Challenge The Scramble Challange

Well, in that case, the challenge is too easy. Now Manectric must learn and keep Roar and, in each Elite 4 battle, must use Roar and then KO the Pokemon that is sent out.

My second update for the Scramble Challenge!

I've safely gotten to the second gym located in Eterna City, and caught myself a Nosepass in Mt. Coronet. It was a boy, so I decided to name it Sanders. Of coarse, grinding was involved for a majority of the time played. Considering this gym is primarily Grass types, I have put Restart into the PC just in case my pokemon are not strong enough for the battle. Can't be too careful! So, without further to do, here is my battle against Gardenia

Eterna Gym Battle
My pokemon:
Mettle (Luxio lvl23)@Cherri Berry
-Tackle
-Bite
-Charge
-Spark

TailSlap (Bidoof lvl21)@Quick Claw
-Tackle
-Defense Curl
-Rollout
-Rock Smash

Sanders (Nosepass lvl20)@Oran Berry
-Tackle
-Harden
-Rock Throw
-Block

Gardenia's pokemon:
Turtwig lvl20
Cherrim lvl20
Roserade lvl22

Battle Synopsis
So, I start out the battle with Mettle. I plan to have him doing most of the heavy hitting, considering he's the one with the best offenses in the team. He also has access to Charge, which the Special Defense boost should help greatly in the battle. Packing plenty of super potions should keep him nice and healthy for a sweep. Gardenia sends out Turtwig. I should easily get my Special Defense to +6! Turtwig sets up Reflect, which would be a problem if my plan wasn't to set up for the first 6 turns. Can never be too careful, right? Six Charges, and only one super potion used so far. Turtwig has managed to set up Sunny Day and Reflect (again), which look like they might be a problem soon. The Special Defence boosts don't help against Turtwig with its repeated use of Razor Leaf, but I know it'll pay off later in the battle. I use a potion to top my HP off, and start to whittle away at Turtwig's impressive bulk.

After several turns, a good deal of my super potions have been used up, and am at a rather low 10 HP as Gardenia sends out Cherrim. Thankfully, Sunny Day was used up, but Turtwig managed to set up a fresh Reflect to irk me with. I heal up and Mettle starts to work his magic to take down Cherrim. Cherrim uses Magical Leaf, and does only seven damage. This should be a piece of cake! I laugh at Cherrim's feeble attempts to damage Mettle and set up a useless Safeguard, and is easily disposed off with a flurry of Bite attacks.

Next up is Roserade, Gardenia's most powerful pokemon. With Reflect gone and her super potion used up while taking down Turtwig, this should be easy enough. I use my own potion to top off Mettle's HP, and take little damage from Roserade's Magical Leaf. Roserade tries to use Stun Spore, but the Cherri Berry took care of that problem. I know it would come in handy! Gardenia uses another super potion right when I almost take out Roserade. Annoying, but didn't even phase the outcome of the battle. A resounding victory!

A little boring compared to my other battle, but a win nonetheless! Putting Restart into the PC wasn't even needed, as Mettle sure proved his worth in this battle. That also makes another requirement for him checked off; only one more before he can use Crunch unhindered in the future. Unfortunately, the only pokemon I can teach Cut to is TailSlap, who needs to keep Tackle and eventually Amnesia/Yawn to evolve into Bibarrel. I guess that means I'll need to use the move deleter in Canalave before even trying to evolve him. I minor setback, but nothing that can't be overcome. Wish me luck!

Mew, as an added challenge:

You are the Oddly Even Kid. When your Pokemon are an odd level, they are afraid of wild Pokemon, and you must run away from a wild Pokemon battle if your odd-level Pokemon is in wild Pokemon combat for any reason. When your Pokemon are even levels, they cannot be used in a trainer battle unless you have no other choice (meaning if you have 1 odd-level Pokemon and 5 even-level Pokemon, you can only use the odd-leveled until it levels, or it faints).

Other challenges issued by other players override my challenge if necessary.

Well, in that case, the challenge is too easy. Now Manectric must learn and keep Roar and, in each Elite 4 battle, must use Roar and then KO the Pokemon that is sent out.

Sure, added that to Sparky's restrictions.

I see what you did there. What if an odd levelled Pokemon levels up during a trainer battle, should I just immediately switch it out or can I use it for the remainder of the battle?

Hey guys, Iv'e kinda been away for a while (well, not really away, but no need to get in to the details) but since accepting my most original scramble challenge award I haven't been giving out scramble challenges at all. I would just like to say doomvendingmachine scramble inc. is back open for buisiness, ready to give out kick ass scrambles and chew bubble gum.... and I'm all out of bubble gum.

@vratix; not as far as I know

@vratix, 6 people have supported the idea, with 2 votes Uber, 2 votes NU. Probably need some more supporters, and a team building format before it can start.

For the scramble tournament, i think we should all simply be given 4 pokemon from whatever tier we use (within reason, all Dragon/Flying is boring, etc.), and the remaining 2 pokemon are free to choose.

This way, we get a decent team that we can use, and can cover the weaknesses of the 4 pokemon we're given.

Also, the pokemon that you are given should be restricted to a movepool of 6-8 moves, of which you choose 4. Obviously, make them somewhat viable moves. 2 Natures are to be given, of which one is used. EV's are free to allocate as you please. The others have no restriction, it's up to the players to decide.

No nicknames should be given because otherwise we can just search up the nickname in this thread, and find out what 6 moves that pokemon can use. Actually, maybe just PM so that people can't search up the team at all.

Just my 2 cents on the matter, but I think it will help us avoid crazily one-sided battles. One other thing: After Round One, people should be free to discuss what pokemon they saw using what moves, EXCEPT the 2 pokemon that players choose themselves (players will have to reveal to each other which is which after the battle).

i have something to contribute to this so called "scramble tourney"

On Pokemon-Online's Beta server they have a tier called "the challenge cup" which is basically Shoddy's random battle taken one step further to try and be balanced. the higher the pokemon's BST is, the lower the level it is, and vice versa. e.g. pichu would be level 98-100 while ho-oh would be something like high 50s-mid 60s. other then that its pretty much a random battle. just something to consider seeing if someone manages to get a dialga or kyogre as one of their pokes, it would completely blow everyone away if other people get butterfrees and raticates.

just something to consider, even if ubers are banned

I would say you'd have to switch it out if possible. For sake of simplicity though if you're engaged in a double battle, you don't need to switch out.

My FireRed challenge is going well so far. I just fulfilled Charmander's evolution requirement by soloing Lt. Surge (the Dig TM makes this so much easier, but I kept getting parahax'd by Pikachu's Static >_>). Charmander levelled up from his Raichu, so he was able to evolve into a Charmeleon immediately. :)

Current Team:

Lv24 Naive Charmeleon (Darigaaz), Dig/Growl/Ember/Metal Claw
Lv22 Gentle Paras (Suicide), Cut/Leech Life/PoisonPowder/Bullet Seed
Lv20 Mild Pikachu, Thundershock/Quick Attack/Double Team/Thunder Wave
Lv20 Careful Spearow, Peck/Pursuit/Leer/Fury Attack
Lv22 Hardy Diglett (Digda), Scratch/Growl/Magnitude/Dig

Still working on some requirements:

- Charmeleon will need to solo the Fighting Dojo without healing to evolve. This will probably mean missing out on Wing Attack in order to be strong enough to take on the stronger Pokémon in the Dojo, but I guess I could use Fly or something if I want a STAB Flying attack for Charizard later.
- Paras has soloed Misty, but can't evolve until she learns Spore at level 25.
- Pikachu needs to forget his Normal attacks before evolving (and I haven't got a Thunderstone yet anyway).
- I've decided to evolve my Spearow, which means I can't learn Drill Peck. As a result, I'm stopping her from evolving until she learns Aerial Ace at level 25.
- Diglett still knows Scratch, but I'm not using it as per the requirements. Magnitude is far better anyway, so no real loss. I'm also having trouble working out whether some moves are acceptable; Aerial Ace is obviously out, but what about moves like Return, Sludge Bomb, Double Team and Rock Tomb?
- I haven't yet reached Celadon City, so no Porygon just yet. Does anybody know what level you get it at?

For that Diglett, I'd just say no to Sludge Bomb. It lives in caves so it should obviously be able to use Rock Tomb and everything can learn return and double team.

Scramble Tournament?

Come on guys! If everybody says a different idea and no one takes care of it we won't be able to do this.
Can the interested people PM me? Write your idea on the PM if you want or just the tier if you want it more simple. It worked for the Awards and should work for this.
Is it ok?

@Tetrinity, when I said no impossible moves on Digda, I was joking about how Diglett can use moves like Slash without claws, or Aerial Ace while underground. The official (meaning I just made it up) list of moves it can't use is Scratch, Fury Swipes, Slash, Aerial Ace, Cut, and Beat Up. There's no problem with things like Sludge Bomb (though I wonder why it can learn it...)

Well, damnit. I was playing my Scramble without saving over my regular save file, and lo and behold I forget to plug my DS in last night and the battery dies. I can't be damned to go through everything again, so I suppose you could consider my challenge a failure. I'll be sticking around to give out challenges and whatnot, but my HeartGold Scramble is done.

NEVER FORGET:

Manly the Bayleef (Lv. 5-28) - The powerhouse. As far as attacks go, Manly's Reflect is the MVP of my short challenge, making his solo of Bugsy and Danielle's solo of Whitney's Miltank possible.

Danielle the Ariados (Lv. 2-23) - I've owned both Gold and HG and have never taken the time to raise a Spinarak. It was a damn lot of work but I have a newfound respect for those Pokes.

Amelie the Dratini (Lv. 15-25) - Dragon Rage is gamebreaking early on. Amelie could OHKO almost everything under like Lv. 18. She was headed for stardom for sure.

Detonator the Pineco (Lv. 13-17) - Another one that I've never taken care to raise, Detonator had a huge amount of potential.

Melville the Tauros (Lv. 17-24) - A relatively recent catch but a hugely powerful one. Had I made it through the game, I think Melville would've been my MVP. He would've soloed Morty had it not been in Danielle's requirements to appear in the battle (although, to be fair, Danielle's Shadow Sneak took out his second Haunter very quickly).

Clause the Psyduck (Lv. 23-23) - Never got a chance to use him, but really wasn't looking forward to having to teach him both Shadow Claw and Screech. Would've been interesting.

that exists on Shoddy, it's called level balance.

mooooncow, you are Ash Ketchum. Your starter Pokemon is Pikachu (pick a Bulbasaur unless someone tells you otherwise and catch Pikachu in Viridian Forest. Unless someone else gives you a starter, you may not use Bulbasaur after catching Pikachu). Being the Pokemon trainer you are, you must capture every wild Pokemon not in your Pokedex in every new route before moving to the next route, after you reach Route 3---excluding legendaries. Pikachu must solo Brock.

Lol, what an epic suggestion, thanks for that!
Keep 'em coming! :)

ok since you are ash ketchum, and thus dont give a shit about type matchups, you get a squirtle that may not evolve into a blastoise unless it solos lt. surge. Have fun with ash's noobery. It may aslo never know surf, for no particular reason related to ash.

@moooncow, take a Geodude named Sargon. It can't evolve unless it solos a trainer on Route 11, and one of the trainer's Pokemon must use an attack that only does 1 damage to Sargon. After evolving, you can't deposit Sargon in the PC or heal it in a Pokemon Center unless it's fainted. Finally, since Ash never uses TM's or HM's, you can't use any on Sargon. Have fun!

@moooncow: You will continue in your bad-Ash-ery by taking a Krabby. Name it "LMAO Misty." In true Ash's Krabby fashion, it must evolve after KOing its first Pokemon or at the end of that battle (you may leave it in the Daycare until this is possible, and you may not use it for any of that trainer's other Pokemon). It must learn and keep Crabhammer and Hyper Beam forever.

wow you guys are nice/sarcasm :P
anyway, I'llstill do this, but dunno about the catch all pokemon in each route, I'll have to see...
