whats a good pokeball to catch a shiny slowpoke in? i plan on evolving it into a slowbro.
If you're asking what's the most effective, Quick and Dusk Balls at their maximum effect are great. You can also use a Net Ball. As far as what Pokeball a shiny Slowbro would look best coming out of, actually, that'd be the Quick Ball. The blue and yellow of the Quick Ball best matches the coloration of the Slowbro.

Oh, yeah i was talking about which one would look good for a slowbro to come out of. Sorry for not explaining, lol.

Hi,

When someone says no "hax items" as a rule, does this ban the item Scope Lens (I have found conflicting answers on this)?

Thankyou.

Not so much a question, but does anyone else find it retarded in Platinum that there is a sandy beach and patches of snow like 20 steps apart between Route 202, Sandgem Town, and Route 219?

Hey i have a question i am trying to get a quick answer but im getting mixed answers then i realised i have a smogon account, anyways to the question. If i want to EV train my vulpix for speed and i give it exp. share and send out a palkia to kill the ghastly, will my vulpix get a speed EV as well or just palkia unless i sent vulpix out?

Your Vulpix will get a Special Attack EV, yes.

Probopass moveset

Does anyone know of a good Probopass set that can counter steel pokemon, set up stealth rock and possibly act as a backup wall (it should at least be able to take a couple hits). For moves I'm thinking earth power, magnet rise, stealth rock and possibly power gem (or maybe an electric move for Skarmory). I really have no idea about the nature or EVs though. Also, please no hidden power, I want this to be usable in the games too. Thanks.

No, scope lens is not (though it's disputed) General "hax" items include King's Rock (/Razor Fang), Brightpowder, Focus Band and Quick Claw, though the latter 2 are the real "hax items."

No. We have beaches in Alaska.

Normally EV training wouldn't matter because as long as all it's EVs where in before Lv. 100, it would get them all, but what about if I'm trying to get a Poke'mon up to Lv. 50? When is it best to give it it's EVs and will it still get them all?

Basically, when a Pokemon is at Level 50, since it's half the way to Level 100 where all EVs apply, 8 EVs are equivalent to 1 Stat point. So, you wouldn't want to give a Pokemon more than 248 EVs (or 31 stat points) in a stat, as 248 is the last number before 255 which is divisible by 8. Thus, for example, if you were making a physical Lucario set, instead of going 252 Atk/252 Spe/4 HP, you'd use 248 Atk/248 Spe/8 HP.

Beyond that, it doesn't really matter when you apply them. Even if you do it at level 50, and you make sure not to level the Pokemon up, you can deposit it in the PC, close the PC, and open it up again and withdraw it, and the stats will be recalculated with the EVs factored in. So, just do it when it works best for you.

Thank you so much! Isn't every 4 EVs +1 to a stat, I always thought it was.

Yes, at Level 100, where all EVs are applied at their full value. At level 50 though, a Pokemon is only half-way to being fully leveled-up, and thus EVs have half their value. So, at Level 50, since EVs only have half their final value, it becomes 8 EVs=+1.

Oh! Nice way of explaining it, but I don't get why I should only give it 248 instead of 252
Because you can only have up to 255 EVs in a stat. If you EV up to 252 in two stats, you'd have a total of 8 EVs (12 including the 4 you throw into the last stat) that are just being wasted, since 248 (252 is only divisible by 4, not 8) is the largest number below 255 that is divisible by 8. Remember, at Level 50, 8 EVs=1 stat point. Thus, in order to get a stat point, you need to go up in sets of 8 at Level 50. After 248 EVs, you can't go up by any more sets of 8 in that stat, so the last 4 EVs would be doing nothing, and in effect, be wasted.

As a result, anything above 248 is a waste at Level 50, just like how anything above 252 at Level 100 is a waste (as at Level 100, EVs=1 Stat, and 252 is the largest number below 255 that is divisible by 4).

It doesn't really make too much of a difference, since it still only allows you one EV (as you'd have 14 EVs left over, which is only divisible by 8 once). One stat point in something like HP is better than none though, and thus why it's good to set it up that way.

Does anyone here know what happens when you beat every rank of every type in the Battle Hall in Platinum?

You'd face the Hall Matron Argenta and then on consecutive streaks, you'd just fight rank 10 Pokes, greying out each type as you beat it, until you beat all 17 in which case it goes back to rank 10 in each type again.

Nature is the last thing applied in the formula for determining stats, so it's still a 10% boost; it just has a bit less of an effect due to the Pokemon's stats being lower.

If you want more info, you might want to try reading the article on stats on the main site:
http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/stats

The formulas for how stats are determined are right towards the top of the article.

I have two questions regarding to the moves Bounce and Explosion, and to an ability Intimidate. Here is a scenario:

Trainer #1 sent out Gyarados.
Trainer #2 sent out Metagross.
-Gyarados's Intimidate doesn't lower Metagross's attack due to Clear Body.

Trainer #1's Gyarados used Bounce.
Trainer #2's Metagross used Explosion.
-Now here's the question: Will Metagross's Explosion be consider a "miss", and that mean Metagross will die and at the same time Gyarados is unharmed?

Trainer #2 sent out Salamence.
-Another question here: While Gyarados is in mid air, will Salamence's Intimidate affect Gyarados?

Thanks for the help in advance.
