Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Hmmmm I searched a little and googled as well for pokewalker abuse guides/info or whatever. Although there are plenty of technical jargon the RNG researchers probably appreciate, my level of knowledge of this did not really allow me to understand how to Pokewalker abuse from that info. My googling skills only yielded a result of an example with a Brave spread and a capture date and some instructions. Although it seems fairly easy, is there a way or something I can find other natures spreads'?

If anyone could help me with a little tutorial on how to Pokewalker abuse that'd be great :) Other than the Brave natured pokemon or how to get to those numbers and stuff :P

Either anticipate it or be really quick with your button presses. Usually if it is gonna advance it will start you on Frame 3 instead of Frame 1. I also recommend using the X button to open the Pokegear rather than the touch screen as the X button will freeze the frames in place, and usually hitting B to exit out of the Pokegear and hitting A immediately doesn't allow him to mess up your frame.

I don't use the touch screen, but I'm gonna try again sometime this week, still saved by the dc man.

Hmm
Has anyone rngd entei in the burnt tower?
I was sitting 7 frames before my target and i didnt get it
now raikou is frame one, but entei is frame 6...???

It may be that they're only frames 1 and 6 after the Burned Tower? It's best to catch it to see which frame you did hit, as tedious as that may be.

Is there some reason why GBA carts wouldn't be changing my delay? I keep getting even delays on my Diamond game, with or without the GBA cart. And yes, I have tried multiple carts.

Ugh. . .

There's got to be a better way to get a preferred nature out of a wondercard Pokemon other than resetting every time. This is taking me weeks to get right, and I'm starting to get more than a little impatient. I've hit my seed for a physical spread at least 20 times already, and I have nothing to show for it!

Please help, if there indeed is any to be had? It's a random nature.

I wish but there's no other way to as it's uncontrollable. Unless you use savestates, then it's back to being patient. Savestates makes life of RNG abusing WonderCards easy.

Well, crap in a hat. I'm using a legit cart.

I swear, it's like the game is just choosing the same five natures at random every time.

And now I'm at an Impasse. I have a perfect physical spread Jirachi staring at me, with the third Naive nature I've gotten since I began, but I want Jolly. Should I take it?

No wais! If you want Jolly then you shouldn't settle for second best! Try try try until you die die die (but you'll get it before then so no worries :P)!

funeral cake: You are putting a pokemon game in the GBA slot, yes? :)

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Keep trying. I'm having same problem on Diamond. GBA trick works almost perfectly on Soul Silver though...

Asd, I'm trying to hit delay 493 on Soul Silver to get my almost flawless moltres. But the game is teasing me and I get only 495 and 491. :(
Soul Silver: "Ahahah I know what you're after but you're NOT gonna get it *smirk*"

Using Zomgtimer, 3 beeps 1000 frequency
Calibrated Delay 481, Target delay 493
Calibrated Sec 13, Target second 14

Seed is 0E1601F8 (29.7.2011, 22:53:14)

I swear, it's like the game is just choosing the same five natures at random every time.

I had the same feeling when I finally got around to RNGing my movie Arceus recently (yes, I sat on it for a year...). I kept hitting the seed but getting the wrong nature, and the same wrong natures seemed to keep coming up.

Perhaps it was just by chance, but I changed to using a different date/time for the same seed, and I started getting different natures. I switched a couple times until finally I got a nature that was acceptable.

Now I have a hex-flawless Adamant Arceus. :-)

Okay, I've tried what was recommended to me, putting in random ID/SID for the shiny egg tab in an attempt to get a non-shiny egg with the right nature, it isn't working. I was gunning for a quiet nature, but I am ending up with a relaxed one. Does anyone know the correct way to RNG a correct nature in a non-shiny egg.

What you just said is the right way. Put in a random ID/SID combination (not yours) and RNG as usual. You must be doing something else wrong? Date/Time wrong? Frames way off?

Keep at it. 20+ tries to get the nature you want isn't out of the ordinary. You will probably regret settling instead of spending a little more time getting exactly what you wanted.

I think you may be on to something here. Gonna try it after lunch.

Yep. I tried with Emerald, Ruby, and LeafGreen. All three did change the delay, but it was always ~+10 instead of changing from even to odd.

Huh, well, I guess it's just a D/P issue, then. I've never had problems with the GBA games before, and even last night it was working fine in Platinum. There are a few other things I can try, but if not I'll just settle for a less-than-perfect Entei. No big deal - I got two flawless ones already.

And as for the Arceus issue, the natures are controlled by an in-game timer that is difficult if not impossible to control (on legit cards) at this point. That explains why you keep getting the same natures all the time. If changing the seed doesn't work, you could try waiting a little longer before accepting the gift, which should give you some different natures.

Do what you're doing, but don't use international parents and don't check off the box for international parents.

I figured I'd refer to you guys and see if you can lend me a bit of help on this.
I've been trying to RNG the Pokewalker and attempting to get the following:
Timid 27/8/30/27/31/31 Ability ??? pokewalker pokes (HPI 68);
I've followed these directions:
Timid 27/8/30/27/31/31 Ability ??? pokewalker pokes (HPI 68)

1) Have a pokemon already in your walker on the route you want, and catch EXACTLY ONE random pokemon (doesn't matter what it is)
2) Catch your target pokemon (MUST BE THE SECOND POKE CAUGHT!!!!!)
2) Set your DS Date to 2011-01-01
3) Set your DS time to 23:23:00 and turn it off then back on again
4) Wait on the very first DS menu screen watching the Clock
5) When the Clock reaches EXACTLY 23:23:59 Press A to begin HG or SS
6) DO NOT BEGIN THE ACTUAL GAME, instead go to the pokewalker section
7) Go to "recieve gift" and withdraw ONLY the 2 pokes you caught
8) the 2ND poke you caught should be Timid 27/8/30/27/31/31Timid 27/8/30/27/31/31 Ability ??? pokewalker pokes (HPI 68)

I've yet to receive the desired spread and have become somewhat convinced this may not work for everyone. Either that or I am doing something wrong. I've repeated this well over 30 times already. Am I suppose to pull the Pokemon out of the route and place him in it again after a failed attempt? Any input or help will be greatly appreciated. (Using a timer to hit the 23:23:59; does delay have an effect?)

By "waiting a little longer," do you perhaps mean advancing to the required frame, then waiting a little longer to talk to the delivery guy? If so, about how much longer?

The nature is apparently generated once the delivery man's messages are dismissed, so talk to him ASAP (this would be in D/P/Pt, so waiting before talking to him would screw with the frames) to set the IVs in place, then just wait a few seconds or so before exiting the "We look forward to your next visit." message.

I can't really say exactly how long you should wait, as I don't know exactly how the whole process works, but waiting any extra length of time should give you some different natures, anyway.

Oh, HELL YES!!! I have DONE IT! My first legitimate RNG Manipulation success!

Couldn't have done it without you guys. Thank you so much, especially for the different date/time suggestion. Wow. I'm so happy right now.

I have HeartGold and am attempting my first RNG Pokemon, but I've been unsuccessful so far. I used Wichu's program to find a seed of 801307fc with delay 2033 (frame 1). However, when verifying seed, Elm never gives me the sequence of responses indicated by RNG Reporter's "Seed to Times" function, and whenever I use the "Elm Search" to look for adjacent seeds, I get "no match" (see screenshot below). I have killed off all roamers, shown Togepi to Elm, gotten a Pokerus Pokemon into the Center, beaten all gyms and E4, etc.; i.e., I think I have all of the prerequisites covered.

This is the exact process I used:
1) Set DS time to 19:57 while starting PikaTimer with spacebar (the desired time is 19:58:30, and PikaTimer said 1 minute before target)
2) I let the DS turn itself off when it asks to after the time change
3) I turn on the DS and get to the Continue screen before the 1st timer's up
4) I soft-reset when the first timer runs out
5) I get to the Continue screen and when the second timer runs out, I press Continue.
6) I immediately open up my phone and call Elm

I am doing this in the first lake in Slowpoke Well, so there shouldn't be any random NPC's, but even if there are, I press the 'X' button to enter the menu as soon as I enter the game.

Out of 10+ tries, I have never gotten the correct Elm responses, even with the Elm Search at +/- 60 frames and +/- 1 second. In contrast, during calibration I can consistently hit delays of 483 or 493, and 13 or 14 seconds. Am I misunderstanding the process and seriously messing something up? In steps 3) and 4) above, should I be soft-resetting from inside the game just after "touch to start" as I have been doing, or should I be entering the game from the main DS homescreen? Do I need to spam the 'A' button at any point during the process?

The desired delay is 2033; my calibrated time is 13 seconds and calibrated delay is 483. I saw a recommendation to use 14 seconds and 480 for HGSS, so I tried that too in PikaTimer, but to no avail. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I did that with the right ID/SID combo and I just got a shiny, lol. Which, ironically, is not what I want. I'll try the random ID/SID combo... one more time.

edit: Okay, it just doesn't work, I changed both the ID and SID - I'll try just changing only the SID; and yes, I am perfectly sure of hitting my delays, hitting the elm calls and advancing my frame, I've done this all perfectly fine with shiny 'mons and I'm confident of being able to do it.

Are there any methods involving generating a random seed and inputting it into the main window of the RNGreporter and seeing the natures of each frame and just advancing to one that is quiet?

edit2: Okay, I just tried that and no success either, just got a modest. FML.

hi, may i advise that you try the process taking into account that you need to adjust the delays to +/- 99. that way you can see better how off you were from your target. also what are you trying to hit for, wild pokemon or are you breeding for one? since im only familiar with stationary legendaries and bred pokemon atm.

I'm trying to catch any wild shiny. That isn't the problem though; before catching anything I'm not even hitting the correct seed (if I'm using the programs correctly). I'll try your suggestion.

EDIT: Tried it, but still no Elm matches with +/- 99 delays and +/- 5 seconds.
