Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Everything related to HG/SS is still considered experimental. Additionally, I would guess that you are trying Suicune -- Which is something that I can't test under the debugger because it crashes on that encounter and is therefore something that I don't have the capability to check into. Sorry.

I guess I should have waited for the experimental stages to be over before attempting this, but oh well. Atleast I figured out when the time/delay is generated when RNGing for ID/SID combos in HG/SS, but my post went unnoticed and I'm sure someone beat me too it.

It actually does say in my post that I'm after Suicune. And, ugh, that's annoying. Prehaps try it on a different poke with that seed and see if sumfink happens? At any rate, thanks for your help.

I guess I'll go buy a used copy of plat to get a Shaymin before the event is over and leave this one on ice.

I have a ask for You about hgss'rng.
I must soft-reset just Delay and Second and after I must walking for having the right frame (128 walk = +1 frame).
Is It right ?

Im catching something, i just need to know how far off the frame I am and see what frame I hit so I can know when to SR to get my shiny. In DPPt you coin flip to see if you hit the right frame, how do I do this in Emerald. I just need to see how much I am off by.
I don't emerald abuse, but the way I understand it, you catch the pokemon and then look at your results to see where you are at.

Yea, I have access to an accurate IV checker and everything but it's like impossible to go through emloop forever with the IVs of the pokemon I got and see what frame I'm on, I need a way to confirm what frame I am in so I know how much I am off. I tried using this video on youtube, where this person figures out how much he is off but doesn't say how he did, I tried implementing -4.8, the delay from his Oddish's cry, into one of my spreads, but that didn't work, I have to see what frame I myself hit so I can see by how much I'm off, like in the In Game section, it says:

But it doesnt say how I do this, I have the nature, IVs, everything there is to know, but I just can't find what frame I hit which I need to know.

RNG Reporter can search nearby spreads, with windows like +-1 second, +-3 seconds and +-5 seconds. Then put the IV's at the top to narrow your search even further. Hopefully this helps.

If you're catching something why don't you just generate a list/find seed or whatever you need to do with RNG Reporter and find where you're at?

Edit: I'm slower than timetwister :P

Ok, this is a really noobish question, but I've never tried RNG captures before. How do you know you'll get the pokemon you want when you Sweet Scent? For example, let's say I'm hunting for Machop and I'm outside Oreburgh City, if I Sweet Scent, how do I know I'll be getting a Machop and not a Geodude?

The answer is encounter slots. Each frame has a certain encounter slot, which determines your resulting species.

Bearsfan: thanks for your help, I figured it out =)

Also, though I hate to keep asking stupid questions; everyone keeps talking about their "shiny spreads," how does one go about finding them? Is there any other way other than typing a few parameters into RNG Reporter's Time Finder and seeing what spreads come back?

You can't win if you don't give the error message and say what you were doing when it happened, etc.

And now it's fine. Wierd. But I'm not complaining.

If I was thinking, I would have taken a screen shot.

It said "Failed to intialize" If I continued to try an start it, all of the options for nature, method, etc, were missing and if I entered a seed, it turned back a response that I knew to be wrong in a format that it doesn't normally.

Can anyone help me?

Well, I hope I'm not offensive, but your english is a little poor. :/ No offense, I suppose you're foreign.

If I understood what you're trying to say, yes, you must Soft reset and hit your delay and second, and then 128 steps will equal 1 advancement.

getting some weird results with this PBR surfing pikachu wondercard. I've succesfully abused my Worlds 09 Weavile and this TRU Dragonite WC I got from an AR code, so I'm not sure what's going wrong here...

I'm shooting for a delay of 600 and a frame of 54.
Here's a sample of my results when testing to see if I could figure out what is wrong...
Delay / Monster Number / NPC movements / Journal flips / Frame: should get/got
596 / 1 / 0 / 15 / 31 / 31
606 / 1 / 3 / 25 / 54 / 55???
600 1 / 4 / 0 / 5 / 5
596 1 / 1 / 26 / 54 / 55???

Now, I realize that I "could" have miscounted, or miscalculated when watching his movements to get an odd frame, but on that last try, facing forward already, he only took a step forward and stopped. He even stayed there for a while after I closed the journal. I kind of doubt I miscounted there, but I still have 1 unaccounted for advancement.

Anybody got any ideas? Am I missing something? It seems to work just fine 50% of the time, but 50% of the time I seem to have 1, 2, or 3 unaccounted for advancements.

I'm in solaceon town. He doesn't twitch like faster than they eye can see does he???

Speaking of WonderCards, we haven't figured out a way to reset for natures (on non-fixed-nature Pokémon), have we? It would certainly seem like it's something that must have a discernible pattern in the same vein as the egg natures.

On that note, how many of you are going to bother SRing for natures and RNGing for IVs on Arceus since we can't do any better than a 100/100/100/100/100/10 EV spread? Do you figure we'll be getting the Azure Flute sooner or later? I would think so, but with HG/SS out, I wouldn't be surprised if Japan is finished with Platinum-only events...

RNGd my first shiny through breeding last night (yay teal Piplup!), so I decided to attempt a Nidoran. I totally failed, nothing was right D: I've noticed this happening with Staryu as well which brought up this question: do you have to use a different method to RNG shiny genderless pokes through eggs?

Bred my 2nd shiny today (Pineco with 31 defense IV!...and 30 speed ;_;), still no success with Nidoran OR Staryu.

Lets say it works like this:

Call RNG, getting a number from 1-5 and do the following:
1 - turn left
2 - turn right
3 - turn down
4 - turn up
5 - do nothing

...

Notice the RNG was still called for 5 and the NPC did not move.

WHUT!!! XD DOING NOTHING ADVANCES THE RNG!!! I had no idea! thank you so very much for pointing that out! That explains it perfectly and I can adjust from there, thank you. :)

You're so great! ^.^ I was really confused there, but that makes perfect sense!

[edit]
What I've been doing is letting him walk to an odd advancement and then trying to quickly open the journal to stop him on an odd advancement. Then i subtract how many steps/turns I counted and then do my journal flips from there. I have noticed him standing there a couple of times, so that's where the extra advancements were. I suppose I should just keep opening and closing the menu quickly to "catch" him either mid turn, or walking forward one step to get the single advancement I need?

lol guys I just wondered: Has anyone tried out to abuse for the Togepi Egg in HG/SS yet? Is it even possible? Probably it uses Method 1 then?
Really interesting question imo.xD

Yeah, that Togepi Egg would most likely be Method 1. You get it in a Pokemart this time around, right? Frame advancement might be trickier to do without the Journal automatically popping up.
