How the bloody hell do I capture the legendary dogs in (original) Silver? I haven't even SEEN them. I've repeatedly crossed the border between Ecruteak and the route south of it, taking about a dozen steps in the grass each time (using repels with a lv 35 Pokemon in the lead slot), but no luck. Yes I have let them out of the basement of the burnt tower.
Is there any way to get seen entries in the Pokedex (besides cheating)? That would make things a lot easier. Or is there any bias in routes they show up on (besides it being Johto only)?

they are just like latias and latios, they go around the map and every time you get to they route they go to another, its a big pain in the ass to catch then, once you find then in the wild they will problay run away, but you will get the data in the pokedex, so you can see in what route he is...

I think they're the worst of all the roamers. No way of tracking until first sight, they have Roar to counter Mean Look (and you don't have Ingrain to deal with that), and there's no False Swipe in GSC. I've a feeling they can run when asleep too.

False Swipe was in fact introduced in GSC.

How do I figure out my Secret I.D. in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and FireRed (those are the copies I own)? Is there any in-game way to figure out such a thing? If not and only by the use of a external device like an AR or something, then all I have is a Gameshark SP.

Also, I've read around on a few forums here and there and I've always wondered something: what do "FireRed 1.1" "FireRed 1.0" "LeafGreen 1.1", etc, etc. mean? Are there different versions of the cartridge games or something?

I stand corrected.

Now I have to get myself something that uses it. Scyther's probably best I think. I only need to use it on the dogs first time I see them.

Wish I'd known sooner. Would've saved me a lot of Ultra Balls wasted by trying to catch stuff at full health. For some reason I assumed it was 3rd gen.

Is that for 3rd generation games only? I know my Secret I.D.'s in the 4th gen games, just need them for the 3rd gen games.

Also, (this may have to be in the Stark Mountain Q&A, but no one has answered my question there either) if I Pal Park a Pokemon from my Emerald version to say my Platinum version, does its Secret I.D. stay the same from when it was in my Emerald version or does it change to my Platinum's Secret I.D. code instead?

It probably applies to both, but I'd recommend confirming it with someone else.

No, it's valid for finding SID in 3rd and 4th gens. Although 3rd gen will spit out multiple options because of the different methods used.

Secret ID, like Trainer name and ID, is not changed upon Pal Parking. Nothing changes on Pal Parking. (Well, apart from the effects of moves changing, but that's not a change to the Pokemon).

All right, so I just figured out how to use the guide that page leads to - pretty cool.

Now, how would I calculate this for a Event Pokemon? Does a Event Pokemon obtain my Secret I.D. or does it have its own Secret I.D. from said event that it is from? If I get that Pokemon multiple times from a Wondercard, will it have different Secret I.D.'s or the same (or it takes my Secret I.D. from my version of the game it's going in)?

In order to be given the eggs on Pokémon Box, I've read that all of the Pokémon you deposit to meet the given number need to come from the same game. Do they mean that they need to have the same ID number? If they just need to be deposited from the same game, couldn't you just withdraw all Pokémon (from various carts) onto one cart, and then re-deposit them (assuming you had 100+ Pokémon in your Pokédex)?

Does anyone have any suggested natures and EV spreads for a mixed DDmence with DD/EQ/Dclaw/Fthrower? I was thinking going with Rash or possibly Mild, and maybe even one of the neutrals, but for the EVs I'm completely stumped on.

go with Rash(or possibly naive), max speed, and then give enough SPATK to 2KO Scarmory. throw the rest into ATK.

Which basically means go 252/252 ATK SPEED. with Rash on a 252/0 impish skarmory you're doing 60-70% with flamethrower. another option is to go 40ATK/216SPATK/252SPEED with fire blast. This guarantees an OKOH on 252/0 impish skarm

EDIT: if you plan on using him for the battle tower go with this set 120/138/252 with DD/EQ/(rockslide is worth thinking about over dragon claw)/flamethrower. this will 2ko all the skarmorys in there

With DD though, do I really need to max out its speed? How would something like 180spA/140spe/104atk/84hp with Rash work in your opinion?

calm down kiddo, its not about level up (ok it is but whatever) its about type coverage, you know each elite 4 type, so get pokemons that hit then SE with they STAB moves, if you really want to level up, go fight some random trainers or whatever...also calm down a little with the caps ok?

Actually, if one is already stuck with a poor coverage team, then besides maybe using the few purchasable TMs, it's quicker to level up the existing team than to get new members (unless it's something like a Graveler or Hariyama you need that can be caught high level in Victory Road).

Victory Road is the best place for level grinding pre Elite 4. That should go without saying.

k. ill keep that in mind! and srry about the caps. stupid Stickykeys amd stuff. lol

Ok thanks.

How much do stat stages increase a particular stat? I'm fairly sure one stage is 50%, and two stages is 100%, but what about stat deductions? It can't go down 100%, can it?

Stats increases are (2+stage)/2 * stat
Decreases are [2/(2 + stage)] * stat

So decrease 1 stage is 2/3 * stat, 2 is 2/4 * stat, and so on, up to 2/8 * stat = 1/4 * stat.
