I find it unlikely that any Pokemon could be used. Aside from the obvious issue of giants like Wailord or Groudon, they aren't going to make 3 overworld sprites (front, back and sides) for every Pokemon. Go on DPP and see how many pokemon you can find. it won't be a huge amout and some don't even turn from facing forward.
But I don't care either way. I'll be thrilled even if it is just for the starter Pokemon and a small number of others. Pikachu is practically certain.

Yeah it is. Chikorita looks nice and carefree. Cyndaquil looks like how it normally looks. XD (hands on belly, snout pointing upwards) Totodile is pretty neat, jaw wide open and one foot upward. ^-^
I wonder if we'll be able to make any pokemon follow us, I thought Infernape being able to follow you in Platnium's Amity Square was awesome but imagine if you could get a Suicune or Lugia to follow you. Let's hope for the best here.
wow i just went to my platinum copy, went to amity square with my infernape, if typhlosion will follow me throughout the game like my nape in the square (so awesome) ill be so happy

And to be honest I don't doubt this since I watch his videos often, but still be extremely cautious. Or maybe someone who can understand japanese, could you watch this video and confirm the 4 regions? Because I highly doubt pokebeach, and serebii would forget to mention such big news.

Oh man my thoughts exactly! I have choosen the girl on both Emerald and Platinum because the male hero isn't convincing :( I think Red and Gold are the best.
Newbark town looks sweet, and the pokemon following you around is a nice detail.

No, it would be real annoying because it would conflict with the whole Level-100 limit thing, which it would be very hard to avoid going over without the levels of the wild Pokemon and Gym Leaders going up extremely slowly, or them introducing some mechanic like forcing you to start over with a different team when you go to another region for the first time. That's why an all-region game most likely won't happen, along with factors like how much space it would take up, etc.
I've never minded the male's sprite to be honest. Brendan was pretty cool, and while DP Lucas was pretty bad, his Platinum update brought him up a few notches in my books. Liked his hat too, probably because I wear one of a similar style, albeit backwards, so it does not slant to the front.
That being said, the Gen4 Gold looks great, and from what we've seen of Silver he'll be a nice improvement as well. Probably safe to assume that Kris will have a sweet sprite to accompany Gold & Silver.
The pokemon following is an interesting idea to re implement, I am quite surprised it has taken them this long to do it. Sure there was the Amity Square, but that was hardly a comparison to how Yellow worked it.
I'm blabbing on here, but there is so much excitement from just a few screen shots and 3 new Sugimori arts. New Bark Town looks amazing, much better than even the difference between R/B and FR/LG.
Awesome, awesome, awesome! So looking forward to this. Huh, without an obvious best like Infernape or Swampert around though, I can't figure out who I should pick at the start. :P

Memory is no problem, it would cost slightly more, (maybe around 50) but memory is not a problem.
Like in GS more than one region wouldn't mean having to start the game again or anything. The gym leaders could be a problem but I'm sure they could just be capped at 85 or some high level. And wild pokemon levels don't have to be raised. In GS pokemon levels in Kanto remained relatively the same(as in maybe 1-2 levels of their original).
