Why not use Fake Out to hit Darkrai/Smeargle and then hit them with something strong enough to KO them.

What is a good EV spread for a Modest Ampharos with this moveset:

-Thunder Wave
-Thunderbolt
-Signal Beam
-Reflect

252 HP / 80 SpA / 176 SpD, taken straight from the UU Tank in the analysis. It allows you to survive Omastar's Surf in the Rain after switching into Stealth Rock.

taunt and magic coat are other ways to deal with sleep inducing Pkm. Protect+flame\toxic orb can work as well on some Pkm (say Ursaring or Haryiama or Clefable).
Early bird ability halves the turns of sleep, but is not exactly reliable.

A 10% chance isn't reliable. If you're going to use this in UU, you should go with Hidden Power Ice, Grass, or Water to hit Ground types that are immune to Thunder Wave and Thunderbolt. I've never played NU so I don't know if Signal Beam is good or not.

Oh but this is in the game... and it doesn't have those HPs. D: Should I replace Signal Beam with Counter or Heal Bell?

And what's a good build for a Modest Alakazam?

And ... this is a dumb question, but how long does it take for you guys to get perfect IVs? It takes me a really long time because even if both parents are flawless, only 3 IVs are passed down. Is there an easier way to hatch a flawless Pokemon, or is it all based on luck? D:

Perhaps you should look into RNG abuse. Once you get good at it, you can get 2-3 flawless pokemon an hour. Even if you're slow and only get one every three hours, it's still a TON of time saved.

I don't really get the frame stuff. D:

theres an RNG help thread in wifi, if you didnt already know.
as for me, long story short, i dont own a computer so i cant rng abuse, due to lack of having RNG reporter, so i have to reset for my IVs, and its all luck, where as with RNG abuse you control your ivs, so you should def. learn it because its so much more conveniant and easy.

Okay I'll try. o.o;

What are you posting from? RNGReporter doesn't need installing, it just runs - so you should be able to use it on school or library computers (though whether you're allowed is another matter).

i use my psp's internet browser wherever i am, and it cant run it, im not taking any classes at college right now so i cant use those computers, libraries here only allow access to computers 2 hours away, and the closest one to my house is 30 min away.
I dont think its possible, but is there a way to use the reporter without downloading it?

Another ability to prevent sleep is vital spirit, which makes primeapa a good darkrai counter. Also, Guts+flame heracross is great resisting both focus blast and dark pulse.

Edit: What i mean by " I cannot post warstories" is that in the Forum rules it is written that I may not post new threads, edit posts, etc.

I'm logged in and all... Still, I have 1 point for an infraction. Maybe it is the problem...

Correct me if I'm wrong that RNG abuse is going to work the same way in HG/SS as it does in D/P/Pt right now. In that case, I really would like to find a person who could teach me how to RNG abuse and all that because I read the articles and whatnot and I simply can't understand it. Sorry but that's how I work for most things, I can't read something and learn it, but if someone talks to me about it I get it pretty easily. Anyone think they could help me out? If you did teach me how to RNG abuse maybe I could put my newly acquired skills to work for you

Edit: Okay pokerama I'll check it out

hgss uses method k while DPt uses method j, but it will work relatively the same, check the PRNG thread in wifi, people are usually willing to help whenever you have a question.

I am being told that items like Brightpowder (which I have used on the ladder) and King's Rock are banned from standard play. Is there a list someone can link me to for all the banned items?

those items are not banned on the ladder. if you're battling on wi-fi and you're playing under the hax-item clause, any item that increases the chance of hax happening (quick claw, focus band, king's rock, brightpowder, and probably others like razor claw, scope lens, etc) are banned. On the shoddy smogon ladder you can use those items however.

Edit: the only item that is banned from Standard play is Soul Dew.

Why don't people ever use a Lustrous or Adamant Orb for their Palkia or Dialga respectively in competitive play?
For the same reason people don't use type boosting items on most Pokemon. It's only a 20% boost to some of your attacks. That's not good compared to the 30% boost to everything given by Life Orb, or the 50% boost to some things from Choice Band/Specs. Meanwhile the A/L Orbs give no defensive benefits, unlike Leftovers or some berries. And then there's Expert Belt which is better than the A/L Orbs if you're good at hitting things SE.

If you don't like being Choiced and the LO recoil keeps doing you in, or if you're dissatisfied with the damage output of defensive sets, then try the A/L Orbs by all means.

ive been hearing mixed responses, this is my question...

According to Standard Rules, is the use of Stealth rock and Spikes simultaneously illegal?

Using Spikes and Stealth Rock together is entirely permitted. Indeed, pretty much every stall team will do so. Who on Earth told you it wasn't?

If you're having trouble with your opponent's using both, get a Rapid Spinner, and make sure you also pack a good counter to Rotom-A and Dusknoir, who are common 'spin blockers'.

Thanks, though I do believe Quick Claw is permanently banned, since it is not an available item in team builder.
