No, Philly was not a bust. It's just they were not prepared for such a massive amount of people, and their selection system is a piece of crap. As long as they don't bring back that silly online application thing..
IMO, they should have each player in line have 1 battle to "trim the fat" and then do the random selection. This would vastly increase the quality of players, if nothing else. They can do multiple ones at the same time, shouldn't take more then an hour with about 10 people watching each battle. Hell, they don't even have to do that. Just take down 2 peoples names, and have them come back with the end screen result. Simple.
If you come across a very nice rounded Zapdos (Modest would be so nice) then let me know. I'll give you probably anything I have that I am allowed to distribute for it.
Really? That's completely idiotic. If they're going to have a (shiny/non-shiny) giveaway of (insert name of Pokemon here) like this Milotic one, they should do that as a separate event. Assuming people came to the VGC just for a free Pokemon, forcing anyone who may want it to register for a tournament they don't want to enter is just stupid.
what they should have is seperate events for juniors and seniors seeing as its a large turnout either way. (Example: Juniors on say 14 of june all day, senior's on 15th of June) that way they can allow everybody that attends to enter. it sucks to get turned away.
*people didn't attend the regional event for that dumb milotic!! 99.9% of attendee's thought they had a chance to enter. it was just dumb luck as everybody in there right mind had the same idea and it was the only one on the eastern seaboard. Total amount of seniors alone was 600. the odds alone was 1 in 5 to get chosen. 20% chance. For myself that was a big gamble for nothing.

Please do something about the qualifiers in the NE. Maybe 2 qualifers in NE, or some way for everyone to participate. Maybe even the JAA tests or even last years VGS test. There were plenty of juniors that left crying after they didn't get chosen. These are the people I felt bad the most for :(

Well if that was certainly the case they cared more about Shiny Milotic than battling then that's just plain wrong indeed.
In that case, they should just open the Milotic for all attendees and hold the competition separately. I don't suppose many people know about shiny RNG abuse at all, heh. :x

Of course, it's Nintendo. You think they actually care about their customers? Look at *cough* Brawl *cough* - Melee was more or less perfect IMO. It got ruined with the slower movement speed, the random tripping, and other things I'm probably forgetting since I haven't touched it in over a year.
I know about it, but I don't really care. Shinies, for the most part, look like crap. Gengar, Gyarados, Charizard, and Rayquaza are the best shinies.
As for the Bon Kurei reference: I got it. I do <3 One Piece though (Oda needs to do more Sanji cover stories. :P)
I do agree though, the two things should be held separately. Ultimately, Nintendo won't change anything, as it's more money for them.
Yeah, I'm pretty selective about what I breed. I actually like Shiny Milotic, but Pokemon like the hot pink Shiny Magcargo are blaarrgh. And shiny slugma was silver too. Where'd that come from ._.
Heh, I bred Bon Kurei specifically because his shiny color scheme matches Bon Kurei's somewhat. xD I'm glad it was useful, though I intended it mainly to be for the luls. Did you see the latest Sanji cover page? LOL
Well either way, if the majority of people went for the Shiny Milotic, it might have had the same turnout if they had just announced that all attendees could receive one. The whole incentive was probably to have people buy Platinum, though...since the VGC was Platinum only, right? And since the battles were Platinum only and Platinum is relatively new... hmmn. I guess it would have seemed suspicious if they just told everyone it was Platinum only without a reason. xP Pfft.

someone should have had a laptop with the petition at the tourney (except that it didnt exist back then) because you would have gotten entrants-128 signups right there lol
HAHAHA that was so funny, immature, but pretty darn funny.
the site is www.gpba.net I visited it for like two seconds xD but yeah it was nice to see more girls compete other than me and the occasional mom haha. I think last year because of the online quiz and such it trimmed down the turnout, they really should have kept that format. I'll be signing that petition ;D

@Dozer: Yea, you bred my SwineFlu!! and my ObamaSnow in very little time, even without the RNG abuse, and I thank you for that. However, what I do not like you for is not putting up any argument to your parents about stranding me in a place I have never been to, nor even giving a second though to leaving me there. You didn't even go "how about we stay here and you guys come back or let us find a way home" or ANYTHING! I could have fucking died in "Killadelphia" but not one of you gave a shit. You cat died 6 hours before you even found out about it, yet you guys rushed home to reviailize it or some shit, leaving me to possibly die. Real great. Real smart thinking there.. "Let's go bury my cat while we leave my best friend to die in the most dangerous town in the world." Whatever man.. idk who said that, but my friend was the one who drew the picture in it lol. i have the picture on my phone. i was the one in the tye-dye shirt that went around asking everyone to go into pictochat while on line waiting for registration
