I haven't played Pokemon since Nationals. Y'all should stop worrying and get back to your normal lives!
Amen. All I really do is redis some pokemon in a few of the chain giveaways as far as Pokemon is concerned.

EDIT: Oh, here's something to talk about. I will be most likely bringing my Wii and Smash Bros Brawl with me to San Diego. Of course, I won't bother if nobody is gonna game up with me. :P I have like Wii Sports and Mario Party 8 and some stuff too, but I need 2 more Wiimotes.

Yay! I'll bring my wiimotes! My lil bro is a Smash BROs maniac!

You know Batpig. I'm going to take your advice. As soon as I get these 6 pokes leveled up/tested they're going up on a shelf for a while. Thanks! ^.6

Uh oh. I haven't got Shoe's pokémon yet (I'm giving him half my next year's team as a trial run). I think I should really get to it. =P

When do the worlds start, come to think of it? August the somethingth?

Probably nothing too bad because we know what they've used in the past.

I would just take them on cautiously, and expect something wacky to come loose. And take advantage of KOing stuff before it can land an attack. In short, just play unpredictably.

I'm back from California. Too bad I have much todo today, so this will be quick.

@Vash & matt - Are you guys serious? You use Wiimotes when you play SSBB? You're supposed to be using the Gamecube controller (I'm abit of a Smash fan).

@Tyler422 - BlueCookies already pointed that out...

@RandomVGC - That's the reason why we have AIM, PMing, and "other sources" on which to discuss our strategies.

@everyone - This is from the Worlds rules (so another Alakapimp doesn't happen):
Event officials have the final decision regarding the legality of a Pokémon.

heh, i was gonna ask a similiar thing but with xbox, if i lug an xbox up there would anybody be interested in playing halo or guitar hero?

I hate to beat a dead horse but that is exactly why an "Alakapimp" happened in the first place. That stipulation has been in place for every leg of the tourney. You shouldn't take any comfort in such a disclaimer at all.

Yeah, that doesn't actually mean anything and as Jumpman says it's what caused 'Alakapimpgate' in the first place. Still leaves the problems of the organisers possibly allowing a hack or disqualifying something legit.

Depends on what happens on the day I guess. And if Mike Liesik is lurking this thread, chances are the judges will be stricter at the worlds.
And you have to see it from Marriland's perspective too: he'd have been crushing the hopes of a guy who'd already won a regional. Poor Marriland probably wouldn't have been able to sleep the night having done that, lol. Plus it would majorly annoy anyone who was knocked out of Dallas by Alakapimp.

Oh yeah and Wiimote and Nunchuk for Brawl isn't that bad; I used to play a pretty good Bowser on that. Didn't have a Gamecube controller though.

I'll spot some Gamecube controllers and a disc if we can fit Melee in there too.

By "another Alakapimp", I meant there won't be another 7 page argument over whether a person should have been DQ'ed or not, because we at least know that the judges rule this and they can abuse power now =O

As for San Diego, it's really clean and interesting city, especially for tourists. I'll summarized what I saw there when I visited it 3 days ago.

Welcome guys to San Diego, a major city in SoCal. It's only 18 miles from the international border with Mexico, which contributes to its major Hispanic population. Most of the people living in San Diego are either retired people of all cultures (mainly White), and Hispanics. First off, there's the entertainment. There are two maritime/naval museums - one on the U.S.S. Midway, and one on the Star of India. Looking for something on land? There's a lighthouse atop a hill on a peninsula. It's 400 feet above sea level, making it the highest point in the city. Maybe you're someone who wants to go shopping? Visit Seaport City, which had a wide variety of souviner shops, including hat shops, t-shirt shops, and even a shop dedicated to pirates! If you're looking for something to eat, Buster's Hawaiian Grill & Bar at Seaport City is the way to go! It has amazing fries, and the burgers are great as well (maybe all Smogoners can eat there for pre-tourney party?). The San Diego Convention center is also at the city, and Comic-con will be held there starting late July (too bad it doesn't meet with the Worlds' schedule). And finally, there's the Hilton Bayfront, the hotel that Worlds will take place in and that you guys will be staying in. It's relatively new, made only a few years ago. It just so happens to be right next to the convention center. I don't really know what there is in the actual hotel, but you could try looking on their website. So guys, have fun in San Diego, and go win some battles (isn't this a bit too early to say this?).

Yeah, I would be interested in playing both, though I prefer Melee because I'm still highly competitive at it =D Anyone up for money matches? =P

Money matches on melee??? Aww no i actually feel like I'm missing out on things.
I'd rape you all with my Upkick machine known as Fox or spike ya hard with Falco.
God i miss playing that game.

The only part of the post I care about. :P

Well, the thing is, my lil sister broke ALL of my GC controllers, including my Wavebird. :( She left it turned on in the cabinet for god knows how long, and the batteries literally started to melt in the thing. Either way, I'm too accustomed to Wiimote+Nunchuck now. Sucks I can't even play any of my Cube games, or get Super Metroid from the Shop. :pirate:

Anyway, bring all the Wiimotes/GC pads you guys can. It will make for better gaming for everybody. And Melee? HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELL YEA!
heh, i was gonna ask a similiar thing but with xbox, if i lug an xbox up there would anybody be interested in playing halo or guitar hero?
I was considering bringing Guitar Hero Aerosmith/WT but it's just too much stuff for me and my Mothers (......) bad bodies. Plus, it's just that much more money that we don't have. I'd play some GH or some Halo, but I'd much rather go with CoD4. :D
I'll spot some Gamecube controllers and a disc if we can fit Melee in there too.
Bring it all! I got the Memory Card for GC with all the Melee stuff unlocked, but bring your just in case. We need 2x Wiimotes and 4x Cube controllers.

Too poor for money matches. :( But I think I would slay you in Melee. Well, maybe not, haven't touched it in ages.
If somebody is bringing Brawl, make sure GameCube controllers are available; that's what real players use. I can bring one or two if necessary.
Bring all you can. It's better to have Overload then have somebody have the mindset "Will if PersonA is bringing x controllers, then I should ONLY bring y.." I'd rather see 6 then end up seeing 2, ya know.

It's nice to see you all planning those amazing activities for San Diego. I like following this thread but this makes me feel so sad. I spent a lot of money and time to go to Paris to be knocked by this french guy in semifinals by hax and the poor thing about this is that i can't stop thinking about it every day... An abomasnow with 1 HP left, Hydropump missing... (Please, one of the two free spots in San Diego T__T)

I envy all of you guys, i hope you enjoy a lot :'(

PS: I'd like to have a TRUE Spanish qualifier next year...

What you write is so sad that I honestly hope there be a Spanish qualifier...

Two questions, though. Didn't you get paid the trip to Paris or did you only get an invitation to compete at Paris's tourney?

And isn't there a video of your semi-final? If not, what exactly happened? =/

I wasn't the Spanish champ. I losed in the Spanish qualifier due to some unlucky things.

First, they were normal colosseum matches (doubles, 3 vs 3) instead of double cup. In the official web they didn't say nothing about it.

Second, i losed by hax (A critical giga impact from a Metagross). A critical hit in this format hurts more, i mean, in normal colosseum.

Third, The referees didn't know nothing about pokémon. They misunderstood some rules. i.e. They misunderstood Self-ko clause: They didn't let the use of explosion or destiny bond from the beginning to the end of the matches. Explosion could have save my ass in the match i losed... They misunderstood species clause: They didn't let both trainers to use the same pokémon. they dq'd two guys because both were using males Garchomps...

So, i have to paid the hotel and the travel to Paris... I'll explain what happened in my semifinal later, i'm in a hurry now

Wow. :O
The dangers of rules being (probably) lost in translation. Nintendo Ibérica suck so much. Not only can they not be bothered to think of Spanish Pokémon names, but they also host a shoddily-organised tournament which doesn't really have a prize (just free travel and hotel to Paris, to compete in another national... woohoo).
