Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Thanks, I might actually do that. I'd still rather look for a solution that I can use now, since I'm pretty impatient about things I need to breed.

You could try to pick your game like in the ds menu when the first timer goes off? I used to do it kinda so it works decently but not as well

Haha yeah sorry can't help you with that part. Also if you do buy new buttons make sure you get the right screwdrives to do it. Can get those pretty cheap too.

That didn't change your Seconds, did it? I might try this a few times and see what happens. I probably won't be able to hit lower delays, I guess.

You could hit as low of delays as you want as its pretty much the same thing as soft reseting! I think your thinking it works diferently than it actually does. First you change the time and the DS forces you to turn off your DS and then you just turn it on and wait at the DS screen till your first timer then push it and then hit continue at the second.

Well, like I said, I'm using a DSi, and it doesn't force you to turn it off every time you set the time. It does have a pretty big lag between selecting the game and actually starting the game though. When my second timer ended (for a delay of 517) I was still 1-2 seconds away from the Continue screen.

Ohhh well i have a ds lite so i wouldnt know what your talking about but i guess you better off going to amazon.com to get some buttons for a couple bucks

Well, thanks guys. I don't know if you can imagine how annoying it is when you reset at the perfect time, but your game doesn't actually reset...

My L-Button was acting oddly, and the most common advice I got to fix it was... well, to put your mouth over and blow on it. Not kidding. Tried it, and it worked. O_o Well, so far anyways. So if it's the L (and maybe R) button that's the problem, try that. If it's Start or Select, no clue.

Ok...I attempted to RNG a wondercard on HGSS for the first time. I hit my delay and I advanced my frame to 135 ( I needed 136) and then I talked to the delivery guy. When I received my Jirachi I got the one that had the IVs for the frame of 134. How did this happen? I know I hit the right frame because I was keeping track with the RNGreporter.

Also, the two roaming dogs are out as well. Do they affect it?

Pretty sure i mean 2 dogs, 2 frames?

lol...

I hit the seed, advanced the frame to 54 (target is 58), then used the good rod (it's supposed to advance the frame by 4 right?) but i got the not even a nibble message - then i used the good rod again immediately after and got a pokemon with the spread/encounter slots on frames 60 and 61 (they're exactly the same)

so what did i do wrong?

that's what went wrong, you got that message, even not getting a nibble advances the RNG, normally by 1 but looks like by 2 in your case or 3 since you can't distinguish 60 from 61 it can be either. This is HGSS right?

yeah its HG

so does the not even a nibble message appear randomly no matter what the frame is? (so, do i have to keep hitting the seed, advancing the frame to 54, then using the rod?)

nope that message will always appear for that frame, so if you stopped at frame 54 and used the rod you should have landed on frame 58, but when you fished you got the no nibble message. So, for that frame you will always get that message. I'm afraid your going to look for a different frame that has the spread you want. By the way, are there any NPCs that move randomly in the area your fishing?

i dont think there were any NPCs that moved because i pressed start reasonably fast enough, it's vermilion city btw

and that frame happens to be literally the only one i have i have that calm spread on, so i guess i cant use it for fishing/a chinchou then :'(

Ok, I finally got my seed and went to frame 20, then Sweet Scented.

A Shellos appeared, just as I had expected, but it wasn't shiny. Everything matches what the RNG Reporter shows, except for the shiniess. >_>

Which leads me to two possible conclusions:

a) I somehow got my SID wrong
b) I did something else wrong

Can repels mess the RNG up? And just to make sure, Sweet Scented pokemon are Method J pokemon right?

Sweet scenting is method J for DPPt, yes.

If everything, from gender/nature/ability/IV matches what you wanted but shininess, then congratulations on your first RNG, lol. And yes, it's most likely you got the wrong SID or even entered in the wrong ID by accident.

Whoops. >_>

Mixed up my SoulSilver SID with my Diamond SID. No clue how that happened. Well that was a night wasted. Even RNGing for my Heatran wasn't this long, lol.

I have a Japanese HG game, which I intend to RNG in. However, as the elm calls are in Japanese, I cannot advance and check my seed accurately. Does anyone have the translations of which call is which, or a way of telling what Professor elm is saying?

Your delay was a little higher than usual that time, big deal. It just means that you reset a tiny bit early or entered the game a tiny bit late.

Does anyone have any methods of RNGing (DSi) that don't require soft-resetting? I think I've heard about starting from Pictochat or something?
I can RNG just fine, but I think my DS buttons are wearing out or something, because when I hold L, Start, Select, and press R to reset, nothing happens...This is really frustrating me, so if anyone has any input I would love to hear it. Thanks.

Instead of SRing, you can:
Set DS clock, restart DS and wait at the clock-pokemon-pictochat-slot2 screen for pikatimer's first beep and press a to start loading the game from there, then do a bit of button smashing to get to the continue screen and then wait for the second beep to enter the game.

I got better results like this. SRing is so uncomfortable and that leads (me, at least) to inconsistent results, not to mention it's completely unnecessary if you are using pikatimer.

Yeah, but I was two frames short not over. even though I was on frame 135 I ended up hitting frame 134 after I exited out and talked to the delivery man. Is there anyone else that knows about the wondercard RNG that can answer this as well?

Hi all,

I really need some serious help. I'm attempting Emerald RNG at the moment (catching legendaries) on my VBA. I have no idea how to find my current frame. I have Wichu's Old PokeRNG Programme and RNGDecode. Can anyone tell me how to find my frame? Just for added emphasis, I'm using Emerald, not FR/LG. Thank you everyone for your help.

My R trigger button became unresponsive after about 4 months worth of races in Mario Kart on the bus to work in Afghanistan... My fix was to open up my DSi with a sunglasses repair kit, and jam a tiny ball of duct tape in between the trigger button and the electric switch it actuates. Works like a champ now. :)
