Taking bets on VGC 2011 being 3v3...
Oh joy. It's funny because I still haven't learned the Doubles metagame, and if I want to take part in the VGC '11 I'll need to learn the Triples metagame.
But I really don't think VGC '11 will be Triples format. Because the game, for the US at least, comes out in Spring of 2011. That gives people only a few months to actually get situated into the game and EV train Pokemon. I'm thinking that Nintendo or whoever hosts the VGC will push Triples back to '12, and keep the Doubles we know and hate for 2011. Eh, that's my two cents, but I don't really know atm. I'm just sad face. D:
The new sarcophagus creeps me out (it is the hands). I don't think anything else has done that since I was nine and playing gen1 back when it came out.
The mantis-like thing is pretty cool. The crocodile is still my favorite of the newbies.
I agree that the red and blue thing is probably related to Nosepass, somehow, and I have some sneaking (but unfounded) suspicion that the "gothic lolita" totem pole thing is related to Mawile.
VGC will probably keep the same format of 2v2 regardless of the new 3v3 mechanic. 3v3 will just be a clusterfuck and have very little to do with any actual strategy. 2v2 utilizes just as much (if not more) strategic planning as 1v1 and even if the execution is faster in 3v3 than 2v2 it loses a lot of its essence to become a bit of a Scramble.
Also, Munna is totally a Drowzee prevo. No question.
I think that 3v3 teams require a lot more planning out than 2v2 teams because it's a lot more crazy. If you want to use a Dugtrio, now you have be sure that both of your allies will either resist or be immune to it. If you want to use Surf, everything on your team better have Water Absorb, be part Water or Grass-type, or have insane SpD.
But the bit about Surf doesn't count because from what I've been saying, it'll get slashed to 66% like it was to 75% when Doubles was introduced.
And from what Serebii is saying, Munna's abilities can either be Synchronize or Forewarn. Y'know, and then Drowzee has Insomnia and Forewarn and likewise with Hypno. Not often do you see an ability being slashed from a Pokemon, and Munna's color scheme looks nothing like Drowzee or Hypno, so I don't think its a prevo. They are of the same or similar species, so they could be related in some way, but I don't think it is direct evolution.
