HGSS Megaspeculation Thread

I really don't think they'll add a new BF there, but I do think they will add new areas besides the Pokethlon thing, something like a new route/cave/thing.

I'm quite sure I've been attacked by Geodudes in the cave to the North of Jubilife when I smashed some of those rocks. And down at the beach near Pastoria. I think the encounter rate may have been lowered, but I'm sure they still have it.

Bulbapedia says wild Pokemon appear under rocks in Generation IV, and I'm certain I haven't encounter a Pokemon while using Rock Smash in my Diamond/3 run-throughs of Pearl/Platinum.

And a large tower like structure (looks like the Battle Tower) can be seen west of Cianwood. I've never been a fan of frontiers (outside the tower and sometimes factory) and I severly doubt I'll like this Pokethalon place, so I hope others and myself are wrong.

I think I'm the only person who played GSC who thought Red was stupid.

YES I got all 16 badges!
A new area has opened up to you.

Pokemon Center, a girl who's hiding from society and a big cave.

OMG a trainer with a different sprite at the end of a long dramatic dark path!!!
Red: ...
Me: :|

I know Red's lack of speech is supposed to signify the hero of Red/Blue (who doesn't say anything but Yes/No, which could be a head nod/shake. It does not make for a fun final battle.

The Larvitars outside Mt. Silver were more exciting than Red.

Just nitpicking, the Larvitars were inside. In Crystal, there were even Pupitars. Misdreavus was the rare thing found outside.

On a different topic (language issues), I once played a Japanese Gold that was on a 20-games-in-one cartridge a family friend found at work. Managed to get through that okay. Had some prior experience through a partially translated (they kinda gave up by Kanto) and buggy Silver ROM. Buggy as in if the Kanto gyms were done in the wrong order Erika had a Lv120+ Megahorn Pinsir, and an attack being blocked by Protect crashed the game.

Finally, I like the Entei sprite. Too bad its front-left (our right) leg is COMPLETELY blocking its hind-right leg. That's kinda awkward.

lol, they should do something to bump up RED's team. I mean, while they should give pikachu light ball, they should really bump up his AI. Like make him switch out of something with earthquake on pikachu, otherwise scarfEQ will destroy his whole team. Heck, just use 6 scarved pokes with decent coverage moves and it's an easy win.

Lol, I would love to see a video of Red switching out of a little kid's Scarf EQ, only to Belly Drum with his Charizard(he had one, didn't he?) and sweep his entire team.

Scizor used quick attack!
Blastoise used aqua jet!
Weavile used ice shard.

Seriously, lots of priority on many common pokes from those games now.

I don't see why we can't have the cake and ice cream here, actually. IIRC, Platinum used about 30 MB of memory. Heck, Game Freak could actually add a LARGE amount of extras to Hg/Ss, and the finished product wouldn't be any bigger than one of the larger DS games, which is the Yu-Gi-Oh! series (Seriously, they generally use about 200~ MB.)

In other words, the Battle Frontier and the Pokéthlon area, in my opinion, could both fit in the games without any issues.

They could, but then again, Fire Red and Leaf Green could have added a real Battle Tower to their games that at least modelled the Tower from Ruby and Sapphire. They instead gave us the cheap, no-replay-value "Trainer Tower", and I'm guessing that this is because they didn't want to cheapen the effect that the inaugural Battle Frontier in Emerald would have eight months later. And I guess to be fair, the games that FRLG were remaking didn't have Battle Towers of any sort, but I doubt this is the reason the FRLG Tower was so crappy.

Since GS technically didn't have a Battle Tower either (HGSS is remaking GS, not Crystal), we aren't necessarily entitled to a Battle Tower any more than we were for FRLG. That said, I bet we do have one, but I don't think they're going to add a Battle Frontier.

Although I do agree with Jumpman about the lack of an entire Frontier, I do see them doing little "mini-frontiers" like they did in Emerald. I actually like doing those, and they're a good way to keep things fresh and interesting.

At 50% health, I am not sure Charizard would die to Weavile's Ice Shard, and Blastoise never(rarely) uses Aqua Jet.

Doubt we will have a frontier. Gamefreak will want Platinum and HGSS to compliment each other, what a better way to do so than make the consumer buy both?

sorry, was thinking he would be at 25% and salac boosted. So without a speed boost, there is more that can stop him.

Well, the situation would be after him switching in, so he can either Substitute or Belly Drum. If he opts for the former, then there is no way priority is going to stop him, since the priority loser will just die in the case of Scizor, Weavile, and Lucario. Obviously, you could work around it, like in OU, but the prevalence of weather and stealth rock keep him at bay, I don't know many casual players who use these in game.

I'm quietly optimistic for the Pokethlon. I have very rarely given contests any attention at all as they bore me in both concept and execution but Pokethlon seems like a step up (might just be because I'm into athletics and stuff though). I'm not expecting it to be any more than a pleasant little distraction but if it manages to be that, then it'll be a whole stack better than the Contests in my estimation!

And I'm always up for the possiblity to get more ribbons on my favorite Pokemon (I'm cool like that).

Well, Hg/Ss does seem to be adding quite the amount of Crystal references; I just thought it would be safe to assume Hg/Ss would have a Battle something in the wings with the games, was all.

Do you mean battle tents? Because those i found boring because they used weak pokemon aginat your rng abused perfect iv ev trained good moveset pokes. Everything was an ohko.

Oh god yes, I have been wanting them to bring back the "mom bank" for years. Maybe she'll buy dolls and stuff for you again?

I hope RSE's secret bases were back. They were like a home away from home. Now if only you could get a real tv and pc and a healing bed then you'd be talking also being able to fight your friends every day was just cool. Maybe your mom can buy more space in your room like bigger carpets and tables.

Actually, the best part about those were how easy it was to EXP train your Pokemon. If these were implemented in HGSS, you could just get a friend's LV100 Happiny and beat it for over 5000 EXP each time.
