Yeah I'm not signing that petition mostly because of the online thing, tons of people would sign up and not go no matter what.

And I was at the Philly one today, good fun, I'll post the few videos I have when they finish uploading.

heh i love tymid i tried to battle him but he never responded, he removed the video of my final, his narration was pretty funny, he even said that protect was a waste of a moveslot and that my team used not very good, but decent strategy
 
Congrats ethan and vash and good luck at st. louis. It turns out i have a friend who was going to st. louis already at the time of the event but after seeing the turnout for philly i still dont think that will change my mind about going but we'll see. plus i habve some other friends who would want to participate so if they really want to i guess it wouldnt hurt to go. Ill be sure to post something here once i know for sure otherwise i wont be going. Also I signed that petition.
 
I'm sorry for all you dedicated players who put effort into this, but did not get in. I signed the petition and wrote a complaint/request to TPC. Hope I helped in some way..

It'd be awesome if they can come here to NYC and host it.
But if not, there is always next year..

I singed the petition too and I'm also about to email them. Also, I hope hnh(I think it was you who took the picture of my Smogon card signed by Marilland, lol) and myseryman(Dan) have a way to upload the pictures they took of me.
 
Hopefully the petition will get 1000 signatures as I signed it, and also emailed on the link provided few pages back. These following thoughts will probably stick for a long time to come:

Level 39 leafeon
bubblebeam empoleon
articuno with aerial ace
rhyperior with thunderbolt

TPCi defintely needs to plan better for future regional events as we know how many people attended which ones and all.

I made this post after Seattle, and sadly I was close to right about this.
 
So, I havent done this yet because it might be a total waste and take too much time anyway, but I need to know if it would "show up as hacked" / "be unethical". Remember, I'm new to the forums...

Ibwant a speedy L50 Zapdos for the VGCs. Platinum's Zapdos is L60. My XD Zapdos shows up randomly w/ Mirror B. The "quickest way it seems for me to get one would be to reset my Leaf Green and play through to the PowerPlant and then soft reset like 200 (literally) times for a passable IV/Nature Zapdos.

I would naturally like to speed up the process, so I am totally willing to go to Gamestop and buy a GBA Gameshark to speed up this whole process (St. Louis is in like 3 WEEKS!).

Now I know if you just rip it off with a GS it will definitely fail VGC hack checks, but what if I just use it to turn off random encounters to rush through the game more quickly?

Do any of you Veterans know if that would somehow "dirty" my Zapdos so that it would fail a hack check. If it would then Im not going to waste the 15$ on a GS!

It shouldn't show up as hacked because the actual Pokemon is not altered in any way and they are not checking your Leaf Green anyway. Good lucks.

As long as the game itself actually creates the pokemon, then its not illegitamate. Its like lineage: two hacked pokemon's offspring will be legit, cause the game creates it; all it grabs from the hacks is 2 IVs off each. EDIT: I just saw, you wrote "unethical". Well, people differ in opinions (and are entitled to them) but speeding up a proccess to get things that are obtainable: theres nothing wrong with that. An athelete has to train, and then race: but the "training"/"breeding" proccess in pokemon has nothing to do with competitive battling (it does not improve your skills), so that analyogy is flawed (actually becoming a disanalogy).

I would love to sign the petition, but according to the TOS you need to be of legal age in the U.S's laws. Im 17 from the UK, so I wanted to know what the U.S's laws are as to whether I am allowed to sign.

If not (and if as well), I will still be writing an e-mail in a very polite manner on teh subject of qualifications, regularity of tournaments and not even hearing about the London event (e.g. announce it earlier!).
 
The USs Laws of Legal Age differ in different States. Some states, you have to be 21. Other's recognize an adult as 20, 18, and 17. I suppose it would be up to the State where the paperwork was done, or maybe even UKs rules? I'll sign it later, I need my medicine..

Don't let your age stop you from being heard. While legally you aren't allowed to sign (I think), in practice, what's going to happen if you do? You're simply making your voice heard, and no one's going to come after you for that. By all means, write that email, and sign that petition as well.

And on an offnote, hacked parents are illegal for trading purposes here on Smogon, and I myself have a particular pet peeve (if that's the right word for it) about it. Don't use them, even if they do pass legitimacy tests.

What the heck is the point in buying a gameshark just to speed up encounters so you can get to Zapdos... It takes all of 4 hours to get to Zapdos with a masterball. Besides, there's a Timid 31/x/26/30/31/31(something like that) Zapdos on the wifi forums, so you can try trading for that if you want a speedy Zapdos.
 
I'm going to advertise the petition. And who cares if you're under the age of 18 and you sign that petition? They won't know that.

Speaking of the tournament, when I got there, someone shouted, "Okay, who drew the penis in PictoChat?" Was that anyone here? And then the girl next to him scolded him.

ALSO, I noticed a lot more girls came this time than last year. One of the girls was trying to recruit people for her website that's for girls who want to compete in Pokemon Tournaments like the last one. Anyone talk to her?

On my offnote: "Don't use them, even if they do pass legitimacy tests", could you elaborate? (perhaps in PM form so we dont clog up the thread), I fail to see why we should deny others from saving time. I want to be convined, but dont get it. Cheers :)

Yep, and I got the site. Lucky me, eh? Also, apparently the Judge Prof. Fern (I think) is one of the Admins for the site.

And I also noticed the pretty girls.. more then one way... ;D

Man, I'm starting to feel like Jiraiya Sensei from Naruto... *sigh*

I have absolutely nothing to do with these tournaments, but this reminded me of something that happened in an Australian tournament a few years ago. It was the kind of thing where Lv100 ubers were everywhere, and I wound up against a kid with a Grovyle. I don't even think it was leveled high enough to be a Sceptile either. He also had a freshly caught Groudon and Kyogre from Emerald (Lv70).

I think that Grovyle beats the Leafeon you mentioned.

At least that was the worst of it. The only other stupid things were someone's Mew trying to Thunder my Ho-oh in the sun (keep in mind Australia never got Mew in Advance at all, way to let that through, hack-checker. Then again, the checks were simply someone firing up your game in a perfectly normal GBA Micro and looking at your party) and the person who got to the finals by beating me got owned by a Shedinja due to not picking anything that could hit it. Aforementioned Shedinja was level 90-something, as was the rest of that person's team. I don't know what was worse: losing at the semi-finals or the person who beat me proceeding to get owned by a Shedinja. I totally could have beaten that person if I battled them. Ever been both really angry and crying at the same time? I was.

BTW, I lost because Calm Mind Mewtwo beats non-Calm Mind Mewtwo, and I didn't teach mine that due to no spare TM (cloning wasn't found out at the time) and that with my luck, if I were to use it, I'd get nailed by a critical which would negate the Sp.Def boost.

Sorry for epic derail, just wanted to get all that off my chest.
