Well it's been revealed that zorua and zoroark can only be obtained through their respective events. :/

You're suprised by this? I'm perfectly certain they'll be distributed when they release the corresponding movie, i just hope it's over wifi (Doubt it though)

Yeah, and if Sweep Slap has at least 20 power, it would actually be a viable STAB move over Return with Technician involved. Some calculations of a 20 power Sweep Slap taking STAB into account:

3 hits: 135 power
4 hits: 180 power
5 hits: 225 power

The average of 3 hits would have a damage output just over Body Slam, 4 hits would be equal to Double Edge, and 5 hits would effectively act as a no-recharge Giga Impact. The possibility of 2 hits would still turn some off the move though...

If Sweep Slap has 25 power like Rock Blast though... even 3 hits would outdamage Return! Just something to think about...

If Sweep Slap has 20 Base Power for each hit, it will have an average effective Base Power of 60, 90 when Technician is taken into account (this is because hitting 2 or 3 times is twice as likely as hitting 4 or 5 times). If it's the same as Rock Blast, it will have an average effective Base Power of 75, 112.5 with Technician and 90 with Technician and accuracy.

So unless they make it like a perfectly acurate Double Hit (105 total) or a perfectly accurate Rock Blast, it won't be as good as Return.

Edit: I ran some damage calcs and found that if Sweep Slap has 25 Base for each hit, Chiramii has 90 Base Atk and Technician, Pokabu has 60 Base HP and 50 Base Def, and they both have max IVs and min EVs in their stats, the damage done is about what we see in the video. Of course, if it's exactly like Double Hit, you'd get about the same damage if Chiramii didn't have Technician.

You need a girlfriend ^^

A girlfriend is a game?

On another note, I liked megaruko and shimama more from seeing the game video.
Awesome overconfidence is awesome. There is no greater thrill in Pokemon than a KO and to get a buff as a reward again is just about too much to take.

Lets hope that trade offers for Zorua aren't completely stupid (like only event pokemon for them)

which effetivly means i guess they will be banned from tournaments, not like i go to them or can go tom them through, but i am sure fans of them would want to use them.
Guys, I think you're jumping the gun on this stuff. It seems pretty likely that, unlike event Pokémon, you'll be able to breed more Zorua. So I doubt the trades for it will be too silly. Also, even if they're banned from the 2011 tournament, I get the feeling they'll be available in-game in Pokémon Grey (or whatever they'll call it).

Somehow it doesn't seem like these two are destined for permanent event-only status. I hope not, anyway.

Someone mentioned Sweep Slap ot whatever its called: isn't there an item that increases the chance of it happening more times?

Unfortunately, these multi-hit moves are affected by an ability, Skill Link.

The item Grip Claw extends the duration of moves that hit at the end of the turn like Magma Storm, Sand Tomb, Clamp, etc.

Unfortunately, there isn't. Maybe they'll make one in Gen 5; something that would switch the probabilities would work (there would be a 37.5% chance of getting 4 or 5 hits and a 12.5% chance to get 2 or 3 hits). This would make it so that the average Base Power would be equivalent to 4 hits instead of 3 hits.

Perhaps Zoroua would be made available stateside somehow. I'm willing to guess that since they made such a big deal out of it, it'd be somewhere ingame. Perhaps the Zoroua that would be given over an event would have a special move like the Legendary Beasts would. I'm willing to make a safe bet that Claw Sharpen was that move.

We should get Celebi and the Legendary Beasts once the 13th movie comes out and then we can just trade them into BW to get Zorua and Zoroark.

Yeah i was thinking of Grip Claw. I bet there will be an item that does what I thought it did next gen.

This got me thinking…

While GameFREAK is known for breaking traditions (especially in Gen.4), there has never been an event-only Pokémon with a BST lower than 600. Phione doesn't count since it was only available by breeding (at first, anyway), and I imagine that ゾロア will be handled in a similar way.

Now, this doesn't imply that they may (not) suck, but at least there's a chance… right?

I'd bet they are going to be able to breed and evolve, and Game Freak just wants to hype them at first so people actually go to the movies and etcetera.

Now, out of curiosity... Why ゾロア? Zorua is its official romanization already, not something fanmade.

I'm sure Zoroark will have good stats, the pokemon featured in movies/presented as gen mascots generally do. Zorua obviously won't have 600 BST, and I'm not sure about Zoroark. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Game Freak romanizes a lot of pokémon strangely. An example would be Gengar's Japanese name, Gängar. For some odd reason, Game Freak decided to romanize "ゲンガー" to Gängar as said previously, instead of a slightly more accurate "Gengaa". There's other things like that; It isn't a rare occurance, really.

But would you call it Gängar, Gangar, Gengaa or ゲンガー after having its official romanization?

Normally, if a 'mons' English name has yet to be revealed, I often lean to the official romanization. Of course, other fandom-goers would have different opinions, but I'm on the fence that uses Gängar.

first of all, remember stone edge got EDGE in the name, but its not a freaking blade or sword, so shell blade will probably be the same crap, a cutting weapon wannabe.

wonder what kind of new moves we will get in gen 5? we need a fighting type t-bolt, focus blast is just horrible(focus blast is also a fighting type thunder, just saying.)

No, as it was only mentioned by Forewarn once. All we know is that it sounds awesome.

By the way, it's obvious that Shimama is going to evolve - but it not knocking Mijumaru out like that may mean its whole evolutionary tree may be a bit lacking in Attack. I believe it's because of Miju's possible bulk, though, it would make more sense like this.

[EDIT] Stone Edge obviously refers to the pointed stones.
The user stabs the foe with a sharpened stone.
Makes complete sense, in my opinion.
