We had a good start, and some good passages of play. We actually kept the ball against Barcelona at times, but we should've done more of that. I don't know why we were just giving it away so easily.. too sloppy and we could've been punished for that. To be honest, giving the ball away cheaply never really cost us much, other than momentum. A mix up from Evra and lazy challenges from Anderson and Vidic cost us for both goals.

We weren't terrible by any means.. but when you're that sloppy with passing (which we usually never are) you're not going to get anywhere.

Wow, not what I expected. Iniesta really dominated midfield. I didn't see much from Ronaldo except for the great free kick. Really Park shouldn't have been on, he does nothing but lose the ball. Even with Arsenal he got some a lucky goal but lost the ball a lot. I really expected more from United and are disappointed with the way they played. Oh well, we won the premiership. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

always makes me chuckle when fans refer to their team as 'we'... i think that only ever happens in football

in the man u vs barcelona match i think man u could have done better than they did. they could have been more offensive and tried to get the ball more. i think berbatov did badly, all he did was kick and head it over the bar.

btw i would say that about united as i support man city. =)

I think it's more a "passionate sports fan" thing than a football thing. I do that with the hockey team I root for.

Also, as a fledgling Liverpool fan I was happy with the result of today's game. =D

bye bye Newcastle

Hey, we may actually be in the Championship but it was your team that put on a fantastic impersonation of a Championship team tonight. That was a truly terrible performance, most notably by Vidic. He was at fault for the first goal, looked generally uncomfortable and pretty much did everything in his power to make sure he didn't get in the way of that dangerous free-kick. The midfield was hopelessly outplayed without Fletcher...highlight of the match was Scholes showing his tackling prowess...loved it. ^^

the champions league final was pretty interesting. for the first ten minutes, Barcelona might have played in man utd's half for about thirty second. then eto'o i guess built up their confidence when he scored on barca's very first oppertunity, because after that it was back to the usual barca.

two things in particular were of interest to me: ronaldo hating on puyol so much and messi's only goal being off a header, of all things.

It surprises me that a team that won the Premier League twice and Champions League 07-08 can fall apart so badly after receiving one goal... in the 10th minute

Truly terrible performance for a team that looked so solid all around...

Puyol had a great match

It was an alright game, Man U dominates, Barca scores and dominates the rest of the game. Did anyone see Henry juke the fuck out of Ferdinand? That was golden, to bad he missed from...3 feet away? I still think Ferdinand is one of the most overrated defenders in the EPL right now! :x

It was kind of funny seeing Man U give up at the end. The unstoppable team, going out and just hitting people. Ronaldo took out Puyol like 3 times before finally receiving a card, it seems like the refs are "Oh my god, that's Ronaldo, let's warn him 4 times before carding!!!" And the Vidic tackle at the end was just unsportsmanlike, there really was no need for that at all.

Well done Barcelona on an unprecedented treble, plus as a Liverpool fan seeing Man Utd lose is always nice! A special shout-out to Iniesta, Messi and Xavi aswell. They are fucking awesome, literally ran Man Utd ragged and deserved all the plaudits received this season. Aside from the first 10 minutes, Barcelona's makeshift back 4 wasn't really tested, which is a shame, Man Utd just can't seem to get the ball off them.

Great game, Barca deserved to win.
I loved the header from Messi, such a small player (but oh so talented) and still being able to use it's head to score.

It's an unwritten rule in football that Newcastle fans can't comment on other teams' defenders since the days of Titus Bramble and Boumsoung lol

In fairness Ferdinand has had a dodgy back for the whole season and didn't play since the Arsenal game about a month ago or something. Puyol is a cunt, Ronaldo tried to take him out studs first but missed him, only taking him down with his arm, Puyol goes down clutching his calf. Man Utd counter attack, Puyol gets up and runs back into defence, then when we have the ball in midfield again he decides he's injured once more.

Scholes should've started anyway. Should have done what he did on Busquets to Iniesta in the first minute. I was genuinely convinced he'd broken Busquets' leg there.

great UEFA final. I was rooting for Barca all the way and I'm rlly glad they won. I dont understand why their victory was so unexpected because they have a very solid well-blanced team.

yes we were watching
yes we were watching
yes we were watching

we watched you get destroyed
we watched you get destroyed
we watched you get destroyed

@ the songs intended at liverpool "Are you watching merseyside?!"

van der sar played a decent match but i couldnt help thinking he could have done more to prevent the second goal. although the cross was brilliant and the header was equally as good.

Given is better than van der sar. =)

I don't know why but I thought both goals were savable. A goalie should never be beaten on his near post, which he was, for the first goal. And for the second goal, which was probably harder, I felt he could at least get a touch on the ball, which was kinda criminal. Despite all of that, VDS made a couple of very important saves too but it was too late imo.

shouldn't have let the first one past though, got a hand to it, should've kept it out.

Perhaps but Van der Sar is not a arrogant whinger with no sense of loyalty.

'i'm leaving the club because you're playing harper instead of me'

'ok. now i'm not leaving the club because you're playing me again'

'ok, i'm leaving the club anyway'
