HGSS Megaspeculation Thread

Miltank was faster than mostly Gastlies (100 Base Speed versus 80), and she had Rollout, IIRC. Gastly isn't exactly a physical wall. And what if Whitney's Miltank has Scrappy and Chesto Berry in HGSS? Even a Haunter will be USELESS!

Its still a 2ko or maybe a 3. so gastly can hypnosis then curse to make it die.

Lol, am I the only one who never used Curse?
When I first played through the game (around 8 years ago) I had no idea how powerful boosting attacks were, so you're not alone, I always sold my curse TM. :p

That said, I hope we get a Curse move tutor in this remake!

Edit: Whoops, I thought they were talking about the Non-ghost TM for some reason.

My technique versus Whitney was to purchase an Ice Punch TM and pray that my Croconaw could land a freeze... An ineffective strategy to say the least.

TheMantyke, I think they're talking about the Ghost-type effect of Curse, lol.

But yes, I recon doing that against most Gyms I couldn't beat.

I just played through the Johto part of Silver again. I didn't have any problems with Miltank this time around, I just used my Croconaw's Rage (lol), so every time I got hit with Rollout Rage's power got boosted. It only took 3-4 hits to KO it.

Hey guys I'd like to bring up a new topic.

What are the new wifi features going to be, and what ones would you want to see the most.

- Matchmaking: You select a battle type, and you are paired up with another random person who wants to battle. Basically like hte ladder on shoddy.

- Rules: Freeze clause, no ubers and others, which could prevent cheating and hax.

- Minigames: Online contests and such.

- Improved gts: You can see the other pokemons Evs, Ivs, nature, legitness, among other things when you are looking for a pokemon on the gts. You can also set standards for what you want on the gts.

what features do you want to see?

Er, if you're asking about the scans I posted, I'm assuming you mean the little red balls with "TrueGaming" behind them, right? If so, they have nothing to do with the scans. I think they're just there to advertise the people who got them or something.

Yes, thanks for clearing that up. It looked like a ghost pokemon for a moment.

I'm hoping that they bring the auto-L50/L100 to local wireless. Then again, we wanted that in Platinum, so who knows.

As for Miltank: Install Geodude, problem solved. Rollout is NVE so it'll do light damage until hit 3-4 by which time you should've Magintuded it to death.

Also, amazing new hatch locations!!! I know that in Sinnoh it's just going to show up as "Johto", but in HGSS we'll have some awesome stuff. I should make a preliminary list...
The Hatch locations are pretty good.

The game so far looks very promising.

Especially now since that beast will probably have Thick Fat.

Croconaw will probably have problems vs. Whitney, but that is why you catch yourself a Geodude!

EDIT: I can also not wait to see Mt. Silver, if Red's Pikachu has a Light Ball, the new moves, etc. I will have trouble beating him...

I can't wait for the new hatch locations! I think I might even keep some good eggs to hatch in Johto...Dragon's Den sounds good as does Lake of Rage :P

Whirl Islands is also nice, I'm just going through a Walkthrough to see locations. SS Aqua sounds good for some water Pokemon...Diglett's Cave for hatching Diglett if Kanto in in Gold...Mt Moon for the Clefairy family.

I'm not bothered about hatch locations. No one will be able to see it in battle. Anyway, I'm more looking foreward to new sprites, kanto, new pokeball seals, and perhaps a secret base (above ground this time please >_>). I know a lot of this junk has not yet been confirmed but some of it probably will. Save for the sprites I know about them...

Hatch locations are wonderful - even if other people can't see them, I like them just for the sentimental/trophy value :>

Oh, I forgot about Dragon's Den! That would sound wickedly cool *_*

New scans are out with more screenshots :'D

I remember Dragon's Den when I used to play it back in the day haha, my neighbor's little brother always used to make me do it because he was scared of it (I don't know why, haha)

Does anyone think that they will bring back the Headbutt in the overworld? Remember going up to the tree's and trying to get Aipoms?!

^Unfortunately, I don't think so. There's a screenshot of the Ilex Forest relating to the in-game event connected to the two Pichus from the 12th movie, and where there were headbutt trees in the original, there aren't any anymore. Plus, I believe that Game Freak originally intended to introduce the honey trees in generation two. So, at least for now, it doesn't look too likely, but I'll be happy if they do bring them back.

Headbutt trees were everywhere back then, mostly as a filler for the maps. There probably will be Headbutt trees, but more scarce; maybe as many as honey trees in Sinnoh.

I love hatch locations, it makes my Pokemon even more 'special' to me :)

How more boring does the profile look when it says 'Hatched on Route 212'?

I never thought Whitney was very hard. I usually started with Chickorita, and had Bayleef by then, and used Reflect making the fight pretty easy from there.

Do you think that you will be able to obtain the ExtremeSpeed Dratini in the new ones?

And a Nasty Plot tutor would be sweet for the likes of Lucario.

ExtremeSpeed Dratini would be my best friend. I'm currently building a Battle Tower team and I have a Dragonite planned for it...

Same. Maybe Dragonite could move into the top 25, considering many choice scarfers would go down in one hit to Extremespeed, unfortunately even with an Adamant nature and a Life Orb it fails to OHKO 64 HP / 0 Def Mamoswine, but it easily takes out Weavile. With Stealth Rocks up, it deals 84% maximum, so you have a pretty good shot at taking it out with prior damage. Another problem is the lack of moveslots Dragonite can have. As it is, Dragonite needs Dragon Dance, Outrage, Extremespeed, and either Superpower, Fire Punch, or Earthquake, so no matter what you are sacrificing a priority attack or coverage. Personally, a CB set would be extremely useful, although I could see Stealth Rock really hampering that. I really hope they don't make it a move tutor either, because that would just be another thing Garchomp would be Uber for.
