I think the battle tower works the same way. So you only need 1 petaya berry most likely.

@Lightsabre: There might be a reason no curseperior set is in the analysis... any water/ grass type switch-in and your set-up was for naught. SD/Rock Polish at least has the chance to outspeed and Megahorn/Earthquake.

I guess max hp and spdef, that's what you'll need to survive. Also, put on sandstorm if you can.

Just to confirm what you said here. An item used in the battle tower isn't used up, you get it back at the end of the battle.

Is it a myth that if you get a pokemon and train it from a lower level (lets say 45) and you train it with the same EV bonuses as you do with the same pokemon you catch in the wild (lets say 70), the one that you started training at 45 will have better stats then the 70 one, even if they train with the same EV values?

It's a myth. At level 100, they'll have the same stats (assuming the same IVs).

When I try to launch Shoddy Battle, I get a pop-up saying "Unable to Launch Application". I'm pretty sure I just updated my Java, which is what I remember I did last time to solve the problem, but its still not working. Any suggestions?

The only reason I ask here is because I can't seem to get onto shoddybattle.com (i get redirected to other sites), so I can't ask there or redownload it. Can anybody help? My Mac says I have the latest version of java...

sorry about posting this again but unfortunately the last thread got deleted before I saw the answer(if there was one). SO
does mold breaker ignore unaware's ignoring of stat boost. ex. Rampardos used swords dance, attacks bibarell(ability unaware) with stone edge, would bibarell ignore the statboosts or does mold breaker change that?

Go to the Global Terminal in Jubilife City and go into the Pink Room. There, you can enter in IDs to download off WiFi to watch directly or download onto your Battle Recorder to watch later.

Infernape is THE mixed attacker, but Sceptile is blisteringly fast, learns Leaf Storm, Earthquake, Focus Punch and gets his Fire move through Hidden Power.

IF I use swords Dance then switch out to a diffrent pokemon, then bring the swords dancer back in, will it still have the boost from the first swords dance?

question. I want to send some videos of battles on platinum to my friend, but the number I see is always 00-00000-00000. I know that's not right, so how do I get the correct number?

While playing on NBS, my pokemon holding a Chilian Berry (The Normal Resist Berry) was hit with Endevour but the berry negated it's effect and was consumed. Is this a glitch exclusive to NBS or does this also happen in-game?

I think you have to upload it to Wi-Fi via the Global Terminal in Jubilife. The default 0s is if it's just the one saved locally onto your Recorder. To share, you have to upload. I think.

Can omeone suggest to me a good OU mixer? I'm sick of infernape... but I want a special grass and fire attack...

You could try a mixed Togekiss with : extremespeed, grass knot, fire blast, aura sphere\roost.
Otherwise, if you accept Hidden power as an optional move, Blaziken can go mixed with Hp grass, same with Arcanine and Tyranitar.
Flygon learns both fire blast\flamethrower and giga drain, though its special attack isn't spectacular.
Jirachi can use mixed sets with fire punch and grass knot.

Is there any specific reason people are obsessed with breeding near-perfect pokemon? With the exception of the speed stat, it just seems ridiculous to me. People talk about spending literally a month on a single pokemon, when it seems quite easy to obtain pretty much anything with at least good (27-31) IV's in every relevant stat by merely breeding a ton of pokemon with proper parents.

For reference, here is the difference:
Gengar Special Attack Natured w/ 0 IV's: 360 SpA
Gengar Special Attack Natured w/ 31 IV's: 394 SpA

Yes, it's a difference, but even between 0 and 31 IV's the change is really marginal (9%). Between 25~ and 31 IV's, the change is going to be somewhere in the 2% area. Is there something I'm missing? That does not seem worth the time investment, at all.

Also, it just doesn't seem efficient for competitive battling, seeing as how quickly the metagame shifts and how often you'd probably either need or want to change pokemon. I'm around 1400 on the Shoddy ladder atm (Not good, but also not functionally retarded), and I tend to change out a pokemon at least once every few days, I'd assume other people do the same (Perhaps with less frequency, but you get the point). Wouldn't it make more sense to breed 6 pokemon with IV's 25-31 in the same time it takes to breed 1 pokemon with IV's 29-31?

I just don't understand why anyone would spend large quantities of time to get higher than 25 IV's in any stat except speed, and maybe HP, much less weeks and months. It seems like I'm out of the loop on something.
